Why don't these dumbies put out a demo of the game so people can try, you know if people play the demo the more people will want it?

Y u so stupid? barf8bd.gif

Because the game like this doesn`t need a demo. You see a game and you want a demo to test if you want to buy it, with GTA it`s not the case. You don`t need a demo for a masterpiece! I would have bought the game if they didn`t show anything at all. R* are awesome at making games, they are perfectionists. They don`t just publish a game and say "that will do" NO! they say "we could do better", that is why their games are awesome! They don`t release a game unless it`s perfect! And that`s not fanboyism, that`s from my own experience, because I have been with R* since GTA3 and they have never let me down.

Only crappy games release demos -- games that have to persuade you to get their game by playing it prior to buying it. GTA is the complete opposite. I guarantee 95% of the millions of people who are buying it today were already convinced to buy it when (or even before) the first trailer came out in 2011.

You cant really put a demo on a gta game. Any game that has a story probably Wont have one. If its a multiplayer demo/beta thats another story

Because demos don't do justice to open world games like GTA.

Look at the Sleeping Dogs demo for example, it just couldn't capture the essence of the game. I wouldn't be surprised if it lost them sales.

I have a hard time imagining how they'd enclose the demo. Like, how would they limit what you can do? They'd have to put up invisible walls around the playable area to limit the gameplay.

What would putting a demo out achieve? The game wouldn't experience any great increase in downloads as a result of having a demo out, and I cannot see how exposure to an unfinished version of the game would help anyone.

Unfortunately you can't claim that anyone else is dumb when you are yet to obtain a solid grasp of the grammar of the English language.

f*ckING IDIOT I CAN TOO ASSHOLE!!!!

Company's that don't put out a demo, that game usually fails as a good game, and also the game demo does not cost money to make, and you will see if a demo isn't released there will be all kinds of bugs and things wrong with the game, that is why most company's do, and you are also wrong rockstar games has put demo's out before, go search the internet and you will find a demo made by rockstar games!!!!

They know people will buy it. Putting out a demo will only cost time, development money and potential sales. Also I personally never like demos because they are sh*ttier versions of the real game.

This.

Plus, you can't put a cap on an open world game as big as this and really give players a good taste of the game. Its about freedom, and demo's have to be highly restrictive or people won't feel the need to purchase the full game.

It worked just fine for the GTA 1 demo, they had a ten minute timer, you could go anywhere in the map within those ten minutes.

One major flaw with R* is the fact they don't release a demo / open beta for us to test, so we can't find the bugs, give suggestions on improving the game, because the public find more problems with the game then the dev's themself do.

Rockstar have an entire team of people, not just the developers, whose sole task is to repeatedly play and test the game over and over again searching for bugs and providing feedback. No need for a public beta for a game like GTA.

That last post of yours is just pure nonsense. There aren't even that many game demos being released anymore. Especially for an established franchise there is no need to release a silly demo. And no demo means the game usually fails as a good game? Really? Please.

Wanting a demo is just pure entitlement and nothing else. People who claim a beta is needed don't say so because they want to help out, they say so because they want to play a game for free. With actual paid testers betas shouldn't even be needed for most games.

this ^^

a demo for an immersive open-world isn't the same as a demo for a linear game with "levels" and well defined areas. you want an 8gb demo to let you check out the whole map??

what kind of idea of how the complete game will be would a demo consisting of only a couple blocks of playable area give you? not a very good one IMO. how would you like to get a 3-star wanted level on a demo map that is about the size of a 3-star wanted level search radius?

the GTA experience is about freedom, exploration and a wide variety of mini-games, activities & challenges. you can't represent that in a demo. this is not a FPS where the only change in the whole game is level design and enemies.

IIRC the GTA 1 demo was time-limited, like you could do and explore w/e you wanted, but the game shut you down after so many mins. there was a crack to take the time limit off but it still didn't have all the minigames or missions. obviously R* decided this wasn't worth doing since no GTA since then has had a demo & i think giving it some thought it's not hard to see why. this game sells itself; there is no reason to spend money and developer hours on an abbreviated version.
