kipakolonyasi 330
if not in other areas/aspects, it was definitely better than VC in terms of mission variety. we did all kinds of sh*t in VCS. it's like GTA V in that aspect in my opinion. not a monotone game, all kinds of missions from stealth to full on explosive action
donnits 4,322
Both are great, but if i had to choose, i'd go with VCS. VC has the better 'Miami in the '80s' story, but i prefer VCS's story as a whole. Vic was more interesting as a character to me, too. I especially love his quotes in the last mission.
Gummy 3,531
Vice City Stories had better characters, a bit better character development and better relationship among them.
MrVance 497
@princegumball, my point exactly, characters were so great and fun in this game that they had no match. I cant remember any other game that i could possible like bad guys like Martinez and Mendez even they are complete idiots but they are still so fun you just can`t hate them. Even Marty J Williams with all of his attitude towards Louise and stereotipical redneck character is pretty funny to me. Not to mention Umberto Robina, he is more funny and interesting in VCS than VC. In VCS he is muscular and funny as hell. ((Umberto-did somebody order a stripper? Vic- excuse me? Umberto- because i like my bitches a bit less balding) ..I almost died from laughing when i saw that 1.st time.)) while in VC he is too fat. And Lance is fun factor No.1 in this game while in VC he is more calm and more quiet. And i find Phill Cassidy`s voice in VCS better. Altough he is voiced by Gary Busey in both games i find his voice in VC somewhat strange. Not to mention Phil Colins. However to be fair i must say that storyline (plot) was better in VC not to mention Ray Liotta but characters were better in VCS. IMO at least, everyone`s tastes are different of course. Anyway i will never understand how could such a great game be so underrated among some fans. I thing it`s all about low selling copies. When they see that game`s selling isn`t such a boom they simply don`t go and buy it because they think it`s a bad game. But for me, i never check how one game was sold, it`s not important to me, i go and purchase it and than decide whether is good or not. And here in my country VCS was huge hit among fans , when it first came to EU it was sold out in a week.

TheFunkyBunch 57
Kind Of vic was less of a c*nt than tommy (though he still annoyed me at times like when he bullies Lance 24/7) The Story is Slightly better vice city was just To Generic For me vice city Stories seemed like a beta test For IV Storyline was and while not That Great i still found it More Interesting than that of Vice City. Overall i think the Original has more charm and Verve and A Slightly better Soundtrack but VCS Has a better Story And improved gameplay so im Kinda Torn i think if i had to pick one i would Just About go With the Original. Flesh-n-Bone 633
I would say so myself too. I like VC but VCS pretty much perfected it to me. A lot of roads were added and improved like the bridge leading you directly to Fort Baxter and the unnecessary waste of space around the airport from VC being used as a quick road to the airport terminal. (right by the trailer park area) I prefer VCS' soundtrack too. Overall, in gameplay I would go with VCS. VC has the better story but otherwise, I'd choose VCS in just about everything else. Specially the atmosphere which was the 80s done perfectly to me. VC was too cartoony but VCS improved on that and the graphics look better which along with some cool additions like the wavy water when it's raining and the orange sky plus all the neon lights on buildings makes it a better experience to me.
gluserty 66
I think VCS does a lot right, especially in regards to the graphics ( the neon that just rules to me, the orange sky, less box-y characters). If one includes only the Civil Asset Forfiture, Empire building, and the main missions, I feel the game is longer than Vice City as well (factoring in that the missions are usually more complex). lastmanonearth 1,135
Story-wise it`s lacking but gameplay-wise it`s better because of the empire building feature. Also the music wasn`t bad but I preferred the VC music.
ViceCityMafiaBoss 5
Story Wise- No Gameplay Wise- Yes Atmosphere Wise- Tie Radio Station Wise- Yes Protagonist Wise- Yes Colorful Wise- No I think when it comes to the setting, and clothing VC did alot better than VCS. i agree
Vercetti27 491
VCS was the first of the two vice city games I ever played, so with that in mind, I have to say VCS. It has beter vehicles (jetski, Polaris V8, Hovercraft) A swell as side missions, the red balloons, jet ski races, sea rescue, air tours (the best gta side mission ever) and golf (yeah that one is lame as f*ck but at least leaf links now has a use) oh and the m249 gun is f*cking boss. only problem is the utterly sh*t gang building mechanics which require you to do the most dull missions and survive wave upon wave of gangfire. oh and "high wire" is a f*cking pisstake. not particularly hard but it can wind you right up if you miss that last car. oh and the soundtrack is killer. vice city cannot compete with that.
PhillBellic 24,564
For me, the Soundtrack Beats Out Vice City. I just don't know what it is, but I liked it better than VC.

Rollin69 4
I agree 100%. VCS was waaaaaaaayyyyyyyyy better. The story, the atmosphere, and especially the protagonist. Vic is way better than Tommy. Tommy was a asshole who didn't care about no one. I hated when he was always getting angry and being a asshole to Ken. Worst protagonist ever, and that is a fact too. Anyone who likes that asshole Tommy is retarded. I mean it too. Vic was a great character who cared about his friends and family, unlike Tommy.
Coleman627 12
Gameplay yes Storyline almost Characters yes Protagonist absolutely not Graphics yes Controls yes Missions nope Overall yes But the storyline in the original is much better and Tommy is a much better protagonist than Vic "I never want to touch drugs again" Vance. How would you rate the Soundtrack?Damn. I completely forgot about the soundtrack. I definitely think the soundtrack in this game is better than VC. Don't get me wrong now. VC had a great soundtrack. But the problem is that the soundtrack wasn't cohesive. There are only a few songs released in the year the game is set in. VCS on the other hand had a lot of songs released in the year it is set in. Only thing they were missing was Prince, Madonna, and Michael Jackson.
gooeyhole 3,848
Vice City Stories is better, yet Vice City has that thing...that, magic. I prefer Ray Liotta over whoever played Vic. However, Vice City Stories' story is more interesting to me, emotional. Or tries to be. The gameplay is better, I prefer the selection of vehicles... The radio's nearly equal but I give the edge to Vice City. In my opinion, they're equal...but a slight edge for VCS.
Nico 3,782
I must recognize I haven't played VCS a lot, in fact I haven't touched it in several years. Overall I prefer VC story, but VCS is sightly superior in some technical aspects. Plus the latter has the best melee combat system of the whole series. Like Pulp said, all those empire buildings make the city ugly and (even more) repetitive. Is hard to believe that every single building owned by the same guy got demolished during the year between both games.
Jerome 1,897
VCS sure is more advanced than VC, but I still have more fondness of VC, it's the first GTA I played.
roadrage19 70
VCS is better than the original at everything, except protagonist wise. When it comes to personality, Tommy is a much better protagonist. He had equilibrium and never had a moment where he was hypocritical, unlike Vic.
