Anyone think the map is much bigger then we expect

No, I don't believe the map is going to be bigger than I expected. Maybe for some it may end up bigger than they expected though.

 

I simply believe that we do know the contours of the map and the size but we just don't have all the final details yet.

Yeah for a moment I thought that the map was a bit too small, but the more and more I look at the trailers and the community made map the more I`m starting to think: "What if it`s too big?" But that`s just silly

No. I feel that we've seen 75% of the map.

I feel the same way but that we have seen 75% in a really broad view. We have seen a lot of the mountain

ranges, some other towns but not in detail. It's going to look MASSIVE standing in the countryside. Just look at

a screenshot of Blaine County and imagine one of the protags just standing there.

 

So in that respect makes me feel better. But If I could go back a year I'd choose not to look

at the mapping thread...some crazy accurate maps lol.

 

Still will be a lot left to discover.

You can say that the map is bigger than IV, San Andreas and Red Dead Redemption together, but how massive it exactly feels is another thing, and you can not judge it until you get to play the game. But I can definitely see the map feeling bigger than I imagine now.

I am right there with you on this, I strongly believe they are holding back the real size of the map for release and its going to be gigantic with many different environments to explore. Do you think there will be snow? I personally think they will cause if its they're biggest and most ambitious game to date so its most likely in the game. They have done a great job with keeping this game a secret and they will surely surprise the f*ck out of us in a week and a months time.

RDR, GTA IV and GTA:SA all feel big to me. But will GTAV feel big? I don't know. I feel like I have seen 90% of the map. With the past GTA's I never ever knew the maps before playing the game. So, that factor is missing.

Almost every shot we've seen is in a same place over and over, therefore hiding the huge and vast environment still to be explored.

 

I believe we haven't even seen 25% of the world.

I honestly think Los Santos, Paleto, Sandy Shores, Malibu, and another town would be enough. I want to go out and feel like I'm in the country, secluded.

We may have seen a lot of the map (debate able), but we've seen it at a distance. What do we know of the neighborhoods, the suburbs, under the sea, even the top of the mountain near paleto has secrets in plain sight.

 

This is all ignoring the very real possibility that there is another islànd.

To be honest, RDR was the perfect sized map for the country. LC was the perfect size for the city. In GTA V, we're getting a city larger than LC, and countryside that's over 3x larger than RDR (including ocean). Anything past a city the size of LC and countryside the size of RDR is just Rockstar saying that they love us for making them multi billionaires.

This game isn't big, it isn't huge, ITS f*ckIN MASSIVE! The 8g install for xbox 360? That's the entire file size of skyrim..

 

The game is 15gigs on xbox 360 and 18gigs on PS3.

 

Rockstar has created the game to end all games(this generation).

 

The draw distance is spectacular, people take for granted the little things R* do. Take a look at the level of detail in everything.

 

We've been kept in the dark about so much info it actually frightens me.

 

Hell I bet the trailers just scratched the surface of this game. f*ck it, theres over 100 hours of just AUDIO in the game, like HOLYSHT.

 

I might have a heart attack when I play this game.

I don't expect to spend significant time jacking cars on the ocean floor. So counting the ocean floor is a bit bogus.

 

It wouldn't take very much ocean for the undersea to feel massive, because getting around underwater is pretty much like walking speed -- it will take a very long time to explore the ocean floor , in the same way that it would take a very long time to explore RDR or Skyrim on foot).

 

Jets, helicopters and fast cars are going to require a very big map area for us to feel like we are in a massive map.

Judging by the street grid and the shape of the island, the size is between 7 and 8 times Red Dead Redemption. I can't wait !
