My wife smokes them on occasion, if anything it helps cut down on the money she spends on cigarettes.

I on the other hand cannot stand them, the taste reminds me of the taste of meth.

I agree. They taste like absolute sh*t when the cartridges get next to empty. That's for the gas station ones but i don't know about the more expensive vaporizers. I've never tasted meth though so I'm not sure about that. confused.gif

I had a drag of a friend's e-cig a few years ago. It tasted like popcorn.

You say the liquid lasts a week, how many 'cigarettes' is that?

It all depends on how much you smoke, and the tanks come in all different sizes, the one I have atm holds 2.oML, which does me for most of the day, once its empty you jusrt unscrew the top and refill.

The thing about ecigs that unlike a normal cig, they don't burn out, you can just puff away on them all day (if you want, plus you won't feel like crap if you do chain smoke it) so that can lash through the stuff, but again if you buy a good quality e liquid ( the refills) and e cig, you'll be fine. the cheap ones claim to equal 40 normal cigs but that is complete BS.

As for the popcorn taste, ya there are a huge selection of eliquids in every type of flavour from tobacco to candyfloss! so your friend could have had a popcorn flavoured one tounge.gif on a more serious note, all eliquids taste diff, so two tobacco flavours will not taste the same, plus you can get ones that try to replicate diff tobacco types, eg rolling tobacco or say malboro red. you just need to experiment to find your prefeered choice.

It is different to normal smoking, but think of it as just changing brand. I would choose my ecig over a normal cig any day over a normal cig now, because I prefer the taste.

Yeah just had a good chuckle at some of the liquid names. Pale Mall biggrin.gif

So you smoked 20 real cigarettes a day, and about 2ml of the liquid is your equivalent? I noticed they have different strengths, what nicotine dose are you using?

Also, what brand did you used to smoke? I smoke Amber Leaf rollies, and according to pals I roll quite strong cigarettes - I keep imagining this e-cig being too weak to do anything for me.

haha, same brand as rollies i used to smoke. I'd use 16mg to 18mg gives good satisfaction to cravings and gives a nice throat hit, as you work down to lower levels of nicotine, the 'hit' will get weaker, so prob try diff flavours then. as for taste, a few brands claim to be 'similar' to real brands, but end of the day they are not going to taste like actual burning tobacco. you just got to experiment with different types to you find one you like. you can buy small sample bottles for like €3.

Just one heads up, you won't like them straight away, it'll take a while to adjust to the new flavour. just like switching brands. like you I loved my amber leaf, but last week I took a pull from my buddies rollie and I nearly got sick it was horrible. you just got to wean yourself on to the new flavour. Good luck if you try and make the switch. you will feel better by the end of yhe monyh. Just make sure to do research to get best experience. too many people have given up on ecigs becasue they buy those cheap over the counter ones.

icon14.gif

Good to know there's a throat hit, something I was concerned about.

How much are you spending on liquid a week? Any money saved is a bonus, but as you know Amber Leaf is pretty cheap as it is.

Are there any quality pieces you can recommend for around £20-40? I'd rather not shell out too much for something I haven't had a good try of.

Edit - Also something I was gonna ask, do you prefer taking drags through the day as you need it, or setting aside five minutes periods like a real cig?

well im quite a heavy user, and atm I keep buying different flavours and brands as im still trying to find a really nice flavour, plus im enjoying trying all the diff flavours.but about 5-8 euro a week for 1 0r 2 medium sized bottles, which will last me bout a week and a half. But again I have the thing in my mouth practically non stop so my book that's a huge saving. I'd go through a 12.5g box of amber leaf in two days!

best thing to start off imo and from others around the interwebs would be an ego T (just type it in) and then look around for online stores in your country or local shops in your area. the ego is simple to use and should be around €40, I got two with a little case for €50 online as a lot of sites offer starter kits for beginners. Just stay the hell away from any ones that actually look like real cigs, the good ones are just chunky metal tubes with a clear tank at the top.

as for drags, I had to train myself to use them like real cigs as they don't burn out, so I would take 20 drags then put it down and repeat once cravings hit, but sometimes i'll just be puffin away on it whenever I feel like as you won't feel awful if you chain smoke it like normal cigs, plus no smell and the vape disappears fast= perfect for planes, buses, cinema tounge.gif

I've only had two kinds before, and they were alright. The first one was a really cheap one from the gas station and it had like a pineapple flavor to it and it wasn't strong at all.

The other one was one of the more expensive ones and it was really strong and tasted like a real cigarette does.

QUOTE (Voodoo @ Monday, Aug 19 2013, 14:08)

I quit smoking about a year ago by switching to vapor. The cig-alikes are pretty much all crap with short lived batteries and substandard liquids. I started with a couple of eGo style USB passthrough batteries, some Vision style tanks and some decent quality e-liquids from a local vendor. Quitting smoking was ridiculously easy this way. Since then, I've picked up some nice atomizers, tanks, mods and found a few more high quality juice vendors. I feel better and my house, vehicles and clothes don't smell like ass anymore.

Here's one of my rigs.

Never heard of those, how much a decent one would cost me?

A few guys in my school used to smoke these in class. The ones that look like silver pens.

I havn't smoked since I was 12 and I'm 18 now, but I only smoked 3 or 4 a week so I don't know much about smoking and it's health issues and addiction issues.

But I was told these things keep you addicted to nicotine and the expencive ones taste exactly like real smokes. The benefits are that they save you money and aren't bad for your lungs. They're becoming more popular every year. I tried one once and it tasted funny and made my throat itchy for a few hours.

I smoked real cigs for nearly 30 years. This month I celebrate 1 full year - not one slip, not one drag.

Anyway...enjoy those e-cigs while you can. I sense a group of angry woman (with nothing better to do) stepping in and bitching about how they are targeted towards kids in the interest of getting kids addicted to tobacco.

That one is a Z-Atty-Pro atomizer mounted on a ProVari Mini mod with the extender cap. They're a little spendy but the build quality on them is outstanding. Add some batteries, wick and coil and the unit together was just under $400. That may seem like a lot but I've had it since last OCt and would have spent two grand on cigs in the year since I quit.

Rebuildable attys are great in that you roll the wick from stainless steel mesh and wrap your own coil. It's infinitely customizable and there's none of the off taste you might get from a fiber wick. Like I tell everyone though, the best and most convenient kit to start on is an eGo style. Two batteries with two clearomizer tanks, a USB charge cord and adapter and maybe some e-liquid to get started should be around $30-50 depending on the power rating of the batteries. Here's an example.

I'll definitely give a try, plus $400 doesn't sound like much, if you consider I spend an average of $120 monthly buying packs.

Going to get one of those eGo style you've mentioned and try it out, thanks a lot for the tip.

Look for a local shop. Most of them will have e-liquid samples set out that you can try to see what you like. Most also sell a kit like I posted and will give you a discount on it. You'll probably want to start around 18-24mg nicotine and then taper down. I'm at 6mg now but the extra at first made it really easy not to want to smoke. After your taste buds come back alive in the first couple of weeks, cigs will taste total crap and you won't be able to stand the smell on your clothes. I was p surprised.

Aren't these to give up smoking?

they can be used to assist in quitting altogether.

they can also be used as an alternative to cigarettes.

I'm not a tobacco smoker but I have no problem with Ecigs.

they're certainly safer than cigarettes both for the user and the people around them.

The benefits are through the roof.

Vape anywhere you want, not have family on your case about your health, having them taste better than cigs and an overall cheaper investment.

It makes me wish I was a smoker just so I could convert and use these awesome gadgets.

That is, not those cheap cig immitations but the proper sh*t Voodoo is linking to.

Because i have a different opinion? lol.gif  they are a waste of time and like i said you need to constantly buy new filters for them, which can be hard to find in my area. not to mention that they dont taste like real smoke at all. i would rather have a real cigarette than this fake crap. but fine if you wanna pretend to be a smoker then by all means keep buying e-cigs, good for you.

No, your experience appears to be limited to cheap gas station crap. I don't even know WTF you mean by "filters". There are no filters in an e-cig. You don't know what you are talking about because you barely know anything about the subject. There are hundreds if not thousands of different flavors of e-liquids and many different styles of devices. I smoked cigarettes for years and enjoyed it very much. I mainly quit because I was tired of feeling and smelling like sh*t all the time. It took a few tries to find flavors I liked but since the first month it has been much better than smoking. I own several different types of vaporizers and have been vaping exclusively for a year.

You don't have an opinion because frankly, you know f*ck all about the subject.

Yeah because obviously knowing about e-cigs needs a f*cking diploma. and i meant cartridges when i said filters, they refer to them as filters in other languages. anyway im done arguing on this subject, who knew that you could get into a stupid argument with someone on the internet for just for stating your opinion? oh and you should lose the attitude, you sound like an immature little kid.

I find it very hilarious that you won't accept that you made a rash comment with lack of information.

It's pretty obvious you've never tried quality e-cigarettes properly, you most likely heard from a friend, or bought a cheap one once and base all your opinions of e-cigarettes on that one experience.

I don't even smoke any kind of cigarettes so I am not coming from a bias point of view.

And regular cigarettes would have the same effect.

Actually, that can be due to the PG/VG ratio of the juice. Some people get that tight chest feeling from vegetable glycerin. Just experiment with the ratio to find what works. Any quality vendor will offer mixes from 100/0 to 0/100 PG/VG. Vegetable glycerin will give you great vapor production while propylene glycol tends to transfer flavor better. I like different ratios depending on the juice.

I have one, but I don't use it a lot. Probably because I wanted to try it out of curiosity, and not because I'm a smoker who's trying to quit.

Haha, I've heard/read a lot of comments like "Vaping is for girls and fags, real men smoke real cigarettes!" I can almost smell their desperation to be manly.

E-cigs are the best what humanity has invented as an alternative to traditional cigs. I was a hard smoker for a long time but with vape I managed to reduce the nicotine level I intake every day. Also, e-cigs generate much less smogs and cancerogenic matters. I ordered my last vape on MigVapor. Recommend.

Ecigs are great until you go back to regular cigs, then you start smoking more of them.

Sinner!

I had an electronic Cigar once & it did nothing for me. though to be fair, it's near on impossible to replicate premium Cuban tobacco...bring me a COHIBA!

Cigarettes are repulsive, so any alternative must be better.

My dad always makes a silent tantrum everytime he comes across someone with one. Last time it happened was on the Roger Waters concert in November, prior to the start of the show. I personally don't mind them, but I worry about what he could do in order to express his discomfort, especially in public places. He had respiratory complications when he was younger and still uses an inhaler to this day.

Water on the lungs is a myth. There is a lot of misinformation floating around partly due to ignorance and partly due to the potential financial impact on the profit of big tobacco companies. All of the benefits we knew of years ago are still valid. I'm still vaping and haven't used tobacco in over six years. I'm using 0mg and 3mg eliquid now and mainly vape for the flavors and as a hobby building coils and collecting mods. I've amassed a pretty large collection of mechanical and regulated devices over the years. Unfortunately, there will always be some idiot blowing clouds in public but I try to be respectful of others and only vape at home and in my car.

IQOS is a Big Tobacco product. No way in hell I'll be supporting them. I'm currently using a Dani Mini box with a Kayfun Lite 2019 on top. Best combo I ever got.

I like the Purge. Would I still have been into mechs, this would be one to get for sure. I do have a Purge Suicide King Squonk laying around (403/500) along with a green Viper, but they're not in use anymore. The Suicide King Squonk has never been used, even. It's sitting pretty in it's box.

I actually should have picked up an ultem/stabwood version too, instead of the Suicide King Squonk. it's a fingerprint magnet and heavy enough to drown an elephant with, hence it's still in the box.

I do have a load of mechs, also no longer in my rotation as I kinda left the squonking scene, and am back at MTL vaping since a few months. One of my favored mech squonkers was the Dotsquonk. I have 8 of those.... and 2 Dotsquonk 100W boxes too. Somehow, they got the form factor tailored to my hands.

Nowadays, it's Kayfuns and Dani mods, with that damn good performing Dicodes board. I've never resorted to the Cloudz bruh douchery in public and with my current devices it is fairly impossible to do. For out and about, or office work, I use a Lost Vape Orion pod. Fits nicely in the pocket and packs enough punch to get me through the day. I mainly vape 0mg to 3mg tops and my ADV is Charly's Chalk Dust, Ms Meringue. Warning: if you use this liquid, your atty will need a clean diper , every 4mls of juice :D :D
