Tashan
It's good opportunity to sum up certain similarities that R* never changed till date & additions that became so popular among fans that saw significant improvements. But it can be different for many players who still waiting for changes in V or to experience & still hopeful for surprise later. The whole purpose? Well we are certainly not accepting V as the ultimate GTA and since R* has surprisingly open up much details about V it becomes even more important to take these for discussing whats still the same? why its so hard to change? and whats still left to see in future GTA? Let me begin this with changes and not enough changes over time followed by latest offering from R* FROM GTA2 TO 3 - Upgrade to graphics, map, city, car design, game variety, more cars, experiencing ODD JOBS & first time races in the game with swimming, unique enemies & NPC's, cops, etc. plus main character playable in 3rd person view. Introduction to new camera viewing angles, Good character animations & model design. Be it LC, VC OR SA. WHATS SAME? - Dull story, sh*t AI, almost similar mission variety cum design formula, game world, locked areas at start & easy money with arcadey driving GTA3 TO GTA4 - Upgrade to game engine (obviously best graphics over 3), map (but degrade in size & open areas), city (but no countryside), car design, driving, looks & even more cars, ODD JOBS significantly hit for worse, game variety (but cut short on lot of fun parts of SA + VC), Better character animations & realistic touch in model design, episodic contents, camera viewing angles & effects. WHATS SAME? - Crap story, Less sh*ty AI, not much interesting NPC's or enemy, passable mission variety cum design structure, much more easy money & boredom Introducing for the first time (in GTA 5) Based on before release but confirmed data. - 3 MAIN CHARACTERS - FOCUS ON ONE CITY FROM SA & NEW BEGINNING OF SERIES - UNDERWATER GTA - BULLET TIME - NPC's SIGNIFICANTLY UPGRADED & whats still left for future? Bobbyleez
I heard realistic steak made it to V. But in all seriousness, I am eager to see how this game will turn out.
Tashan
I heard realistic steak made it to V. But in all seriousness, I am eager to see how this game will turn out. It's not confirmed. But, I missed Theme park. Its still too early to say about that. What i am waiting for eagerly is info upon export-import of cars. This can be extended for odd jobs by adding money tasks of shipping oceanic stuff, emeralds, fishes, animal skins and hunting as seen in FC3. Again, with borders not connected to any cities the idea is least expected to turn out in V instead for future.
CryptReaperDorian
For starters, sound design always has room for improvement in the GTA series.

Tashan
"Dull story""Crap story" : / huh..? very likely many disagree but never ever gta story made an impact. It was fine in humour, gags with funky lines & attitude that makes us feel good. I don't need even wish any miracles to spark in STORY department since the former are perfect for playing the game within GTA mood

Guest
It's annoying when people say "GTA4 had nothing to do, it's boring!". SA had a bunch of activities but let's be honest they weren't interesting at all. Trucking? A few people may have found that fun, but trucks are too slow. Delivering custom cars from one place to another would have been more exciting. Then there's turf wars which were intrusive and repetitive. TLAD improved gang warfare. I don't imagine anyone doing nightclubbing or lowrider challenges more than once. The races were too easy and had no challenge at all. 8-track was slightly better than the other races but still too easy. Bloodring was a nice challenge, though. Cop, firetruck and paramedic missions, I don't see the appeal in these, but some people like them I guess. I can't think of any more sidemissions apart from the vehicle schools. I liked driving school, that was nice to have and gave you a Hotknife and a Bullet GT outside the building, conveniently next to the Doherty apartment so I do that on every playthrough. GTA4 had less activities but I think they were more interesting than SA's. Bowling, darts and pool were actually quite decent, I preferred them to trucking, paramedic and vigilante myself. I'm not much of a challenge or sidemission person myself, though. I think multiplayer keeps the game alive much longer than singleplayer does. Kevstyle
IV had random strangers or old friends (person icon) that you could do side missions for and this comes back to V. Also we got some sound scores now in missions aka Dynamic music that changes when you do missions (Special mission made music).
