Should GTA V introduce the ability to have a job

I think it would add to the realism of the game. The ability to climb up the corporate ladder.

The ability to pursue careers (introducing a sort of Sims mechanic to the franchise) and make the game even more dynamic. Thejob(s) should be OPTIONAL, for those that want to make a few legal bucks on the side. Careers can include (law enforcement, bank teller, Cluckin' Bell,

etc. And each job can have a reward system. For example, a Cluckin' Bell employee can get

discounts on items on the menu, or a sales rep with merchandise)

Thoughts anyone?

something like this has already been confirmed. you can buy businesses and sh*t

plus-Franklin has a legit job at the beginning of the game from what we've been told.

I like the idea of doing legit jobs

yes, they should make GTA sim edition. I hope there is enough time for them to implement all these changes before release. I seriously doubt it's too late.

If you remember the GTAO interview with The Benz, they said they'll implement the level of realism that fans want. "If players want to cook a pizza, we can implement that. We can make them buy the ingredients, too". That's basically what The Benz said.

Seeing as how most GTA players don't want a normal occupation, though, I don't see it happening (at least not in the foreseeable future). Something like fuel is a more feasible realistic addition that just may be implemented one day.

No, because on a real job you need to go there 5 or 6 days a week, even 7 if you're a nobody working for a crook. And then you spend half of your day at work. Trust me, you don't want to spend 8 in game hours (16 real minutes) standing behind a counter at cluckin bell and serving food. How did it ever occur to you that could be fun?

Play Mafia II, there's a mission where you're on a truck and you hand cigars to your friend who sells them. That only lasts for about a minute, now imagine doing that every in game day.

Their job is to be criminals, that's why the game is fun. If you want a ''real'' job in a game, play any of the simulator games, they've got it all, from a mailman to a toilet cleaner these days.

This is ridiculous. Why would you want to play a game, and stand for hours behind a counter at cluck'n'bell?... Im very confused by this thread. Just walk into your kitchen, cook for 8 hours then turn GTA V on and kill one pedestrian to get $100 and pretend you made it doing your stupid f*cking job. Done

People, stop confusing this for the sims please. Also you do have a job, you kill people for money. Why would you also work a 9/5?

It's callled GRAND THEFT AUTO. The main protagonist's job is being a CRIMINAL. You want a job in a game? Play the Sims.

I never thought I'd see 9 to 5 jobs suggested again.

This is like buying Ace Combat to be an aircraft mechanic. Or buying Crackdown to be a traffic cop.

No, there won't be 9 to 5s in GTA. You're a criminal. That's your job.

I wouldn't mind if they were in, but seriously? You have a world where you can steal jets or hang out at a beach on a jet ski all day and you want to be a fry cook? Such a waste of a game.

I can't tell if you're trolling or as ridiculous as most everyone is pointing out

Why the sh*t would I want to Sims sh*t up with a regular job when I can make millions by pulling off heists -- the focus of the entire game

I work enough in my real life, the last thing I want is a game that I have to work in. Id rather do things I cant or wont do in real life....like Rob liquor stores and Banks and kill things!

you can pretend to have a job

drive to a grocery store or something and stand behind the cash register for 8 hours like you are a cashier

You've taken that quote waaaaay out of context. He was referring to the balance of the game and how deep they could go with the realism. They decided against such actions, further stating that although it is immersive, it is time consuming and just not fun.

Even if I like realism in GTA. "Normal" jobs are too sims-like for me, honestly.

But, I like and liked the (old) side missions, you know, cops, EMS, fire dept., even taxi. That was fun when I was bored of free roaming.

I wouldn't mind if they have 'level' into these side missions.

But no normal jobs ! That's boring.

dont mind doing something somewhat related to the character like Luis Lopez in TBOGT but implementing a whole working environment is a little too much.

Well, taxi missions are back. That's better than stacking shelves or flipping burgers.
