I don't think so. Even though GTA V will probably be a great game, I doubt it will get GOTY. Everybody seemed hyped as f*cking f*ck for The Last of Us (even more than GTA V). It's hard for Rockstar to top that, but Rockstar is one of the few companies who can achieve that.

Watch Dogs does seem revolutionary, but to say some of the new gameplay aspects from V won't be? Well thats just ridiculous, what other game gives you the ability to swith character at will, when on a mission or off, what games let you plan out your heists, or buy stocks? These three features have never been done in ANY game so I can understand people not grasping how awesome it actually is, but after V you will think differently.

They already announced a long time ago that they did that to the AI so you wouldn't be spotted by enemies seeing your companions.

 

Also, how can you have good AI in a game like this with like a million things going on at the same time.

THis game has all the potential to be the best game of current gen gaming not just some Game of The Year award, the hardware of PS3 and Xbox 360 is so mature right now and its exactly why R* can make a game that looks so good and runs so well. GOTY should only go to the game with the highest replayablitity cause a game you beat and get bored of in a month should not compare to a game with everlasting fun that is non-linear.

Although GTA4 was a good game, id say san andreas was the best in the series.

 

I felt GTA4s story was too serious and the game felt like a few things were missing, planes, customisation etc. Although it was a great game.

III and IV had the most impact.

Go on Amazon Website and check the reviews for San Andreas, One of the high rated games along with Vice City. The two mentioned games 3 and 4 was dull in comparison to those two.

 

I.E PS2 generation of games were the best. Only a handful of games now can compete, bar uncharted and The Last of US

Were VC and SA better then III? Yea, but III created a big shock-effect. The transition from GTA II to III was amazing and unbelievable at the time.

You use review ratings as an argument why VC and SA were such good games but then you say IV was dull. Meanwhile IV has a really high review rating on most sites ect.

GTA III and IV were revolutionary no doubt, but like anything, practice does make perfect (or at least better). VC and SA were progressively more featured and "bigger" than III, even if it can't be completely agreed that they were better.

 

If that holds true here, RDR was better than IV, and V should be better than RDR. At least I hope.

Anyway, no. GTA V is evolutionary, not revolutionary. Simcity and the first Sims made an impact. GTA III and arguably IV made impacts. The first Driver made an impact, etc. on and on in each genre.

 

Bottom Line, GTA V will not make a huge impact on the industry, because an impact on the industry = other games copying that game. And GTA already has a glut of clone series (that's not to say that some are not on-par with GTA).

Biased opinion.. The gameplay of missions in all GTA games i witnessed was like 100 missions, 6 big missions, i don"t feel what is excatly my goal. GTA is known for it"s Free Roam fun, but no way a story or a mission pillar in 2013. When i first played GTA IV story i got completely lost, all the missions were drive Lil jacob to his house, i want to make a deal watch over it with a sniper, when i finish the mission they call me, hey i have a friend who wants jobs done call him, i will give you his number etc... Nothing special in the story gameplay. Look at TLoU, all the missions are big... It had a goal, not just to get paid, f*ck women. Sorry but GTA V dick riders ruined the gaming industry. We know it"s a great game, but it"s not perfect, it missd 1 special thing!! The perfect story. Sorry for the grammar it"s because i am not near my PC i am using an Ipad, that"s why i did not focus on my grammar, because it"s hard to type in an ipad.
