rob27
so it seems like all of the trailers and screens have been in 720p. Do u guys think this is bc thats the highest resolution the game has? I guess it would make sense given how large gta 5 is but i am still wondering.
Jason
Barely any console games on PS3 or 360 run at 1080p. Hell, a lot don't run at 720p. The hardware simply isn't good enough. Because of the size of the game it'll also probably not run at 720p on current gen consoles. Next gen versions will likely run at 1080p (if it's ever ported) and a PC version would run at what ever the user sets it at.

max_rally
Jesus Christ... AGAIN. Most current gen consoles games DO NOT pass 720p and some are even lower. And with GTA V you can forget 1080p because of the scale.

I'm mistaken with what the console versions of IV ran at, I thought both the PS3 and 360 version ran at 640p hence my comment. However the 360 version ran at 720p, so it's reasonable to think that both may run at 720p this time around.
NYC PATROL
If it means anything, Max Payne 3 ran at 720P on the PS3. I think it's safe to bet GTA V on PS3 will run at 720P. They optimized RAGE fairly well over the last few years. And same goes for Xbox. Will most likely run at 720 like it has been. Which means the game wasn't meant to be played at 1080. The list of native 1080 games on the ps3 is lower than 15...

CryptReaperDorian
I don't think the PS3 and Xbox 360 support native 1080p. Some games are upscaled to 1080i or 1080p, but it's not the "real deal".

Not really for Infamous, because f*ck that game, but just in general. I use computer monitors for TVs, and they don't smooth sh*t out like TVs do for upscaled images not run in the native resolutions, and there aren't any settings to lower the monitor's internal resolution like a TV has. So I keep hearing about how beautiful Red Dead is, but I load mine up and it looks like

Loves GTA
Neither version will be 1080p. That simply isn't possible. Game will be 720p on PS3, given the fact the footage we've seen is from PS3 and it's 720p. I'm sure Xbox will be the same.

RandyChimp
You know, I have to say, I don't post much, but I read stuff here a lot and the amount of topics about pointless queries is astounding. When I buy GTA 5, I won't be taking the disc out of the box, thinking to myself "I hope it runs in 1080p" or "I hope the city is just slightly bigger than LC, not so much bigger that it's noticeable, but just so I'm aware after spending some time measuring distance in both locations." I'll be thinking "I wonder what the first mission is" and "I can't wait to just drive. Just drive anywhere and explore." Who cares if it runs at 1080 or 720 or lower (btw, I like that people think it's worthy to note that a game is lower than 720 when it's 1280x704. Seriously, it's a difference of 16 horizontal lines, a game at that resolution is still playable). Who are these people who play a game at a certain resolution or play a game on a console and sit there thinking "well this is is clearly inferior and sub-par visually speaking!" The only games that were 640p were: GTA IV Midnight Club RDR What they had all in common was that they were ports.
