Garganda
Hey guys, I just have a quick question I wanted to ask In September I am moving away and going off to school. Luckily my dorm room has a television which is awesome so I will be able to play the game come Sept 17. The thing I am wondering about is that the TV is very small (It is one of those old ones that is basically a big grey box and the screen is a square). How will the game look on this TV? It is SD (Standard definition) and like I have said before, is a small box (not a rectangle like most screens are today). Let me know if any of you play on TV's like this, maybe I am just over thinking it. Maybe some of you are in the same predicament? Basically just wondering if the game is going to look sh*tty on one of these or not EDIT: I have found out that I am allowed to bring my own TV to the dorm. I currently have a 19" Samsung HDTV in my room and i plan on bringing it. Will 19" be enough to make this game look great? Or is it worth upgrading to something a tiny bit bigger? Grand Theft Savage
It shouldn't look 'sh*tty'... But, in my experience, the game picture can be too large for the TV to handle and you won't be able to see everything. And the words will be small. Everything might be kinda squished right? Kinda sucks that my first playthrough of GTA V will be on a poor quality TV, but It's better than nothing I suppose
AuSsIeThUnDeR36
I have a small old tv like the one you describe and for San Andreas it's perfect. Tried playing IV on it but the mini map was so small navigation was near impossible same applied for shooting the aiming was tricky on the small screen
SuperUmlungu
I wouldn't play it, bro. Wait until you have access to HD screen. This is GTA V, man! You gotta enjoy all the pixels you possibly can!
Elyobo893
I'm in the same predicament, my friend. Sure it'll be grand. I played RDR on an 18 inch SD TV and I'm still alive. Be grand, be grand.
NYC PATROL
If you have some extra cash there are small monitors which go for less than $200. But playing on a small sdtv won't be the end of the world. Depending on how old the TV is it just won't be as clear and may be fuzzy. HUD might be squished a bit. Cutter De Blanc
I played RDR for awhile on a SD TV and I couldn't see jack sh*t at night, or anywhere around Thieves' Landing.
Don Sal Leone
I remember playing GTA IV when it was first released on my old 32" 4:3 SD TV. It was a nightmare for me, I couldn't even read the text messages sent to Nikos phone. But if your have a PC CRT Monitor those can deliver sine good quality if you use the right cables, is HDMI to VGA/dvi. With the standard cables its hard to tell how the game will perform. I'd say when your at school ask the IT dept if they have any old monitors or any old CRT PC monitors that have a high resolution that they don't mind lending you. You never know! Guest
Yeah it'll look awful. Some games have the HUD bigger on an SDTV so you can't see anything in the actual game. It'd be offensive to GTA5 if you played it on an old SDTV
or1
if it's PAL 720x576 and not bigger than 29" it's ok 576p it's called CRT In any case play on 29 "720x576 is the same as paly on 43" 1280x720 27" flat PAL CRT(720x576) = 40" 720HD (1280x720) I got 29" PAL(720X576) flat TV and the games looks very good Edited August 12, 2013 by GTA564

LotusRIP
Get a new TV, god damnit. I thought I lived in poverty and my $400 Sony Bravia TV was cheap as chips while I was unemployed even!
MintBerryCrunch
I've got 2 displays. One is a 27 inch 1080 monitor and the other is a 36 inch SD TV. The XBox can't kick out more than 720p anyway so the image looks slightly pixelated on the 1080 monitor. So I'm thinking of going with the larger SD TV for GTAV simply because of the size of the screen and the room it's sitting in is a lot comfier too. GTA 360
I just upgraded my 19 inch to a 32 inch a couple of days ago, because the words are too small to read on a small screen.

DJ Arrt
Well, I'm gonna play on my SD TV in my room, and I have the trailers on my xbox, and they look FANTASTIC. My only gripe is that when I watched the gamplay trailer, the HUD was off the screen a little bit, but so was RDR's. I figure their either gonna fix it, or I'm gonna play with the HUD off for once. It's not the end of the world though. GTA V is GTA V. And I wish I could afford a new TV
SaintsRow3
I find it hard to go back from HD to SD on my Xbox, but that is just me. It will surely look okay.
