IMO unless he has some cool special abilities we don't know about yet I think he would just be annoying to have around with me.

I don't think you'll actually need to take care of him, he's just gonna follow you.

I'll probably start off by taking him with me & looking after him a bit, but after a while it may feel like a chore.

It will depend on what benefits he brings to the game, but if I steal a car & have to wait 30 seconds for him to find the open door & get in, then I'll probably just leave him behind.

Overall, I like the idea so I'll look after him. For those who like to roleplay a bit in the game, I think Chop will add to the immersion walking him around and taking care of him a bit. I will admit I really wanna see him maul somebody when they try to jump Franklin.

I look forward to having Chop follow me around but I hope it doesn't become a hassle. I remember having Dog Meat and Rex in Fallout 3 and New Vegas and anytime sh*t went down I had to be a bodyguard for the dog to keep it alive.

Has it even been confirmed that we can take him around with us during free roam? Honestly. I didn't see any dogs in any of the trailers other than the first official trailer at the beginning on the sunny beach (might have been Chop) - plus it looked like a cut scene.

 

I think Chop simply serves as a character in cut scenes.. that's just me, though.

In the gameplay trailer chop is following behind franklin, its not a cut scene either because you can see the hud, I think in one of the previews they said chop appears as a bone on the minimap.

I don't know, I'd need to see how useful Chop is during gameplay before I decide whether or not I want him with me all the time.

 

Skyrim was a classic example of how animal companions can screw up your surprise attacks or any other plans you might have by chasing and attacking enemies at random. I eventually got sick of the horse and ended up exploring the world alone cos he'd mess up everything and then just disappear.

 

My only hope is Chop is more of asset than a liability during combat, etc. If that's the case then yeah, I'll love him and take care of him. If not, he's staying home!

I'd take him out when I feel like free roaming the dog, only if his ability is to sick and kill people of my choice. Otherwise if he's just luggage I'll leave him at home.

This. I have a Rottweiler for real and take him places sometimes so its gonna be pretty cool for me to have one tagging along in the game.
