After venturing into the pre-pubescent realms of the GTA:V section I packed my bags and took a hike over to the Lounge area of the forum. Following the brief transition I immediately noticed a difference in the content posted within the two subforums. Let me elaborate, the GTA:V section is filled with immature threads, illiteracy, duplicate threads and silly sh*t that isn't thread worthy at all. Conversely, the Lounge has "real" conversations if you get me, the type of responses above the 'OMG GTAAA' and 'bring it on f*cker' responses that plague the V section. I can't wait until V is out, hopefully this forum will die down and all of the children will leave, leaving this forum to the players who actually appreciate the series for something other than killing everybody.

Damn kids ruin everything.

It's great to have the lounge. I enjoy the conversation's and general points of views here. Thank heavens that those kids don't come in here. The V section is AIDS on this site and the lounge is the cure. icon14.gif

I'll admit that I go there, though. That's where I get a lot of tounge.gif 's from. Plus that section is mainly responsible for the quotable notables thread being a success. tounge2.gif

General Chat can be bad too, in a different way. Usually posts are best in the smaller sections, probably because you're more pressured to make good posts. On forums like the V-forum, /b/, or reddit's bigger subreddits when you take a sh*t on the ground it's hidden among everyone else's sh*t, so people keep doing it just to do something, and the room ends up smelling really disgusting.

Just don't get the idea that you, or anyone in this section is better than anyone in that section just because they post in the V-forum. There are well thought-out posts in there.

e: Also, not everyone you're talking about in your post is a kid. A lot of those goofballs are grown-up adults.

There was a time, many years ago, when the Lounge section of forums was at the top of the subforum list, and the GTA section was squirelled away in the middle. Different times.

Glad you escaped the cesspool, welcome aboard.

I never used to post in the Lounge ever when I first joined, V was a pretty respectable place back in 2011. I've slowly migrated over here over 3 years because the Lounge is just a much nicer forum.

Another thing I'd like to add is that its actually only a few members who make the V section an unpleasant place to be, people like THIS IDIOT are the ones who make the forum a pain in the ass! They're worse than the obvious spammers because at least those guy get get punished, the sly ones don't get punished because there's nothing in the rules about being annoying and a bigot monocle.gif

Hush now, you shouldn't talk about the V section like that, you'll hurt the posters feelings. sigh.gif

Lol, all her posts are junk and spam...

However, there are some kids over The Lounge who are quite mature... Anyway, wait until V is released and the school time starts again and everything will be quieter again.

I wish we could jump into our screen, and have conversations in actual lounges! Wouldn't that be neat?

Haha, exactly how I feel. Man, I used to love the V forums. But now there's little intelligent discussion, and a lot more bickering, spam, trolling, and just sh*tty posts. Not to say that every member there sucks, far from it. But the sh*tty members just ruin it for everyone else.

I quite enjoy the lounge, the discussions and arguments that occur in it are interesting to read and in few cases take part in.

The V section is the epitome of Clusterf*ck

The way the voting system works on reddit filters out all the crap - and threaded comments work well, too.

The V section is what you make of it. I found that for the majority of threads made there, it's better to observe rather than engage. Rule of thump generally is is to not engage in discussions with people who clearly have no clue whatsoever what the word constitutes, i.e the vast majority of the V section. Furthermore it's better to not antagonize anyone, unless you want your PM spammed with hateful messages and be pestered every time you post, that is. This section generally spoken is much more laid back and open to discussion, in a sense that engaging in a mature debate is possible without being drowned in ad hominem. Which should be a huge relief coming form the V section. Anyhow welcome to the land of the mentally sound.

Pretty much what Raavi said above. The only reason why I browse the V section anymore is solely for kicks.

While it lasts, those subreddits will fair well. Near and past the release of GTA V there'll probably be a large influx of /r/gaming users, and you know where the quality will go then.

I do have to say the discussion there is almost always better than in the V forum, though. Plus I like the 'from GTA 1 - 5' posts, really nice to see the vehicle development through the games.

Anyhoo, the lounge is still noticeably better than the V forum but don't get on a high horse.

Comparing anything to the GTA V forums is like comparing any movie to Space Thunder Kids.

It'll always be better.

Adriaan, are you an active member of the GTA V subreddit? I am an avid follower of it but never have stopped to question if any of the people there were GTAF members.

The difference between Gen Chat and the V forum is like day and night. I have been watching the GTAV section for quite some time until I decided to join the forums. Even now after over a year of posting in the most active sub-forum, I'm still active there most of the time. I'm used to all the spam, negativity and more spam. It's the usual course of a day in the V section, and it will presumably not be much different in the next few months to a year.

I have to agree with this. But when I first joined back in 2011, I was quite immature. It was actually my favorite section.

But I slowly matured with time, eventually realizing how stupid that section really is. Now and then I still go in that sh*thole, but I don't post much nowadays.

I usually just go around and try to find something I'm interested in.

I stopped reading right at that point because I knew what you were going to say.

I would like the mods to do a little better jobs with some of the "freedom" that goes on

in popular forms like V section. I mean its just absolute abomination of common sense

that goes on over there.

I feel myself losing brain cells quickly as I skim through some of most dumbest topics

known to mankind. I mean Jesus...but then again I know if I really wanted to I could

contribute a little more to overall forum and not just go over the the V section of it.

I'm thinking about writing a short story and submitting in the writers section, but I don't have the time right now.

General chit chat and other sections in the lounge is where you'll find older members who have better things to do than to constantly have to deal with GTA fan boys over there in the V section.

I'm not sure why I didn't move to this part earlier but it's a great section. Also the TV section is pretty great

Damn the V section. That sh*t's like Chernobyl to GTAF. I agree with previous posters about 2011 being much better. It was a simpler time, the Leaks topic, the Animals And Children topic... I wasn't posting... glad I found this place when I did, because there'd be no way I'd return if I'd come in late 2012 or around then, because that V subforum was crawling with Zee and wannabee Zees.
