We had bouncer jobs in TBOGT, I found those good so if I keeps up to that level then why not. I'd prefer it if the developers took their time to making more vehicles though (inb4 Trolls, I'm happy with the amount of vehicles already, I'm just saying I think it would be more productive)

I always dreamt to be a honest white collar citizen in the GTA franchise smile.gif

This is what happens when people obsess over "realism" in GTA. Never got why some people push for realism so hard in these games. They're not supposed to be realistic, they're supposed to be fun!

Well since there is a stock market, you can be a stock broker/ investment banker

I think it would add to the realism of the game. The ability to climb up the corporate ladder.

The ability to pursue careers (introducing a sort of Sims mechanic to the franchise) and make the game even more dynamic. Thejob(s) should be OPTIONAL, for those that want to make a few legal bucks on the side. Careers can include (law enforcement, bank teller, Cluckin' Bell,

etc. And each job can have a reward system. For example, a Cluckin' Bell employee can get

discounts on items on the menu, or a sales rep with merchandise)

Thoughts anyone?

I hate when people start with "I think it would add to the realism of the game" as if any sort of realism would be a good thing for the game. What about once you die in-game you're game-over and you won't be able to play anymore no matter what you do? That would be quite realistic. Get what I'm saying?

Having a 'real' job wouldn't work due to it being boring. If they did do it they would try to make it amusing though...say working at clucking bell and a mini game is to jizz into the chicken batter lol... That happens in real life you now but on a serious note...jobs would only work if it was like bein a repo man, bodyguard or Hitman or a boss of a business that has a shady side to it.

Fuel, jobs. What's next, taxes? And if you don't pay Michael has to serve his prison term in real-time.

GTA fan from the United Kingdom

NO, its stressful enough trying to get a job in real life, the last thing I want is to have to look for one when im trying to relax and enjoy myself playing a game.

Only if the jobs are:

- Bank robber

- Pick-pocketer (is that the word?)

- Kidnapper

- Serial killer

- Crooked cop

- Getaway driver

- Burglar

- Enforcer

In other words, I'll find plenty of jobs in GTA.

People chill out, he said this would be optional

Doesn't matter if it's optional or not.

Should developers spend time making an elaborate restaurant simulation part of the game?

Maybe a garbage collecting minigame? Beach combing?

It would be optional.

Rockstar (The Benz I think ?) said it's better to have a few mini games well developped and well made than a tons of mini games poorly elaborated and not memorable.

///not the exact quote, but that's the idea///

GTA IV had a job but I bet you didn't do it.Taxi Missions you could go to the Cab Depot and get fares.

Well, i'm not even going to bother reading all the replies to this, i can see all of the "Realism Haters" posting. Again, i don't see why not, it would add another dimension to the game, and for those who say no.. i ask you, if it was in the game, would you get a job? - simply you don't have to, so there is no reason for you to be upset.

Same goes with a fuel option, they could easily add a "On/Off" for fuel option in the settings. I love the idea, we dont have to actually work the shift, but atleast get there and go into the marker, and then it skips 3-8 hours, depending on your shift. I think it would add a huge dynamic to the world.

I am with anyone who would like more realism added! Yes please!

dont mind doing something somewhat related to the character like Luis Lopez in TBOGT but implementing a whole working environment is a little too much.

Ah, pretty sure if its optional, that benefits people like you who hate realistic things..

Plus, its not such a hard thing to add, all they need to do is put a marker out the front, edit some scripts so once your shift is complete you get money.

Im sure its a easy-do for a company like Rockstar.

Issue with you people is that you all just cant be bothered doing any of the realistic stuff. You couldn't be bothered pouring petrol or following road rules. There is so much they could do, but half of you hate the fact it makes the game more realistic.

It would completely defeat the purpose of the game. GTA is about the gangster underworld. Gangsters don't have jobs. Dumb idea.

Yeah, what about we turn GTA into the Sims ? Grand Theft Auto is about stealing cars, drugs, money, murder and sex. What the actual f*ck guys ? They are already turning this into Tour de france and sh*t and you want to make it worse ? Comon guys...

Do you actually exist?

How the f*ck do you exist? And why?

These "Realism Haters" you speak of are actually just people who are not completely f*cking delusional and recognize that THIS IS NOT A GODDAMNED SIMS GAME YOU ABSOLUTE WEIRDO

The game Shenmue done this and I liked it. The protag worked at the docks and had to load boxes with a forklift. Shenmue was the first open-world crime game. You could even buy little figurines and stuff out of quarter machines.

Go make your own game and call it "Repetitive job simulator job 1''. People have repetitive jobs in real life. We don't want them in GTA.

GTA is like a Hollywood movie. We don't want a Hollywood movie where you have to look at a regular scheduled job that someone goes to each day. Boring jobs are depicted. But the boring parts get cut out. What you want to have seems to be a game where you have to completely follow the schedule. That is just tiring to most people.

I'd bet you could make a very high quality game where you simulate someone having to go through trafic and doing a boring job, but it would be hard to make dialogue for every tactical choie you make within the company and also make a life sized realistic city and everything in there. It would be a super next gen thing. And it might be a high quality game, but it'd likely be boring, and it would not be GTA.

Super realistic games are often pretty boring. Flight simulators or proper pc racing simulators are not accessible to large crowds. GTA is not a simulator. It's a fun game that is realistic up to the level of where it is entertaining. It's not a reality simulator.

There is so much they could do but a lot of those things are absolute sh*t.

It doesn't matter if something is optional because it still takes time and money away from the more important features.

You can't honestly believe that adding jobs to GTA is wanted by enough people to warrant spending a part of the gaming budget on.

GTA is not a real life simulator. GTA is a franchise about criminal activity and not about having a legit job. It just doesn't add anything good to the game. Playing as if you are working is more than likely not something a good amount of people want. Heck, it is probably just you and the OP who think it may be cool. And even then I can see the both of you abandoning it after a few minutes. It is just a waste of resources on Rockstar's part.

In the end games are supposed to be fun and not a simulator of mundane activities.

You know guys, this could actually work in a certain context. Maybe getting a job at a bank or a software company or something would be boring for a while....but then you also get access codes and you get to 'case the joint'. You can then become the 'inside man' and then go in with your heisting crew to rob the vault or steal the source code to a program and make a lot of money.

This could tie into the stock market as well. You invest in a software company, get a job at rival software company to get security clearances and case the joint (You'd want to do this, you need passwords, stuff to fool the biometric scanners, etc), steal the source code to rival software company's upcoming program, then sell it to the company you invested in. Then news gets out that rival software company had their source code stolen, so their stock tanks as your company's stock goes up as they announce their 'new' program.

But sh*t like working at Clucking Bell or whatever GTA is gonna have to riff on Walmart? Yea, I'll pass.
