What exactly is "GTA Online"?

My guess is that GTAonline is simply GtV5 multiplayer, Metal Gear Solid 4 had a mp component called Metal Gear Online.

But we'll hopefully see in a few days time.

i think that multiplayer will be in fps and there will be zombie mode and kill streaks , it will be revolutionary.

Something like APB would be sick. Not the microtransactions and all that, but the general gameplay. Intead of cops v criminals, it should be separate factions, or in this case, the crews. There'd be missions popping up in the open world, such as "street race in southern los santos", you go there and race every other crew, winner gets money. Or perhaps "truck full of stolen goods at the factory district", where every crew is fighting eachother for the truck. Combine that with custom cars with decals, and there's an amazing MP experience right there. The map design needs to be good as well, APB's was good as where the objectives were placed, the map was modelled designed for combat, so there were ladders, high points, alleyways, things like that, instead of fighting in an empty street.

I just don't understand you and your decals. It's the most minor thing within customization. All you do is add frickin stripes which most of them look disgusting anyway. I don't think this would discredit customization if it was in, as a matter of fact, no one would even know about it. I mean sure if it's in, then that's good, there are people that would use it, but it's not going to affect it.

Minor? I beg to differ. Have you ever played a game with decals? It's not "a few stripes", it's detailed drawings and artwork on a vehicle. Of course, not everyone has the patience to make detailed drawings, which is why you jump to the conclusion of "stripes". It's much more than that. Decals are what make the vehicles truly unique. We're not talking preset paintjobs here, like San Andreas or Saints Row, we're talking a proper decal editor, like Midnight Club Los Angeles.

I'm assuming its going to be almost like an MMORPG. Large servers allowing many parties to play at once, maybe one group of friends will be doing a race type game while others simply want to free roam? Just my opinion, but I'm overly excited for GTAV trolling if this is the case

I feel like it's gonna be a MMORPG in the preview at the end the guy was in a house so maybe you can buy property and stuff. I hope its awesome what if there was like 3 servers and anyone could join at sa time so there was like 2k players in 1 server kinda like WOW or Runescaper or something

I'm going to say the Economy in MP will be just as extensive as SP.

 

Car buying, house buying, maybe gambling etc. etc.

This can't be the usual "kill everyone you can on the map" crap - that bores the hell out of me! This must be something new and amazing. Maybe it involves doing major co-op heists - who knows.

Part of exactly what I've been thinking. I'm sure there will be the typical deathmatches, head to head races, and probably some sort of turf war(I'm really hoping for another type of Mafiya Work!), but they've said from the get go that GTA Online will be revolutionary, and I think the name says it all. It is GTA Online, to me that means that there will be some major co-op options, or even different head to head options like online missions or storyline. The economy is such a huge thing in single player, why should it be different online? In the quick view we got from the first gameplay video, we see the player in the apartment with a decent amount of cash. I really believe this dollar amount means much more than it did in IV. Of course, speculating like everyone else, but I truly believe R* is going to blow our f*cking minds with this game.
