Why don't Rockstar release a demo?

Why don't these dumbies put out a demo of the game so people can try, you know if people play the demo the more people will want it?

What would putting a demo out achieve? The game wouldn't experience any great increase in downloads as a result of having a demo out, and I cannot see how exposure to an unfinished version of the game would help anyone.

Unfortunately you can't claim that anyone else is dumb when you are yet to obtain a solid grasp of the grammar of the English language.

Because you and other people will get the game anyway.

One major flaw with R* is the fact they don't release a demo / open beta for us to test, so we can't find the bugs, give suggestions on improving the game, because the public find more problems with the game then the dev's themself do.

They know people will buy it. Putting out a demo will only cost time, development money and potential sales. Also I personally never like demos because they are sh*ttier versions of the real game.

Only a few games nowdays have demos, and GTA never had one. How can you put out a demo with GTA. They'd have to cut of most of the map somehow, exclude most of radio stations etc.. to reduce it to ''demo size''.

Only linear games usually have a demo where you get to play one or two missions or sports games where you're limited to a couple of teams and arenas. Open world games are much harder to do demo, and nobody needs it really except for you ungrateful, impatient little kids who can't wait another 25 days.

That's why there this thing called ''patching'' the game.

That's not a flaw. They don't want a bunch of amateurs playing their game for fun under the pretence of 'testing'. You do realise in modern gaming the beta has pretty much replaced a demo, except now the game developer has the brilliant fall back excuse of 'it's still beta, don't worry about the sh*t quality'; but they'll release the full game exactly the same.

Look at Battlefield 3 Alpha and Beta. I was part of both of those and the Alpha was a seriously good, fun game. The beta came around and was opened up to the general public, it was nowhere near as fun. People complained and nothing much was done between beta and the full version because the beta was essentially the finished MP game.

Simply put, 'betas' are a waste of time and demos aren't needed because people will buy GTA V regardless of any demo.

I haven't played demos for years, if a game is good I know it's good, and I purchase it.

If it's not, I don't. Simple as that.

I like demos in general, they are a good marketing tool if someone is on the fence about buying it without resorting to piracy. Rockstar do not need to make a demo however, they have such a good reputation that the game will be worth it that there is no need for it.

You all say you don't want a demo, but I guarantee if one came out, you would all give in and download it.

Nope I won't.

I don't want too see any spoilers of the game, so why should I play a demo?

Releasing a demo goes against everything Rockstar stands for in terms of marketing strategy for their GTA games. Releasing a demo would just answer too many of the questions Rockstar loves their fans to rack their brains and ask themselves and others about the final game, it would ruin the mystique thats served them so well over the years. Never happen.

A demo would ruin an open world game like GTA V. Better to wait for the real thing seen as though it's only 3.5 weeks away

You dont need a demo for a game live gtav, everybody knows its going to be fantastic so just buy the thing already.

This.

Plus, you can't put a cap on an open world game as big as this and really give players a good taste of the game. Its about freedom, and demo's have to be highly restrictive or people won't feel the need to purchase the full game.
