The Cities DLC Topic

I see they talk in the "The Multiple Towns Argument" topic in GTA V Section much about online future DLC cities, and maybe it is better to hold that discussion here. Which Cities? When? With GTA VI, a stand-alone DLC, or just an expansion? Will it be an island? ..

Wouldn't it be refreshing if it was a European city, such as Rome or Paris. inlove.gif

One final heist in a different country, the planning it would take, would make a brilliant DLC, worth every penny.

I could totally see an updated version of GTAIV's Liberty City to be made available for GTAO downloadable content. Maybe you fly from San Andreas to the east, get a quick transition & time change and then you appear flying over the water near Liberty City.

Over time Rockstar could continiue filling in more cities and country. To the north of Blaine County could be San Fierro and surrounding country. To the east could be desert, mountains, and Las Venturas. Further to the east could be New Austin with a modern Texas-style city, West Elizabeth, and Great Plains. Carcer City could be a Chicago/Detroit style city. Down south you could have Old Nepolean, a New Orleans-style city surrounded by bayou and Everglades with Vice City to the east along the southern coast. To the north of Vice City and Old Nepolean could be the city of Jackson, a city based on Montgomery Alabama and Atlanta Georgia. Further north you could have coal mine country and a Philedelphia/Wasington DC city called Capitol City. Further north you have eastern seaboard and connect with Liberty City. All DLCs could be large areas of land as islands connected by bridges.

An entire city?? One could dream but I wouldn't get my hopes up. I see people letting their imagination run wild and consequently setting themselves up for a bit of disappointment.

Los Santos Viper

At the most, I see them finishing the entire state of San Andreas (You know - San Fierro, Las Venturas, the desert, Mount Chiliad, and Back O' Beyond).

I would prefer each city have it's own story. (SP)

Well Liberty City is already at the right HD fidelity. I guess it would need some updates to include some of the things they've done to the L.S. map including putting in more apartments, more interiors and a few other things. LC would be ripe to be the first addition to GTA:Online.

None of the other cities are in HD fidelity. They'd pretty much have to be created from scratch. Instead of DLCs, I'd like those to be done as full games with the map then being deployed into Online. So for instance, they make a new Vice City probably complete with a reimagined area of Southern Florida and the Keys. They use that as a release for GTA:VI and simultaneously release it for Online. Then do the same with San Fierro. Then do the same with Las Venturas, London and Carcer City.

If they held LC back for a year or so before releasing it, that would help fill the gap before they released the next full GTA instalment.

I can really see GTA Online become an own game. A game which features multiple cities (islands), including Liberty City, San Fierro, Las Venturas and Vice City. Which you can access by flying from the airports with big passenger planes.

This would be also a good solution to people which doesn't have the dlc. You can play with them on the islands they have, but they can't access the islands they haven't purchased.

R* will most certainly do this ;-) First of all it is epic and people will play it for years to come.

Second of all; it will bring in millions and millions of dollars for the company. Each DLC will be bought so many times.

It would be a win win for every one biggrin.gif

GTA Online will eventually be a stand alone game, A mmo, but with fewer players smile.gif.

I absolutely agree with all your points.

With next gen being so much easier to develop/program on, we should (hopefully) see GTA VI in just a few years.

I say release Liberty City while we wait and make Las Venturas & San Fierro together in VI.

Fully agree.

If they bring up new big cities like San Fierro or whatever, first they have to create it from scratch, then they have (and can!) make a whole story. Which would be as huge as GTA V story and would take a lot of work.

So I really don't think we will see big cities as DLCs.

But Liberty City could be easily included as a DLC (without a story), just an updated version of the map in GTA V / Online.

The only way I could see other cities be added, is when GTA V / Online will be on next gen console. But not on current gen.

As reported in an interview with The Benz, he said that within expansion of GTA Online in the future, they want to make the world. Yes, the world. Whether this means the GTA Universe or an actual replica of the world, then this will be crazy.

Obviously they will have the old components from previous cities to work with, so maybe the one we are most likely to see will be either a reimagined Liberty City or an updated version for us.

I am 100% sure that R* will pull of the city DLC and I think they will release them in this order to create enough diversity (including my guess of gbs of the download):

Liberty City (same or little bit updated version of GTA IV (maybe the road with the crane is finally finished)) (about 5 gb download)

Las Venturas with surrounding deserts (think they are already finished creating this one) (about 6 gb download)

Vice City (about 6 gb download)

San Fierro with surrounding country side (think they already finished creating this one) (about 8 gb download)

how will you arrive to the cities?

1. bridges between the islands

or

2. passenger airplanes

every dlc will be about 15 euros (20 dollar), but if there are singleplayer missions to be done (with cutscenes, new cars and weapons and clothing) suspect that the price will be about 20 euros (25 dollar)

remember that rockstar is part of Take 2 interactive. They created the mafia games. so you can guess that we get a map or 2 from them as well. (with snow)

GTA Online will be Take 2's and R*'s Flagship tounge.gif so they will do everything to get as much money from the game as possible...

Remember; these is all guesswork, so nothing confirmed, except the part that GTA Online will be R*'s Flagship.

Great thread.

I'd love if they completed the HD version of the PS2 era with VC in GTA VI. And I hope they'll start off that thing where they want to have all their cities together in one big map, like they already said they'd love to do. Imagine installing LC, VC and LS and flying between them.

A second city DLC would be epic especially if they found a way to have some form of transport going from los santos to it

they could use roadblocks as usual with no water to get over to it..fighter jets from the military airstrip instantly come upon you if you try to access through air

even if the city were small itd still be pretty cool

Well I read somewhere (on the forums here) that R* confirmed that they wanted to put every city in GTA Online and use bridges to go from one place to another and for the further places (LC and VC) to use planes.

Gta Online will be the Flagship of R*. I think that you GTA Online account is linked to your gamertag so you can also download it for the next gen consoles. And that every half year you can download a new city dlc with new missions for single player and multiplayer.

I'm not looking forward to the addition of new cities. There'll be a bunch of differenc cities you need to pay for, which means everyone is spread out. Instead of one 16 player game in Los Santos, you'll have a bunch of 3 player games spread all around. That combined with next gen releases will be the death of GTA: Online.

Personally with the update, I believe will come a new player limit. So for example, 16 players are in each game now, so when the new cities are released, have 16 for each city, and not 16 spread across all of them.

There will be cities DLC, I am 100% sure about that. And maybe 16 players per city.

You wanted us to talk or debate about the city dlc. well we do smile.gif.

There will be cities added in DLC, Yes it is costly, but who doesn't buy it? It is GTA? All my friends who have gta IV (10+) have also bought EFLC.

GTA Online will be with us for at least a decade. So suspect a lot of extra cities, weapons, skills and missions. (for SP and MP)

GTA online doesn't won't be immortal if it stays in the current gen consoles. If by any chance they release V for next gen consoles then GTAO can get bigger and maybe a stand alone game.

So there will be maps with no connection (bridges...)

I remember the guys at GTA V o Clock talking about how in their interview with The Benz that he was sort of vague about it, but he stated GTA Online is an ongoing and growing project for R* and sort of hinted at the want to expand in the future, which was taken by many listeners as the possibility of adding HD/Updated versions of LC and VC and possibly the rest of SA and some new cities to GTA Online itself. Hopefully thats what they have planned for the future, since they sort of hinted at it.
