Why is it called GTA V

GTA 1-4 have been located in Liberty City. 5 SHOULD have been named something else.

BUT, Rockstar figured that making it a main series game would increase the sales rather than call it San Andreas 2. That and it does seem to be the definitive GTA experience.

Its called GTA V because R* wanted it to be called GTA V.

Such an amazing discovery that was said by nobody, ever.

The original GTA took place in Liberty City, Vice City, and the city of San Andreas (now known as "San Fierro").

GTA 2 takes place in Anywhere, U.S.A.

No. It SHOULDN'T be called something else. You do know there is no rule about what it has to be called right? Just because I & Iv were set in LC, means V has to be called something else? Why? Please explain your logic more clearly?

Lock n' Stock

Each numbered GTA represents a huge leap of the series in terms of gameplay, features and overall technology, not where it's set. GTA 2 wasn't in Liberty City either, it was in Anywhere City.

Correct me if I'm wrong but don't they use numbers if its a revolution in the series?

It could also be that GTA V sounds better and also will get more people to buy it if it had a different name.

Well, I think they said that after the "trilogy" on PS2 they wouldn't be doing named ones again (excluding DLC) only numbers.

GTA II was NOT in Liberty City.

It was a futuristic setting in some unnamed place.

Thank f*ck for people that pay attention! You sir, earn it. cookie.gif

Thats true, but still, where was that amazing lrap between GTA 1 and 2? Only difference is that GTA 2 takes place in the future with slightly better graphics. Otherwise they were quite alike.

GTA 3 - First 3d GTA

GTA 4 - First HD GTA

GTA 5 - First GTA with biggest map ever, with most opportunities etc...

Because it's the start of a new era.

But it isn't part of a new era. It's the same era/universe/whatever that started with GTA:IV.

Rockstar just call their GTAs whatever the hell they want. There are no rules and even if there were rules, Rockstar can break them.
