visionist
I have 2 complaints about Plasma. First is screen burn-in. Second is that Plasma TVs wear out much quicker. Sure, it's only 2 complaints. But they are pretty big ones. The first is much, much, much less of a problem than it used to be 10 or even 5 years ago. You can comfortably leave a static image on a decent modern Plasma for eight hours before image retention develops, and it's gone within minutes of watching something else. The second is pure Whoresh*t, Plasmas last around thirty-thousand hours.

Carlover325
The second is pure Whoresh*t, Plasmas last around thirty-thousand hours. Not in my experience. My dad went through 3 Plasmas in 7 years. My first LCD has lasted that long, which I bought in 2006. I sold it last year and it was still working great. Maybe Plasma has improved, but I still prefer LCD. SP3CTR3
I recently got a Vizio 60 inches and it looks amazing!!! i agree Vizios are f*cking beautiful. i regret bringing mine back to costco. there was a problem with my cable provider and not the tv itself that is why my tv kept turning off. then i exchanged it for a Sharp Aquos 40in. which isn't bad but it's not a Vizio
d3ex2
To be honest as long as it is a HD TV you'll be fine. The game will only run at 720p. Anyway, unless your TV is worn out or damaged I'd just keep it. My tv is 5 years old and works just fine. No need to replace it. Up to you though. Don Sal Leone
It depends on your current TVs colours and input lag. I mean, if the current is fine and your not fussed about the colours then there's no need to change I primarily game on a 24" full HD Acer LCD Led backlit monitor and it works wonders. Vast majority of games are made in the 720p resolution, so that's what I have set my consoles to. I prefer smaller TVs as I'm able to see my surroundings a lot better in game. Id recommend not going for a plasma. Instead go for a matte screen LCD/LED/IPS TV that's got low input lag and high colour output. If your a gaming enthusiast I'd say research all the best TVs in your size range and price bracket before purchasing. A TV can be a big long term investment for some people. Hope this helps! SpaggetAboutIt
I'm also planning to upgrade my 42" to a 60". Basically, if you want to get the ps4 go for a 1080p, or if you watch blu-rays or Netflix its also worth it but ps3 games only support 720p with a few minor exceptions. gta5freemode4eva
As long as its new (todays tech) grab lcd, led OR plasma. People think that as screens get bigger that the quality of the picture gets worse... that's absolute crap... I've got a 32 inch and a 50 inch, both are stunning (both 1080 full hd). Basically grab what you can afford and what would work best with what area room you've got. You could always grab a samsung plasma full hd 1080 3d and play GTA V in 3D (tis what I've got and what I'll be doing!) - note its a 2d to 3d conversion but it pulls it off pretty well! meson1
If you're buying in store, what ever telly you buy, do not fall for being persuaded to buy an expensive HDMI cable. Salesmen are under pressure and on commission to sell expensive premium cables with TVs, BD players and other HD devices. There is no difference in picture quality between a bog standard £5 cable and the £100 cable they will try to foist upon you. They carry a digital signal, so you either get a picture or you don't. Just make sure the cable is specced as HDMI 1.4 (to cover all eventualities) and you're good to go.
ajrunke
Ahhh console kiddies! Complain that a gaming PC costs too much but then never consider that you must also purchase a TV to play a console game. That's a total sidebar, but thought it was important enough to toss out there.

Krist075
Lol it´s not only about the size. I also have a 6 year old 32 inch hdtv which is fine for me, might be even too big since I´m playing from a pretty close distance.
progaimz
Plasma or LED whatever you prefer will work great, make sure the Hz is high(some people prefer plasmas some prefer LED). I'm getting a 40" Philips LED HDTV

PLaYbAck_Nine
Plasmas are going to burn the radar into your screen. Leaving a ghost effect while watching TV afterwords.
RedChuCKz_
Yea if i upgrade I'll probably get the next size up. Check out ebay, or Amazon. Anything Sony, Vizio, Samsung, Toshiba, LG , is great Did you just put Vizio on the list. Go with Samsung, Sony, or Sharp. I have a Samsung smart 46" LED the picture its just beautiful especially when you have dynamic turned on the colors just pop out.
XxPhillies26xX
I think you should treat yourself to something special. Why not you love the GTA franchise and you like playing it. I'm thinking about buying a new TV as well to experience one of the biggest game that will be released. Trust me rayman617 it will be really worth it. If you want something very nice I would recommend a Samsung LED TV. I think a Samsungs TV are pretty good. My dad purchased a 46 inch Samsung LED TV and the TV was beautiful. I played Red dead Redemption and GTA 4 on there and I must say one of the best experiences I've ever encountered playing a game on a TV. But its up to you. Pick the decision that works best for you. Bertanius
Don't bother with anything huge, your consoles won't display 1080p. The larger the screen, the lower the quality. Sounds silly, but it's true, every company will tell you that a huge TV is great because it's 1080p, if you had a 100" TV, you would have to sit so far away from it, but it would still look horrible, as the pixels would be so stretched and big you could easily see them. What you have now is fine, don't fall into the market game of 'who has the biggest screen', it's a waste of your money and will ruin game experience more than improve it. The highest you want to go for even a 1080p screen is about 24 inches, I'm not sure about 720p, but after that you can start seeing the stretching and blurring of the image. Since many console gamers appear to play games from a distance, 32" would be fine, the distance should lower visibility of pixels. If you must fall into the market and get a new TV for no reason, LED would be your best option, Plasma is horrible for gaming, and cold-cathode fluorescent lamp screens are apparently becoming outdated. Oh, and make sure those store workers don't tempt you into buying some ridiculous 100" screen, it would look horrible. I've seen large screens up close, and they look terrible. Your best option, in my opinion, is that you keep your current screen. You can use the saved money on something more productive. You should be glad you have a screen for playing the game, 720p is all you will need for a console.

TheNextGTAprotag
no motion trail on plasmas. no colour bleed and no light shadowing effect in the corners. Plasmas were a no no for gaming back in the day cos of burn in. now, that is not really an issue so, if you like fluid motion, better colours and a more realistic overall experience then plasma all the way my nigs EDIT: add, plasma also cheaper. So more bang for buck!!!!
kastrenzo
considering what you have I personally wouldn't waste money on upgrading a display until the PC version came, if that's your thing. I can't even remember what size my toshiba hdtv at home is, Size never really mattered to me, I always cared about refresh rate and detail anyway
