Kamii786
I think marketing this way is better, this way everyone is kept hyped up where as with loads of trailers the hype will just go down imo.
Savagemessiah
Well it might not feel good to you and me, but Rockstar are smart. They let the fans do the marketing for them, no need for spending alot of money when the fans won't do anything but talk about GTA all the time, everywhere. Take a loo around, in almost every vider related to games on Youtube there's a comment about GTA V, In almost every comment on other games facebook status there's a comment abut Gta V. It's everywhere. If no one cared in the beginning then everything would probably be different since they would need to advertise more. But since all it takes is a few screenshots and a trailer to make everyone talk about GTA V for months. Personally I don't like this kind of marketing, but it does work. Hope you're getting my point, sorry if my English suck.
FranklinDeRoosevelt
but I personally believe that the marketing on this game is very poor. Everyone and there mother wants to buy the game and goes crazy when a little bit of info is reveled. I'd call that successful marketing. The game markets itself, not Rockstar. Well there you f*cking go. All the haters are retarded f*cks who don't know anything about marketing and hype. If the game sells by it's self recognition, why would a business, a smart one like R* for instance waste money on mainstream advertising? Use your heads. Pre-order sales much? Trailer views much? Marketing is clearly good AND working.
IAMSHUGO
Any time anything new comes out about the game, the internet explodes. Rockstar's doing just fine.

voltaire
Didn't rockstar get a new head in the marketing department a few months ago? Maybe they are shifting their strategies to a word of mouth style? R* has a head of marketing? He's probably the guy who holds the ladder when they're painting "box art" on the side of buildings. A video of Lady Gaga taking a dump gets the Youtube views GTAV's gameplay video got, that doesn't equate to game sales. If R*'s marketing is so great why isn't GTAV breaking any pre-order records? Probably has something to do with them thinking that marketing a product to a mainstream audience is a stupid idea, right?
wwinterj
If R*'s marketing is so great why isn't GTAV breaking any pre-order records? It isn't? Seems to be the top pre order on most sites.
