Enterprise
So I'm planning on getting a next gen console anyway and the only thing that would keep me from selling my current gen console will / would be GTA V (and probably FIFA 14 ). So if a next gen version of GTA V would be announced / come out i would probably sell my current gen console and my games right away since most of the games I'm interested in (Watch Dogs, FIFA 14, AC4: Black Flag etc.) will be available on PS4/Xbox One, too. My question to you guys is: Would you do the same and if not, why not? (don't mean to sound like a 'rich prick' which I'm not anyways )

kj2022
Nope, I'd wait a year for Microsoft and Sony to fix any bugs, which there inevitably will be, and then I'd pick it up the same time I pick a console up. Probably 12 to 18 months after the console launch.
acmilano
I have bunch of old PS1/2 games on my PS3 HD and a lot of good games of this generation. Got some good games on X 360 too so i try to keep them. From the other hand, who knows what life could bring, maybe i would need to change country,in which case extra baggage have to be dropped. d3ex2
My launch PS3 died a few months back. I went and bought a brand new slim PS3 despite knowing that the PS4 was just around the corner. If it weren't for The Last of Us and GTA V I would have just held off until PS4. Every game I want to play is coming out on PS4 except GTA V. So yeah if GTA V was coming out on PS4 I'd get rid of my PS3 and just wait for PS4. Since that isn't the case I'll be keeping my PS3 even when I get a PS4. I will be playing GTA V until VI is out. Hopefully in a couple years Gaikai will be up and running so I won't need to keep my PS3. My PS3 has a lot of life left in it. When I buy PS+ for my PS4 it will also be activated on my PS3 so I'll have a load of free games to play on it. So yeah I'm keeping my PS3.
wwinterj
My question to you guys is: Would you do the same and if not, why not? Not a chance. I won't buy the same game twice and a console doesn't stop been great just because a new one comes out. I'd still want to play my current games now and then even when I get around to buying a PS4 next year. I'll keep my PS3 set up for that very purpose. I'm moving the game series I play to the PS3 in preparation. My 360 can go into storage. There isn't many next gen games that interest me. The ones that have me hyped like Kingdom Hearts 3 don't have a release date yet and won't do for sometime. Other games that interest me like Watch Dogs and Assassins Creed IV are avaible on current and next gen systems. Although I'm 50/50 what versions to buy and I'll possibly end up buying them for the PS4 when I buy one I know they are nothing to get hot and bothered about been as they are not next gen only and are out at the start of a systems life. As I said before and I'll say it again I'll buy a PS4 several months after launch as I'm in no rush and it gives me time to get the cash together while living my life. During that time my PS3 will get a lot of love and even after that. I've still got Mega Drive and Nintendo consoles that work and I play now and then. I've no reason or need to sell any of my consoles. Edited August 10, 2013 by wwinterj
aldisdzerve
nope You are not the talkative type, are you? Why wouldn't you? Why would you? I still have PS1, PS2, PS3, Xbox, XBox360 in my shelf under TV. And i still have boxes of games for all those consoles! I never sell any of my gaming staff. I just keep it there for collection! GTA 360
No way! I'll be keeping the current consoles forever. And there's a lot of games that I like on the 360 that I don't want to get rid of so no.
MikeyB
I'd wait a year for Microsoft and Sony to fix any bugs, which there inevitably will be, and then I'd pick it up the same time I pick a console up. Probably 12 to 18 months after the console launch. Probably the same at this. Buying on day one is never a good idea but I always do. I'm sure during production of V they hadn't just ignored the possibility of releasing on the next gen at some point. They would be fools to have done. I expect all the resources for the game are suitable for the better experience on the next gen but are being "toned down" to suit the current hardware. I am almost certain that half way through the life cycle of V there will be a next gen release of it. By that time, people will be clamouring for something new and it would only take a few little additions plus the better graphics to get fans buying it. DarkDayz
Made for this gen, will play on this gen. Next gen console wont add anything but slightly better graphics if it does happen, which for me, wont make for a more immersive experience. 7csc
No, not really. I'll wait 2 more years and then i'll buy a next generation console. But i'm not gonna sell my actual one. Everything costs money and to have this one (ps3) I worked hard
Vex_Doppel
Probably not, its not just GTAV, but I have a backlog of games I want to play/finish. Now if they get the Gaikai working for backwards compatablity on the PS4 I'll probalby get rid of it. I'm still enjoying Last Of US, havn't finished Skyrim yet, just got Hitman Absolution on PS+, wanna get Dragon's Crown, and GTAV will come out soon. Also, the PS+ games for the PS3 won't be coming out on the PS4. So while PS+ keeps handing out free games I havn't played yet I'm going to keep it my PS3. Saliva
If next gen was backward compatible then yes. But it isn't.
cholesterol
sh*t man, next-gen is a pipe dream for me. I barley make enough to make a living. But on the bright side, Think of how cheap you could get a ps3 or 360 in coming months. I'll be current gen bound along with my crappy pc for a while. Which isn't bad that bad. imo
twistedweather
Nope. Still playing a lot of my PS3 games currently and there are more games I would like to play on the current gen. There prolly wont be that much of a difference btwn the current and next gen GTAV. Definitely not enough to shell out $440, imo. Don't think I will get a PS4 until it been out for a couple years when developers have had more experience creating games for the next gen consoles. Cinoy
No i dont sell any consoles... its not worth getting like 100$ for your ps3 when ps4 comes out... id rather keep it to play all the ps3 games... Ill probably only get a PS4 later on maybe like around a year or two after launch when the price drops to like 299$ or there is a black friday deal etc.
SP3CTR3
nope You are not the talkative type, are you? Why wouldn't you? lol. well i wouldn't because then i'll regret it like i did my past systems.i don't think theres a reason to get rid of your system just because a game might come out on next gen. i personally will keep the system and game. maybe down the line if they do offer it for ps4 then i'll get it but i just want to enjoy whatever life my ps3 still has before i move on kinda sad. Besides, too much money. Edited August 10, 2013 by SP3CTR3
Toshio_maxoS
Buy a Ps4 now? Nooo.... games still looking same, are expensive... in one year, graphics changed into incredible, Ps4 only coast 250-300€...
