OK...here is my guess:I think they name it that way because it's a whole grand theft auto universe .

And you can play betwen players from gta iv and EFLC .I don'know but that' what the name sugest.

Think about it they even showed niko on the collectors edition......But maybe i'm all wrong

it doesnt take a genius to work it out. They want to separate SP from MP, and market them specifically.

My guess is that GTAO will be much more in depth than any other R* MP game mode.

The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing.

Marketing, they don't want people to think of GTA4s Multiplayer with it. They're rebranding of what already exists but also promising to revolutionise it swell

No Clue... I mean they dont even put the '' V '' Logo in it... and they put it everywhere else... artworks, screenshots, merchandise, adverts

Some people who dosent check out the news regulary, might think its a standalone game... like elder scrolls online.

 

Why are they seperate it from V on purpose? (talking only about logo)

No no! Think here! He's talking about how it's a world where players can buy houses and cars. Clothes and maybe stocks and what not. I think that would be awesome!

They probably called it GTA Online as they want to make it clear that they are making the point of seperating GTA V to GTA V's multiplayer. Hence GTA Online.

R* has been known as making great SP games, but not as good at MP. I think they want to make a statement that this is something new, something big. They know many people only want to play online nowadays and they have to improve alot in that department if they want those CoD, BF and sports fans who only play online to buy their game. A marketing strategy to separete from their bad MP reputation.

 

I think GTA Online will be much more like the SP where you will have hundreds of mini games and activities where you can earn money to buy guns and cars, maybe even property. Hopefully with more than 16 players too.

 

They have had alot of time working on this part and it should have been something to make a priority if they want to reach those people who didn't buy GTA IV.

After thinking about this like a bad scar on my face, I've come to think along the lines of an MMO, the title alone explains it all, "GTA Online" one could be led to think this section of GTA will go beyond GTAV and into the next titles if not come on a stand alone disc separate from all future GTA titles, Also I feel that the title is a shout to pure "GTA" fans to let you know that they're attempting to incorporate everything we love about GTA as a whole, Property, Currency, Customization, Vehicles, and of course Weapons. With that I'm going to give my final two cents on what the game will be made of...

 

1. I feel that as soon as we log into the world, thats it, no separation or lobbies separate from the world.

2. Mini games, activities, death match, and so forth will deal with crews and icons

3. the lobby for rivaling crews and or inviting friends into your server will be utilized through the cell phone.

4. We will be given opportunities to purchase properties as safe houses, the more currency you have, the more elaborate your safe house

5. heist modes with your buddies will definitely replace gang hideouts in RDR

6. open mic's within 100yards (game yards) to speak friendly or not

7. open season on death, with that I believe anyone and anything can be killed, including players

8. fully customized vehicles for your own personal identity in game, this can i assume include clothes as well

9. I believe the leveling will allow access to new playable characters and i cant think what else

10. GOLD GUNS.. my soul purpose once I turn the game on.

I hate it so much when I accidentally start it. The whole thing is just endless loading screens. But I'm sure GTA Online will turn out great. I see it as they will drop all the different modes and just have an XXL version of free roam in which you can do all kinds of activities.

Now THAT'S plausible. I didn't even think of that. If not, it's probably a marketing ploy like everyone else said. It would be pretty damn sweet to see a crew of PS3 fanboys go up against a crew of 360 fanboys. I wonder who would win that one confused.gif

It might be because of all the out-of-game 'online' functionality. You've got the Social Club, Lifeinvader and crews, plus whatever else they throw in there.

It adds so much mof marketing value when you say 'now there is a global premiere of Grand Theft Auto ONLINE' rather then 'now lets see the Grand Theft Auto Multiplayer'.. I think the ONLINE concept is more about a new part of the game, but when you read 'multiplayer' it looks more about something the Rockstar added in the last hour just to say they have it
