Michael moved to the east cost and moved back evidently by the line "why did i move here? I guess it was the weather." But in trevors trailer, trevor picks him up and says " back in town baby". This means Michael is from los santos or blaine county and moved to the east when things got bad and then moved back. So in reality he is just returning home. That's where his life of crime took place, and his life of crime includes Trevor, as they were partners... If I can find a link to the statement of Michael being from the east coast, I will post it. He moved here because he wanted to quit the life of crime, only for it to get worse after a while. He is either from Liberty City, or a place we don't even know. My opinion. The way he describes how he wanted the things you see in the movies and to be like all the other dads and play ball with his son, etc. makes it sound like he's never lived there before. It's possible that since he and Trevor are best friends, that he's visited Trevor out in San Andreas, Los Santos in the past - it wouldn't' be surprising if they have some sort of extended criminal association with each other. Trevor seems to be a character who is more "settled" into Los Santos, so the above theory would also make sense. Micheal, on the other hand gives off the vibe that he just recently moved there and is trying to get his family accustomed to west coast lifestyle - indicating that they've never lived (not visited) there before. This means he was born, raised and lived somewhere else beforehand, other wise it would be "why did I move BACK here?" The fact Trevor said something along the lines of "back in town I see" (or thereabouts) probably means he had been to LS before, you know, to visit Trevor or to do some work for a few weeks, but not on a permanent basis. Michael likely says that because he likely moved their after the FIB cut a deal with him. Trevor must have worked with him before back in Michael's days of commiting bank robberies.
