GTA MMO?

hi, lots of people are speculating that GTA online will be a MMO, but I just want to know in what sense. I know the basics of a MMO but to the people who think it'll be a MMO; in what way? icon14.gif

Please don't say "we will see tomorrow" icon14.gif

They probably think the basic literal meaning of it. Not how you may think of it in terms of an RPG one. Just a lot of players on a server at once.

I see something like a cross of APB and Planetside 2, almost. Massive crew battles across the map, with the other, "neutral" people running around in the middle of it. I almost wish it could be a separate game.

Maybe on PC.

I'm so curious what it turns out to be. Just because they name it GTA Online tells me its bigger then your regular multiplayer modes. Also the teaser we saw of it in the gameplay trailer hinted at one overall online gameworld instead of just choosing which mode you want to play. But hey, I guess we will see it tomorrow tounge.gif

I honestly completely skipped this topic and I only searched for GTA online save, guess I should have typed in MMO, anyway.. again..

I've had this happen before investing in playstation plus, where i have 100% saves and playstation takes a crap and I have to get a new one, only no save for my online character, oh I guess it would help to mention that this was with my RDR save file..

If our save is not on their server, say for instance we have our online save in our PS plus account and we load our psn on the ps4 for the next installment of gta online, could we possibly keep all we worked for.. this is speaking in terms of an MMO perspective.. ph34r.gif

Well, if you don't know, I think the best course of action would be to tread lightly.

To me GTA Online just say's it will be GTA.... Online. Everything in single player mode will be available online as well. Mini games, customization of characters and cars, that type of sh*t. I doubt it will have a lot of people, if ya count the people at the end of the gameplay trailer it was pretty close to the same number of people allowed in a game in IV, if not exact. Can't remember exactly now. But yeah, I don't expect it to have 32 players or anything like that.

That said, I could be wrong. Guess we will find out for sure in... oh sh*t, an hour and a half. biggrin.gif

Yes, it is an MMOG. It is not many players like an MMORPG fan has come to expect, but that is not a requirement to be an MMO.

Persistent Economy is confirmed (9 minutes mark of this video:

)

Social Club Crews are glorified guilds.

CoD is an MMOFPS. By the very definition of MMOG, it, and GTA Online for example, are MMOG's. Just different genres and though you won't see 100s of people in the same exact matches, you will be connected globally to all players at all times, even when offline, so yep, it is an MMO.

If you want clear, consice, and full explanations of why these statements are true, read MY posts in this thread which prove it beyond the shadow of doubt, unequivocally icon14.gif

It'll be an MMO just as much as almost any other MP game out there at the moment AKA It'll be not, at least on consoles.

Grand Theft Auto Online is a dynamic and persistent online world for 16 players that begins by sharing gameplay features, geography and mechanics with Grand Theft Auto V, but will continue to expand and evolve after its launch with new content created by Rockstar Games and the Grand Theft Auto community. Grand Theft Auto Online takes the fundamental Grand Theft Auto concepts of freedom, ambient activity and mission-based gameplay and makes them available to multiple players in an incredibly detailed and responsive online world.

In Grand Theft Auto Online, players have the freedom to explore alone or with friends, work cooperatively to complete missions, band together to participate in activities and ambient events, or compete in traditional game modes with the entire community, all with the personality and refined mechanics of Grand Theft Auto V.

Players can invest in their character through customizing their appearance, improving their stats, owning customized vehicles, purchasing personal property, and taking part in missions, jobs and activities to earn reputation and cash to open up new opportunities to rise through the criminal ranks. The world of Grand Theft Auto Online will constantly grow and change as new content is added, creating the first ever persistent and dynamic Grand Theft Auto game world.

Access to Grand Theft Auto Online is free with every retail copy of Grand Theft Auto V and launches on October 1st.
