GTA 5 could disappoint..

Ok.. before you hate on this thread, I just want to say that GTA 4 was by far the worst in the series. GTA 4 may have influenced GTA 5's development and it could very well turn out to be disappointing like GTA 4 was. Lets start by saying that GTA 4's story was very weak and the missions were way too repetitive. For most missions, you would go from point A to point B to kill your target. All you did was kill, kill, kill unlike San Andreas' missions which were very diverse and interesting to do. The driving was very weird and you can't customize your vehicles. You also can't purchase properties and own businesses. The weapons were also lacking in GTA 4. Rockstar took out the over the top weapons such as the chainsaw, flamethrower, minigun, etc. The graphics weren't that great. It felt blurry and the lighting was off. There also wasn't as many interiors as in past GTA games such as malls, clubs (minus TBOGT), 24/7s, ammu-nations, police stations, casinos, etc. There was almost nothing to do when you finish GTA 4. San Andreas has so much side stuff to do such as parachuting, driving monster trucks, robbing houses, gambling in casinos, hotring racing, exploring the wilderness outside the city, turf wars, causing chaos with army vehicles such as tanks and hydras, etc. Point is, GTA 4 was a major step back in the series and very disappointing. Hopefully GTA 5 won't go this route.

I'm losing hope for GTA 5 seeing how bad GTA 4 was. Rockstar messed Grand Theft Auto up big time with this generation. Hopefully they can get back on track with the next generation of consoles.

*Give me your opinion why GTA 5 won't suck.

GTA 5's map looks so small! The map is also missing locations such as clubs, pet stores, etc.

Honestly I agree with you on the boring and dull part but for 2007 the graphics are amazing and the physics blew my mind but were annoying and I think rockstar knew their mistake about the boring part from gta 4 and are putting the fun back into GTA V thats why we're all so excited for it.

You do realise not everyone hated GTA IV, right?

Play GTA 1 and 2 on the GBC and still tell me GTA IV is the worst in the series.

I wouldn't worry about the game being disappointing, because I doubt it will be disappointing. I'm worried that the story will be disappointing or too short.

Could it disappoint? Yes.. not every game is perfect, but this game can be the closest thing to perfect. We won't know until release.

Whilst I agree now that GTA IV was slightly overrated, the game is also MASSIVELY overhated on this forum. Your fault with disliking GTA IV is due to your love of San Andreas - nothing wrong with feeling that, but it has clouded many people's judgement in rating GTA IV.

And why will GTA V not suck? Just look at every piece of information, screenshot and trailer released.

Yeah the story looks like sh*t honestly, how the f*ck do you do an ending with 3 playable crazy money hungry characters? If you kill one of them you will destroy the new 3 character element.

you say GTA IV had repetitive missions and then say SA didn't? the past 10 missions I've done on SA have been "go here, kill these, go back." The last 10 I've done on IV were delivering people, learning to shoot people, hunting down vans, stealing cars and the odd "go here, kill these, come back" mission. I'm sorry but San Andreas really isn't as good as you think it is mate. GTA IV was the best they could do in 2008, and it kicks San Andreas' arse in every aspect, yeah it doesn't have 3 cities, yeah it's a bit small, but every inch of IV felt alive at any time, walking through San Fierro in San Andreas felt like you're in a ghost town.

Guess we'll find out! The story doesn't look sh*t to me!

The reason you felt that way is because rockstar didn't have much to play around with in terms vehicles, weapons and even map variety.

Now we have planes, submarines and even the diversity of the terrain will give rockstar the creativity to create missions that were just not possible in GTAIV.

GTAIV is still well a developed game and holds strong to this day, it seems to be like marmite, some people absolutely hate it and others love it.

After GTA V comes out, I guarantee you that the internet will be crawling with tons of people who claim that it's a huge disappointment, with long and detailed lists of reasons that "prove" it. Of course it won't be as bad as it was with the GTA IV backlash... the sin that game committed was being so different from San Andreas, i.e. the fanboy favorite, the golden christ child of the GTA franchise. But people will invent their reasons for hating on V as well. You'll see.

Think of GTA IV to V as what GTA III was to San Andreas. GTA III was an attempt to go further with the series as a huge step above it's predecessor GTA 2. The game was the base of the future of GTA games and San Andreas was the last major game that used that type of engine so they went all out at the time. GTA III was praised by many for the direction it took and still is loved by many today.

Now with GTA IV they tried doing something similar by trying to go another step further with the series (which I think they did a pretty good job in doing). The only problem is that there are a lot more people who have higher expectations and the entirely new engine, physics, mechanics, etc wasn't enough apparently. Once again Rockstar is taking everything they've learned from IV and applying it to V as they did with San Andreas by taking great things from Vice City and III in addition to many more features.

GTA V could disappoint, yes, but based on what I've seen it's quite unlikely given you look at the history of the III era. ph34r.gifph34r.gif

sometimes. you look very strange. somewhat smiling. a little vain. saying not today.

I have never seen IV so poorly defended before comparing it to 1 and 2 real?

Anyway IV had the second best story in the series better than SA, VC and III imo.

You know R* made gamers after GTAIV, like RDR, MP3 and LA Noire...

This. icon14.gif

And IV didn't "suck", sure it may have lacked it certain features that were plentiful in SA but the damn game is a dark drama. R* wanted to try this route on and they most definitely succeeded. I mean it got mostly perfect ratings on credible gaming sites..As Gob Bluth would say, COME ON

Like everything else, it will be better once it comes out on the PC and the mods begin coming out. Most console games get old after a while.

GTA IV was the first HD GTA game on the current gen, so Rockstar have an excuse. On top of that, PS3 version was ported and the programming was a nightmare, so please, have some f*cking respect and have some sympathy before you go rambling on.

yea, some of the missions were repetitive, but it's like that in most shooter games. Yes, they f*cked up IV in some ways, but the majority of GTA fans still enjoyed IV. I'm 90% sure R* has learned from their mistakes and will correct them in V. V will probably have something that will disappoint a lot of people, but there is no reason for it to be worse than IV or even close to IV's level.

1. IV's story was far from weak, it was definitely the best, most coherent and most mature story in the franchise.

2. The driving was "weird" because it was completely overhauled, but it was definitely a major improvement compared to the previous games.

3. Erm...IV had more than 60 interiors, more than any of the past GTA games.

4. IV might have had less things to do, but they were done much better. The side missions in SA were incredibly tedious, repetitive, and most of them had nothing to do with the protagonist at all. It's quality > quantity. If you want to know how to make good side missions, take a look at the gang wars, drug wars, thriathlons, LC cage fighting, vigilante, most wanted, fixer, stubb's, random pedestrians, etc side missions from IV and EFLC. IV might have had less side missions, but they were much better designed.

Well, I think that answers it. IV had less variety than say, SA, but everything it had was massively improved. V will be like IV, only with more variety.

This thread could dissapoint...

And it did.

Why isn't it going to be bad? Well, you said it yourself that GTA 4 was the worst in the series, and this game is basically fixing everything that was wrong with it. So I mean, is it not obvious judging by your own opinion?

Oh look, another SA nostalgia kiddy who hates IV because it wasn't SA 2. IV was an objectively good game, you can go ahead and make any bs reason otherwise, you're automatically wrong.

Oh and IV worst in the series? Go back and play the games pre-and up to III. Then try saying it's the worst.
