I love the name, because I'm a huge fan of the series, but GTA is much more than a crime game. I think The Benz said it best... "We all live lives. Normal people doing normal things. So that's what we base it on. It's based on (life). If you think of something, chances are it's going to work. Like the car insurance - it's real life. You pay an insurance premium, you phone them up when it gets nicked, you get it back. So everything is based on normality - with a little twist, of course." I think something like "Twisted Reality" or something that means the same thing. I imagine GTA stories will always be about crime, but they really could be about anything. If they hadn't have chosen "Grand Theft Auto" for a name, the series would be less controversial because it would be less well known by parents wanting to keep their kids away from it.
