black_benz
So none of you remember hearing Yusuf say it all the time in TBoGT? Yusuf used the word Nigga not ni**er Which are apparently two completely different meaning No, no they are not and people need to stop pretending they are. They mean the exact same thing and for one to be offensive and one not to be is just silly. it's like pretending Gangster and gangsta are two completely different things. Its not like "N*gga" has some completely different word origin than "N*gger", its the same damn word just shortened a tiny bit. A gangster is a member of some organized criminial family. A gangsta is a member of some unorganized petty street affiliation. The latter is obviously derived from the former, but that doesn't mean they mean the same thing. People can create contextual differences with words depending on cultural factors. Even Wikipedia defines the two words differently (the N word). girothefiro
People take the 'ni**er' vs 'nigga' too literally. It's only to differentiate the two in literature. IRL people know the context of how they are using the word and how it is being used against them. I don't know why the OP felt the need to post this. Has he never played SA? At the end of the day no one needs to be saying the word unless they're racist or teaching about the history of racism.

G D
The amount of ignorance in this thread is astounding. Welcome to GTAForums, the land of ignorance. But more commonly known as "The worst place in the internet" you see, GTAForums actually shares something with GTA. more specifically, Liberty City. Hellomynameis
Not entirely off topic: is it possible to turn off word-censoring? It looks so childish.

gwaha
Right, nigga and ni**er have a different meaning. A white person, even if they aren't racist, will immediately get called a racist if they would use the word nigga. Either a word is racist or not, no matter how you pronounce it. universetwisters
A white person, even if they aren't racist, will immediately get called a racist if they would use the word nigga. What's the reason? Why is an entire ethnicity of people barred for saying a word? Why don't black people who say "nigga" or "ni**er" get labeled a racist? f*cking double standards
Kirsty
End of the day, taking this spelling from the rating does not give us any information about what context it is said in or who says it. Context is everything. I can say though with 100% certainty that Rockstar won't ever allow someone to say it in a way that is glorifying racism and/or misuse of the term. And to those making remarks, open discussion is allowed but blatant racism is never tolerated here I think we'll end it here before it turns into an unhealthy debate, as we'll find out more come September 17th.
