After completing the mission "Stowaway", the main character jumps from an airplane. How to make the MAP at a height not loaded full? (there were no gaps in the map and was the range less than one kilometer?) Sorry my English.

Try decreasing the Factor 1 value in the .ini file

Not quite sure, it just affects the viewing distance while you're up in the sky

which parameter is responsible for the range of rendering textures and models - instead of LOD object? (VC and SA)

I have been wondering the same question. I believe it's DrawDistance together with MaxDrawDistanceForNormalObjects that increases draw distance for normal objects. However, it does not seem to make LODs disappear earlier which introduces a lot of overlapping objects and z-fighting in my case. Is it possible to change the parameter that controls how close camera must be for LODs to disappear?

@AddictionToGaming I've seen that article, thatnks. But it doesn't answer my question. Besides, GTA 3 and VC settings are a bit different.

There's one weird issue that I want to address about this mod. I've recently discovered that the LOD lights effect actually depends on the CPU rather than the GPU (or at least it seems to be the case). I'll briefly explain how I came to this conclusion. Recently I had to turn off Intel's turbo boost from my CPU (I have i7 8th Gen) because it's been introducing some weird issues, especially with heating. I know that probably repasting with a better thermal paste would solve my problems but I disabled turbo boost as a temporary solution. Then I tried working with my PC to see if there's a big impact on my performance and I think that everything works as good as it did before the change. I use it for programming and my projects still build as fast as before, I also tried some of my other games like Skyrim, Batman Arkham City and they were working just fine without any drop in performance or lag. But when I tried GTA 3 it was very different stoy - I had something like 10-15 FPS. When I loaded another save game it was running just fine without any lag and then I realised that the other save was during the day and probably the issue was coming from the lights effect. I opened the config file and disabled just the lod lights effect from this plugin and started the game again, loaded a save file which was during the night and voila - everything was fine again. I turned the effect on back and everything got laggy again. So isn't it weird that an effect that's supposed to be handled by the GPU actually depends on the CPU so much that it drops down the performance? Just to mention - I've set up GTA 3 to run entirely on my Nvidia GTX 1050 Ti graphics card so the intel's GPU is not involved here. And again - other newer and more demanding games like Skyrim (special edition) and Batman Arkham City run just fine.

Just a quick explanation if some of you don't know what the turbo boost is. It's just a feature that overclocks the processor up to something like 3.5 GHz (it's otherwise working at maximum 2.6 if I remember correctly) but it does it ONLY when a process demands more. Unfortunately I have an issue with that because turbo boost kicks in during a very low CPU load and it doesn't make sense, on top of that it rises the temperature so much that the processor is in thermal throttling constantly and things get nasty.

I've got the same problem. Flickering rocks, you can see them quite badly at this lake:

those rocky sides of mountains have always flickered, even on PS2 with it's very poor draw distance.

Just formatted my computer and tried to download this from GitHub and Firefox said it was a virus? Never had this before and Malwarebytes says it's clean. False positive?

I see there's a new version for III/VC/SA - 4.4, what's new? Is there any changelog?

yes, Disabled Underwater Distance from ini, now 2dfx allow game to load underwater distance from timecyc

I made donation for ThirteenAG last month for contribution to this community and along the way he accepted my idea I proposed to add that feature, he will tho fix some more issues he said in VC I think.

Spoiler

@ThirteenAG

So maybe you could please look into one old problem in SA when some "unused" objects with 0 draw distance is forced by this plugin to show up, like flying bush in Back'o'beyond and some other stupid stuff?

Somehow to not force new draw distance to objects that have draw distance = 0 in game files

Hi guys, I use this mod but I still see holes in the map when I fly. Any solution? I have 16go of RAM and a 1080ti. I use skygfx, HD icons, hud, maps, PS2 fixes, etc..

Do you have any idea?

Also unlike screenshots I still have fog, how to remove it?

fog can be removed by setting fog start distance to drawdistance in timecyc.dat (will look ugly), holes in the map should be fixed with open limit adjuster & something like load whole map script.

I'm having some trouble. I used to run 2dfx just fine on my old computer just a few months ago. Trying to install it on my new computer, no luck. It's a fresh install, with only Silent's Asi Loader, Cleo, modloader, Silent's Patch and 2dfx installed. I copied the files into a folder inside the modloader folder. What am I doing wrong?

Excuse my double post, but this game and mods are like dark magic sometimes. Before I installed my new pc, I made a backup of my GTA San Andreas folder which had Project 2DFX installed and was working fine. When I start the game from that folder, the mod works. It's installed exactly in the same way, inside a modloader folder. Even if I copy the mod's files from my working old installation into the new one, the mod doesn't work. Modloader does recognise it in the menu, but no changes in-game.

Edit: things go to another level of weirdness. Now, 2DFX doesn't work on my old install which was functioning just a few days ago either. Here's the weird part. On my new install, where 2DFX has never worked, I installed cheat menu mod yesterday. Now, when I start my old install, which doesn't have cheat menu installed (no such file or folder in the modloader folder), cheat menu works?????? What the hell?

Edit 2: Nvm, it was in the cleo folder not the modloader folder, stupid me. 2DFX still doesn't work on either install though, it worked on my old backed up install a few days ago.

Why do you mess around with modloader to use this plugin? Just use asi loader, place the files in the root or scripts folder and it will work.

Hell, sometimes I'm really surprised why people keep creating problems for themselves when there's a straight simple way to use something

That was the first thing I tried. It doesn't work. Just tried it again, doesn't work. Like I said, I backed up the "GTA San Andreas" folder from my old pc, and when I run gta.exe from there, 2DFX works (I mentioned in the last post it stopped working from that folder, but I was wrong. I had turned it off in modloader during testing and forgot).

What I could do, is very simple, just copy my old backed up GTA installation with 2DFX working, and paste it in my new installation folder. But I'd rather start over and install every mod I want one by one, and also I just want to figure out why the hell I can't get it to work because I am just curious.

Just to be clear, let me explain exactly what I did (I started and quit the game between every step to see if everything is fine):

1. Install GTA SA

2. Install Silent's asi loader

3. Install Silent's Patch

4. Install cleo

5. Install modloader

6. Paste 2DFX files inside a folder in the modloader folder

7. Go into salodlights.ini, change the following values to 10000

MinDrawDistanceOnTheGround

TimedObjectsDrawDistance

NeonsDrawDistance

LODObjectsDrawDistance

GenericObjectsDrawDistance

AllNormalObjectsDrawDistance

VegetationDrawDistance

Nothing else changed in the files. In-game, there is no difference in draw distance, and there are no light LODs. Not when 2DFX is in a modloader folder, not when it's directly in the "GTA San Andreas" folder.

If I take the 2DFX files from my old working backup, and paste them in my new installation folder, 2DFX with exactly the same settings that worked on my old install, do nothing on my new install. It really just seems like my new install is refusing to recognize 2DFX for some reason.

Edit: Here's what I'll do now, and report back:

1. Uninstall GTA SA and delete folder

2. Reinstall

3. Install Silent's asi loader

4. Install Project 2DFX with default settings directly into installation folder

This is the cleanest install of 2DFX possible as far as I'm aware.

Edit 2: Did that, with a freshly downloaded 2DFX, no luck. I'm officially lost.

Edit 3: I tried one more thing, using the gta.exe provided with Silent's asi loader. Now I when I try to start the game I get the following message:

Open Limit Adjuster

Could not detect the game version

Contact the mod creator!

Edit 4: oh that was probably because that's not a no cd crack and I didn't have the cd inserted.

Edit 5: GOT IT, I was just using the wrong gta.exe file I downloaded off some random site. It's working now.
