WelcomePaladin2
As those from Scotland will testify, there is a shop called g-force which is notorious for selling games early. Me and my friend per-ordered gta v from there today and were told to collect our copy on Saturday 14th September Is this not illegal? I was surprised because I thought rocks tar wouldn't have sent their product to shops with this reputation. We all know R* want to limit the possible leaks of this game so do you think they will risk losing sales and not sent gta to these kind of shops? Or do they know a leak is inevitable so won't really mind?

Spider-Vice
It happens a lot, but any footage on the internet before the release date will get removed immediately. I still remember the GTA IV intro a week before. Tonythomas180
a friend of mine got gta iv a few days early and stupidly played it while connected to xbox live. his profile got banned for 5000 years lol. if you do get the game early unplug those ethernet cables and disable your wireless connections. just a friendly warning
ACR
There will probably be streaming of GTAV on twitch tv a few days before official release.
dgF1
Ahh, G-Force! It's not illegal I don't think, but try stay offline and don't connect to social club, I know someone who got banned from XBL for playing something before it was released. Or do they know a leak is inevitable so won't really mind? There is no law against breaking a street date or legitimately owning a copy of a game before its release, the legal issue can come from contracts in place with the store and the customer has zero to do with anything, usually if a store breaches the street date terms there's a fee though sometimes publishers give stores permission to sell early but I doubt T2 would do that. Some stores, especially independent ones do is sell the game under the table and don't officially "sell" it on release day. Getting banned from playing a legitimate and legally owned copy of a game absurd and stupid. Then again, I once got modded on GameFAQs for "Illegal Activities" and was placed on a "Warned" status" for mentioning that I received my copy of Infamous 2 several days early from a promotion Sony and Subway were doing. Yeah, that pissed me off.

highnrich
so no need for jaelous morality-bullshiit for downloading the game 1-2 weeks prior release when i already paid for the license at the R* Shop but jaelous kids who dont know google.com for "how to install the cfw" to their ps3 will cry no matter what Edited August 9, 2013 by highnrich
poklane
It's illegal. The shop could end on R*'s black list (not being able to sell their games) and can get a fine of thousands of pounds per copy sold.
WelcomePaladin2
I think its crazy how you can get your account banned for playing it early! the multiplayer should be locked til release date , i agree with that but if you have the chance to get GTA V early, obvcourse you are going to snap at the chance. i hold my hands up, im a trophy whore! and like to platinum every game on my account. So the thought of getting banned is off putting. however, i cant have GTA V sitting there without getting played (thats a new form of mental torture)
SP3CTR3
i don't know about that store but at Gamestop if they had it before the date and sold a copy early by anyone, it would cost them their job.
NoxiousWR
If you own a legal copy then you won't get banned. If you have a flashed Xbox/ps3 (whatever they call it on ps3) and don't know how to 'cover your tracks' properly, then you'll get banned. Enterprise
the only question for me is: can you stream it early then?
K20
maybe. i'm sure most shops will get deliveries for Wednesday/Thursday. no doubt they'll be staff who'll start playing it.

ScottishHeist123
Personally, I have never heard of G-Force. I'll check it out. Bizarre how they advise you collect your copy 3 days before the release date, though.
IronZombie
Not illegal to buy the game early. It's not even illegal for shops to sell early. They're simply breaking the street date agreed upon, so they're subject to a fine. If you can get it early, go ahead. Plenty of streams are gonna be up the week before release anyway. d3ex2
I heard of this too. I know they are known to sell games early. They sometimes import games. I remember getting all the Pokemon games about 6 months early. They were selling The Last of Us on the Tuesday when the game wasn't due out until the Friday. I'm not sure about them selling it on the 14th. I can wait until the 17th so whatever.
abczyx
Actually, breaking the street date might in some cases be illegal. They presumably have a contract with R* to start selling on a particular date, i.e. the 17th and no earlier, so R* could potentially sue for breach of that contract if they sell it early. More likely is that R* would simply not provide them with pre-release stock again.
BlackNoise
If you would shut up, they might be able to keep selling the copies early. Of course it's not illegal, but how do you think the store gets copies of the game? They don't buy them from some guy on the street. TTWO won't do business with a retailer who sells games early. As soon as you created this topic, people have probably been contacting R* and TTWO.
MisterFR3SH
I have never heard of G-Force as a company that specifies in the gaming industry, I've only heard companies like Game, Game station (which merged into Game) and HMV that try to compete here is Scotland. Might as well see what they offer.

G-Force is in glasgow btw and to the guy who said i have to shut up. im sure rockstar have knew about this store, they have been doing it for years

I've got several games from there before, they are notorious for selling games before launch. Once they have it in stock they will normally give you it if you ask. I'm sure they've got into sh*t for it before. Cash only, game in a brown paper bag. "Don't tell anyone you got that from here." Don't think it's illegal however, they can get fined if caught. So they know there will be people playing it earlier and post videos and screens in the internet, so the only thing they can and will do is "damage" control and try to let all the gameplay things posted to be deleted until the official release. I also remember they protracted shipping the IV copies as much as they could. There were stores which got the copies right on the same day as the release. OP speaks the truth. As a Glaswegian I can confirm that this store is known to sell games early. Might be a day, a few days, a week or months before. Basically they will sell you it as soon as they can get a hold of it even if it means importing it. This store has been around since at least the end of the 90's. They've been doing this for well over a decade.
