Of course they could make proper, really good remasted, not the awful one that we see, ported from mobile phones...

“R” is unlikely to ever do this. At the moment, this can only be done with the help of modding and achieve a very good result. Modding gta sa has achieved great success over the years. The problem is that modders do not want to combine their efforts, working as a team in one direction, to create, although not an official, but a fixed and improved version of the 2005 vanilla game.

I think I would not agree, even though I can see where you are coming from. I keep IDETweaker settings at 600, max, all of 'em. I would say that's not pushing it even by 2005 standards. Timed Objects are set to 3 with PC or PS2 General DrawDistance. I cannot understand why they haven't incorporated all those PS2 visuals on PC or at least on some later platforms, since even the 2005 mid range PC should be at least a bit more powerful than 99/00 Playstation console, would you not say?

On the other hand, sure, I can understand that someone can find PC version to be better looking than PS2, but judging simply by having greater res or similar advantage on your disposal is shortsighted thinking, even according to my limited knowledge.

That's why I'm so grateful to all those folks who helped me have the best from both worlds and see the bigger picture, so to say, not only to enjoy my favorite games and advanced visuals that for some reason haven't existed not only back then, but not even now, with newer versions. What's more, they look way 'weaker'.

I still think that those ps2 visuals shaders was very heavy to do on PC. Some people complain about skygfx causing fps drops these days! In 2005 there still were video cards without shader support like Geforce 2 Mx440 (on which I started to play SA). It even dropped FPS to 5-7 in 32-bit color mode, I was playing at 800*600*16bit near 20 fps. And the main goal was to avoid those 3d-clouds in the sky, as flying into them also dropped fps to 0-1!

Also, they cut off trails in VC. Later, when someone made menu editor and players discovered trails - enabling this caused very heavy lags on old PCs. Just basic VC trails.

Of course it's not an excuse to have so many things broken on pc, such as broken timecyc, broken frame limiter, broken double rearwheels etc.

Hmm, I'm pretty sure it's mainly because R* didn't give a single f about PC port, and optimization wise it's one of the most poorly optimized games I know of. Hell, believe it or not, I've just tried to run vanilla version of the game and to say that experience is horrible, really is an understatement. Lag, stuttering and everything that goes with it is unbearable - goes on to prove how important the Silentpatch exactly is. Also, I don't understand why people bother to play the game with frame limiter off, since it clearly breaks the game's physics. If I had to bet, I would say it was way harder to develop it for PS2 rather than for PC..

I also hate how vanilla game looks like. Can't play it without SP+Skygfx(ps2 mode)+P2dfx

I've recently installed this mod onto III and Vice City along with SilentPatch for both games. Both look great and I didn't have issues for a few days all until recently where I encountered this problem with headlights and taillights:
bandicam-2020-03-25-20-10-26-193.jpg

They all appear as these weird blocks instead of coronas like they used to. I've tried reinstalling the game along with the mod multiple times to no avail. Problem appears in III as well. If anyone has any idea how to fix this, I'd highly appreciate it.
