StraightOuttaGroveStreet
Hate to be a buzzkill Sony faithful, but many PS3 GAMES don't run higher than 720p. Even with HDMI and your favorite HDTV. Seeing as how I have one. Explaining (to me anyway) why no GTA V trailer is higher than 720p. I don't recall any Xbox 360 games ever doing that. Including GTA IV. Xbox does the up scaling for you while PS3 you got to set if you want it on or off. Its off on default.

FutoDriver
This is why I laugh at people buying massive 1080P TV's for a console that can't even truly display it! the fools wasting money! When me and my friend put our consoles together to play Red Dead Redemption, For the life of him he couldn't figure out why it looked so much better on a 22" 720P monitor we were using for the second console compared to his normal 60" 1080P setup. Ash_735
I don't think the PS3 and Xbox 360 support native 1080p. Some games are upscaled to 1080i or 1080p, but it's not the "real deal". They do support it, but list is small, mainly digital titles, or games like rayman and wipeout, etc Edit: futo, you just made yourself look like an idiot, ill explain in great detail when I get back latr why your comment is wrong. TheGodDamnMaster
When I'm gaming on consoles, I go for 720p because there are only a few games that have a native 1080p resolution. If you activate it for most other games, it looks pretty bad. Because upscaling from 720p to 1080p sucks: ginning and quality loss. On the contrary, you're fine: signal resolution: 720p monitor resolution: 720p

Ash_735
OK, back, FutoDriver, now to explain the reason why in your case, it would be more down to the PPI, even if you have the same specs and resolution, a smaller monitor will always produce a crisper image due to the PPI being in favor, just work it out, it's simple math: 1920x1080/22 = 94,255ppi 1920x1080/60 = 34,560ppi That's why mobile phones these days are always pushing larger resolution so they can boats about the ppi count of their screens, etc. And the reality is, that will always be the case, but it shouldn't be noticeable to people unless they have them both side by side, only then will your brain, essentially, notice the difference. As for native resolution, I really haven't seen a 1280x720 screen around for like, nearing a decade now, most HDTV's were actually 1366x768, which means, even if you are feeding 720p, it's still being stretched and upscaled no matter what. So I don't know what monitor you had, but i find it quite rare if your 22inch monitor was an actual native 1280x720, it most likely would have 1366x768 or 1280x768, or possible, like most are these days, 1920x1080 for 16:9 or 1920x1200 for 16:10. As for your comment about laughing at people buying large TV's, why? I don't know where you are, but here in Europe at least our HDTV broadcasts are [email protected], whilst of course we have Blu-ray, which is [email protected], of course the next gen consoles are native 1080p, upscalers these days are actually very good, especially if you go down the Sony or Panasonic line and of course, you can always hook up your computer to it, there's MORE reasons to buy 1080p HDTV's than there is against, that whole middle era of HDTV's was down to production costs, that's why we had screens like 1280x768 and 1366x768, they were never true 16:9 but they were cheap to produce in mass for years before 1920x1080 panels came down in price. If you know your monitor details, feel free to post the model number so we can check this out.

Geeteeaifive
Barely any console games on PS3 or 360 run at 1080p. Hell, a lot don't run at 720p. The hardware simply isn't good enough. Because of the size of the game it'll also probably not run at 720p on current gen consoles. Next gen versions will likely run at 1080p (if it's ever ported) and a PC version would run at what ever the user sets it at. Lol, i'll run it at 4k rez on pc like a boss. It will be like 10 fps, but hey, in your face console losers

Rex Saddler
Jesus Christ... AGAIN. Most current gen consoles games DO NOT pass 720p and some are even lower. And with GTA V you can forget 1080p because of the scale. XBox360 has a 720p limit while PS3 has a 1080p limit but, yes, because of the scale, there won't be 1080p
V_GTA_V
Acutally GTA IV run 720p on X360, and sadly only 640p on ps3. Hopefully this time R* make some tweak for ps3 and booth run at 720p.
Ash_735
To the two above: Xbox 360 doesn't have a 720p limit, it can do 1080p as well, many XBLA games are 1080p as well as some small amount of retail games. Time and time again, GTA IV was a shoddy port on PS3 and PC, look at the latest Rockstar Game, Max Payne 3, using the newer RAGE engine that GTA V is using, it's been optimized out of the ass, MP3 ran at 720p on both and handled framerates much better than GTA IV ever could, and the PC version was amazing!
