Exclusive DLC to PS3?

I have a feeling that the planned DLC mentioned in the following article: http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=571042&st=0

..will be PS3 exclusive (for some period of time). Just take a look at this.

Note also that every preview, screenshot and video of the game has been the PS3 version. If Sony are throwing money at them for exclusive advertisements on the side of buildings, I'm pretty darn sure they are capable of throwing money at them for DLC content. Considering Microsoft did the same thing with IV - I think this is Sony getting their revenge.

Sorry Xbox guys sad.gif

None of this means anything.

Yeah, some retailers are advertising GTA V on PS3, doesn't mean anything, really. And the GTA V box, there will be a PS3/GTA V bundle, so doesn't mean anything again.

Sony looking desperate as hell after all recent R* games performed better on the Xbox both performance and sales wise.

It'd be funny if after all this the Xbox gets some kinds of exclusive stuff, but non of the consoles will get special attention we all gonna get the same game, DLC and all that.

Guys, Rockstar has a deal with Sony but they're not stupid.

Games usually sell more copies on Xbox, GTAIV did and so did many other Rockstar games, did Rockstar shut out the PS3 then? No... They made timed-exclusives not f*ckyou-exclusives.

No matter what anyone says.

Rockstar cares about the moolah, a lot.

And they're not gonna shut out an entire community just because they have a deal with Sony.

Besides, Sony isn't really like that.

Rockstar had a Sony deal for its past couple of games and they let them release 360 and PS3 DLCs at the same time.

Time-exclusive DLCs make sense, and that's probably the case.

But 100% console exclusive DLC is pretty far fetched.

Don't be a console war starting douche.

Guys, there isn't gonna be DLC like there was for IV. It was a commercial flop. There will be negligible DLC like clothing and cars. No fundamental new storylines. And every console will get it.

No one should be expecting IV's episodes in terms of additional content, a major problem with the episodes is one, they only came out to one console on release, two the user base of that console is split with most people not having HDDs so they couldn't even download the content, plus there was a lot more consumer ignorance on DLC in 2009 than there is today oh and it didn't help that the first episode came out almost a year after IV's release. So yeah, sales were disappointing and it really should be no wonder they were, it still sold well but the amount of money put into it was the problem, even if it was Microsoft's in the form of an advance/loan. That doesn't mean they won't do another $10 add-on that's smaller in scale like RDR's Undead Nightmare (which was critically and commercially successful) instead of what was almost a new GTA in its own right. They're not going to just do nickle and dime crap like cars/clothes though hopefully they put them in packs and not individually though I'm still not sure this is what they'll do. IMO RDR and Max Payne 3 are still good indications of what to expect.

Seeing as we are so close to next gen, I can't see how any sort of substantial DLC is viable, but I'd love to be proven wrong because I loved the GTA IV DLC's.

ill do it for redx165

Rockstar ONLY shows the best version of the game. its best Version. they are marketing ps3 in gameplay and on ads because its best version

Thank You

Besides if there was exclusive DLC coming to PS3 you would of heard it by now like you did with RDR and LA Noire.

We know that. Also, that's not what the topic of discussion is.

PS3 MIGHT get timed exclusive DLC just like how 360 for BOGT/TLAD early. 360 will still get the DLC just at a later date.

I'm a PS3 owner and I honestly don't care as I won't be buying DLC. I'll wait for the COMPLETE edition.

Well, I don't see why anyone would get upset about getting a few items a few months later.

Even if there is exclusive content for PS3 its only going to be small. How do you think us PS3 players felt when you got EFLC before we even had a chance too.

Small DLC is worthless cause you got a WHOLE game filled with sh*t to do so you can wait if there is one. Which I really don't think. Wouldn't of Sony or Rockstar Advertise exclusive content? That would make more sales on PS3. I bet if they did advertise that atleast 1/8 of the Xbox preorders would go to PS3.

If the PS3 version gets anything it isn't going to be so substantial that it'll sell consoles and I don't think that's the reason for it. The console sales are going to come from those who were already looking to get a PS3 in the first place and the GTA V bundle and content deal might push them over the edge. They might get something that's enough to shift people who own both consoles to getting the PS3 version, especially if there isn't as big of a performance/visual gap between the two as there was between IV and RDR and I do think that's what they're shooting for, more software sales on Sony's platform means more licensing fees being paid to them and in turn more money and that's worked in the past with Sony's deals with Ubisoft. Sony also bundled Assassin's Creed III last year and ACIII came with some bonus exclusive content as have previous AC games, ACIV is also going to have PS3/PS4 bonus content though I doubt there will be another bundle outside of store created ones.

Again, if Sony gets anything it isn't going to be anywhere close to the scale of IV's episodes, it's probably going to be more along the lines of RDR's extra outfit and gang hideout.

If the PS3 version gets anything it isn't going to be sosubstantial that it'll sell consoles beyond those who were already looking to get a PS3 in the first place and decide to get the GTA V bundle, but they might get something that's enough to shift people who own both consoles to getting the PS3 version, especially if there isn't as big of a performance/visual gap between the two as there was between IV and RDR and I do think that's what they're shooting for, more software sales on Sony's platform means more licensing fees being paid to them and in turn more money and that's worked in the past with Sony's deals with Ubisoft. You would be surprise how many people would switch their preorders if one console has a exclusive item. Seeing how GTA V is now 720p on PS3 this would give Sony a HUGE advantage.

Also a great way to sell a lot of PS3 right before Next Gen.

I'm a PS3 user, but I don't want any "platform exclusive" crap. I hated how long it took the GTA IV expansions to be released on the PS3 and PC.

Also, I believe Xbox 360 players are still missing out on Solomon's Folly, and that was the best hideout in Red Dead Redemption before the experience point nerfs (easy level 50 grind).

I wouldn't be as that's what I'm getting at and expecting if Sony does get something for the PS3 version, I'm also just saying it won't be something so major that XB360 owners who have no interest in a PS3 are going to plop down the $270 for a PS3/GTA V bundle just to access it. People who already own both consoles or already considering buying a PS3 are what the target would be. I do think if any sort of bonus content is going to be released it'll either get mentioned at Gamescom or just before release. The long shot IMO is getting all DLC before the XB360 version, similar to the deals MS has with EA for BF4 and Activision for CoD and I just can't see Rockstar agreeing to that crap.

Seeing as we are so close to next gen, I can't see how any sort of substantial DLC is viable, but I'd love to be proven wrong because I loved the GTA IV DLC's.

Why wouldn't it be viable to release DLC on the scale of Undead Nightmare? People aren't going to abandon current gen consoles the moment the PS4 and XBox One hit, there's still going to be over 150 million PS3 and XB360 owners out there and more over the next couple years, besides that in a year or so after release Rockstar/T2 can simply release a "GOTY" type package with all the DLC and sell even more units just as they've done with RDR and IV. Like I already said, there's zero chance of it being the size/scope of the episodes, those were bigger, more expensive and too much longer to produce than what RDR's content was and I think that's totally within the realm of reason to expect.

Anyway, we'll see.

I still think that part of the reason the PS3 got that, aside from Sony's influence was to kind of make up for the PS3 version falling a bit short visually and performance wise compared to the XB360.

Doesn't matter which console it comes to first. The only thing that matters is that the final product, GTA V, is coming to both consoles, plain and simple. I have an xbox, but I really dont care

Rockstar already gave Sony DLC for RDR and LA Noire.

You're right their target is people who own both consoles. Honestly lets say you had both consoles but either only play offline or don't have friends you play with/ Have friends on both consoles. Wouldn't you get it for the console that has exclusive DLC?

I would cause you get even more for the same price that the other console will have to wait for.

It's possible. It's probably gonna be an extremely miniscule thing, like the one extra hideout for RDRedemption.

There would be DLC content like additional treasures/shipwrecks to find underwater, more safehouses, more upgrades for safehouses, the Blimp (for those who didn't pre-order)... PS3 exclusive for some period of time - like 6 months.

I think it's confirmed they won't be doing an episodes DLC like they did with IV so it could be possible Sony gets a real exclusive DLC. Not sure if it will be worth much but still.

Means nothing, it could be that ps3 gets dlc before, but who cares? It's also very likely that Sony just wants to shout out "PS!!!" as marketing for the incoming next gen console releases... happy.gif

It's for both systems. Unless you been under a rock for the past year and a half.

We're talking about timed exclusive DLC, if you have troubling reading.

For real, I'm 90% sure PS3 will get all DLC timed exclusive, similar to CoD with Xbox 360 and Xbox One and BF3 had with PS3.

I'm not saying he's right. I'll believe it when I see it.

Given all the marketing that makes the game appear to be a PS3 exclusive, though, it seems likely.

I think the PS3 will get the DLC first, then on xbox later. And the only reason why Playstation is all over the advertisements is Sony paying Rockstar to advertise the PS3 more.

Awh, why you gotta be like that?

I never meant to take it out of context, especially since there's no possible way for anyone to see my post without your being there in the same window.

I just meant to comment on that one specific bit of your post, and say that retailers are often unreliable when it comes to certain stuff.

It's not December 31st, but there are 3 games sitting at my desk that had the release date of "December 31st" at local retailers.
