Druffmaul
I'm losing hope for GTA V seeing how bad IV was. I lost hope for humanity from seeing how many morons in the world can claim that GTA IV is a bad game while keeping a straight face.

AmoebaJuice
Ok.. before you hate on this thread, I just want to say that GTA IV was by far the worst in the series. GTA IV may have influenced GTA V's development and it could very well turn out to be disappointing like IV was. Lets start by saying that IV's story was very weak and the missions were way too repetitive. For most missions, you would go from point A to point B to kill your target. All you did was kill, kill, kill unlike San Andreas' missions which were very diverse and interesting to do. The driving was very weird and you can't customize your vehicles. You also can't purchase properties and own businesses. The weapons were also lacking in IV. Rockstar took out the over the top weapons such as the chainsaw, flamethrower, minigun, etc. The graphics weren't that great. It felt blurry and the lighting was off. There also wasn't as many interiors as in past GTA games such as malls, clubs (minus TBOGT), 24/7s, ammu-nations, police stations, casinos, etc. There was almost nothing to do when you finish IV. San Andreas has so much side stuff to do such as parachuting, driving monster trucks, robbing houses, gambling in casinos, hotring racing, exploring the wilderness outside the city, turf wars, causing chaos with army vehicles such as tanks and hydras, etc. Point is, GTA IV was a major step back in the series and very disappointing. Hopefully GTA V won't go this route. I'm losing hope for GTA V seeing how bad IV was. Rockstar messed Grand Theft Auto up big time with this generation. Hopefully they can get back on track with the next generation of consoles. *Give me your opinion why GTA V won't suck. You talk like you know absolutely nothing about GTA 5, and if you really don't you should because there's enough information out there to know that it's going to be by far the best GTA game they've made so far... it could disappoint? Keep dreaming, unless you're some idiot that is purposely trying to find reasons to dislike something you'll be happy with what i am already calling GOTY. Squidhead
I agree IV was a let down, but what makes you think V won't be that much better than IV? More weapons, vehicles, planes, customize cars, property purchase, side activites, what more would you want?

AmoebaJuice
I wouldn't worry about the game being disappointing, because I doubt it will be disappointing. I'm worried that the story will be disappointing or too short. Yeah the story looks like sh*t honestly, how the f*ck do you do an ending with 3 playable crazy money hungry characters? If you kill one of them you will destroy the new 3 character element. Are you trolling or are you really that stupid?

creed200569
Think of GTA IV to V as what GTA III was to San Andreas. GTA III was an attempt to go further with the series as a huge step above it's predecessor GTA 2. The game was the base of the future of GTA games and San Andreas was the last major game that used that type of engine so they went all out at the time. GTA III was praised by many for the direction it took and still is loved by many today. Now with GTA IV they tried doing something similar by trying to go another step further with the series (which I think they did a pretty good job in doing). The only problem is that there are a lot more people who have higher expectations and the entirely new engine, physics, mechanics, etc wasn't enough apparently. Once again Rockstar is taking everything they've learned from IV and applying it to V as they did with San Andreas by taking great things from Vice City and III in addition to many more features. GTA V could disappoint, yes, but based on what I've seen it's quite unlikely given you look at the history of the III era. This is basically what rockstar said. They were still getting used to the engine when they first made IV and now they have mastered it and said people will be blown away by V in more ways than they think and based on their reputation and especially what Ive seen, I believe it

djdiond
GTA IV was the GTA III of the PS3/360 generation. Yes it was "dull" in comparison to Vice City or San Andreas as far as content, but it was a leap forward in technology much like GTA III was. GTA IV introduced better driving physics (yes a little boaty but better than III era), Euphoria, better graphics all round and better sound, better shooting. Without the development of these key aspects, GTA V would not exist.
rodrich266
I don't wanna be negative but GTA V will disappoint many many people and it is due partly because all of the speculation that has been going around for years and for the fact that it has been 5 years for the game to come out it just gives people so many time to think about the possibilities! And also for the fact that Rockstar announced the game in 2011, so people started making even more guesses of their "ideal GTA V" I for one am really excited for this game, I like that we have a weapon wheel where we can carry all our guns like in RDR, and I like the customization. But it slightly disappointed me when I saw we had regenerating health So you can see the game has disappointed me in that way, but it BY NO MEANS, means that I don't love this game and that I can already tell it will be my favorite. wwinterj
*Give me your opinion why GTA V won't suck. There is no guarantee it won't suck but based on what we know/have seen so far GTA V seems to do what IV didn't and that's bring somethings new and fresh to the table. This would be the way the missions are structured and play as three protagonists. I agree with everything you said about IV save for the story. In my opinion GTA IV was the only GTA game where the story was good. Based on other R* games R* seemed to have improved in there storytelling a lot and I'm sure GTA V will be no exception. GTA V also seems to have added in a lot of things that was left out of IV. A lot of fun things like customization, underwater sections and buying properties. It's also added completely new things to the mix such as hunting and wildlife. In short it seems to have merged the graphics and wildlife of Red Dead Redemption with the detail and physics of GTA IV with all the fun San Andreas had to offer and then some. It's important people don't hype themselves up to much as that increases the chance of disappointment but I think GTA V has every chance of been a true successor to San Andreas. Something GTA IV didn't do. Edited August 9, 2013 by wwinterj

Krist075
IV is actually the best game I´ve ever played along with San andreas (can´t decide which one is better). ItsClipZz
IMO IV is the worst if your a idiot kid who cant play games , driving is stupid, fighting is easy and stupid, A.I are dumb. the ideas like planes and vagas and gangs N hommies, all good, quality though now ( not at the time ) , is amazingly poor, GTA IV was 5 years ago, and its still amazing, Physics / Driving are awsome, lighting is awsome , driving is amazing, shooting is kickass, only thing it needs is weapon wheel, more weapons, and car mods. Have a cookie GTA IV is my favorite in the series and it's the one I keep going back to even over recent open world games. Everything in it to me just feels focused and the driving and physics are spot on. I have actually tried going back to San Andreas, but its just so damn hard when GTA IV was such a huge step above it in almost everything it did. SesameStPimp
Any game that I pay $60 for and keeps me busy for at least two or more weeks of my spare time was well worth the purchase. Dopeeey
Well the lighting in GTA 4 was not that bad. Just fix your TV and game display settings and the game looks colorful and perfect. Lanzfeld113
Just don't expect too much and you won't be let down. 1. There will be pop up trees and cars when moving fast. 2. There will be repeat cars. 3. The AI will really suck.
leon3789
While I agree with some of your points, mainly the lack of anything to do after you beat the story, and the lack of customizing your cars, I have to greatly disagree with a lot of your points as well, mainly the story. I feel the story was the best part of GTA IV. It just went a different route then older GTA's, it went a more serious take then say SA, or 3. While to some that would kill the game I personally found it actually saved 4 with what it did lack. I also don't think the over top weapons are a make or break feature for GTA games. Can they be fun? Sure. Are they needed? not really. Even less so now that we have more sandbox games, namely Saints Row to take the role of over the top. I love SA, its my favorite GTA at the moment, but to be honest, the story really lacked. Oh and don't start a fight about car controls. Those are, without a doubt, COMPLETELY up to opinion.
