18GB on PS3. Why only 15 on Xbox?

OK, so once again. Where is the source for this information that the file size is different for each system?!?

Anyway, smart person here, it's most likely the TV Video files again, they were bigger on the PS3 version (even bigger than the PC version infact!) which caused an extra 2GB of space to be taken up, if they've done the same this time, it's most likely that. Nothing different gameplay wise, or texture wise, etc, they're the same, only the audio was less compressed on PS3 (using 44.1Khz ADPCM instead of 32Khz ADPCM) and the BINK video files were a lot less compressed and had both better image and audio quality.

Thanks for the good info icon14.gif Always good to see a good post inbetween the idiots.

Haha, SamanthaLois busted. That's neat.

Big deal. 15 gigs fits in two DVD disks. 18 gigs on one bluray disk. That is to be expected.

Mr The Benz has said there hardly any difference between the PS3 and xbox versions.

How many GB GTA IV took ?

6.8GB on the Xbox 360, 10.4GB on the PS3.

Demolition Man

PS3 is bigger because of uncompressed LPCM audio (24 bit 96 KHz audio), where as 360 is stuck with compressed Dolby Digital audio (16 bit 48 KHz audio).

Can you show us your source, TIA. Assuming this is what is happening for V. orly.gif

Lol at Sony fanboys who think they have 2gb worth of extra goodness.

Probably some extra missions and bonuses... Yeah that's what some would wish.

Audio Files NEVER get compressed in any game. You cant compress Audio files without making them sound like sh*t.

I know you have already been laughed at for this, but what do you think MP3s are??? Its the same premise as compressing audio into a game.

I said they never get compressed in the way of making it bad quality. MP3 with a certain bit rate is standard most of the time. You cant just compress MP3 to a low quality format which f*ck up the quality. Why do you think audio files are one of the biggest?!

It's been said on this thread quite a few times already but yeah, larger file size on PS3 is due to less compression.

These questions was all answered in 2010, the PS3 is better and can fit more of the game onto disk, don't be suprised if xbox is lacking contents happy.gif

Lot of game takes up more disc space on ps3. Actually it dosent mean anything, for example Skyrim is 3.8 Gb on X360, however looks a way better than the ps3 version with 5,5Gb.

On xbox u cant really install a game, it just put a disk image on the HDD/USB, its working more like a virtual drive.

Just for the record, GTA isn't known to use pre-rendered cutscenes, so the 3gb isn't compressed video, it is most likely compressed audio as other have been saying

Xbox fan-girl argument:

"Higher compression makes a game better."

No. Compression actually reduces the quality of graphics and audio. So don't cry when the Xbox 360 version is pretty mediocre.

I prefer the PlayStation 3 because it does not need the bullsh*t with compression, which lets games allow more content.

Perfect examples are: The Last of Us and Uncharted (you don't see them on Xbox, do you?)
