What's the difference between that and a DUI?

My Sooners will be a darkhorse heading into the next few weeks. We win out, and we should be a playoff contender no doubt... especially if Baylor or TCU are still a top 5 team.

Well, the laws are different in Ohio.

Ohio law no longer uses the DUI and DWI acronyms because, in 1982, Ohio enacted a law that refers to driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs as “OMVI,” an acronym for Operating a Motor Vehicle Impaired.

Because a more recent change in Ohio law removed the requirement that a vehicle must be “motorized,” the current acronym that refers to driving under the influence is “OVI” (Operating a Vehicle Impaired). It is now a crime in Ohio to operate almost any vehicle while impaired. This includes not only motorized “vehicles,” but also, bicycles, horse-drawn carriages and several other types of “vehicles.”

So, nothing really, except you can't be impaired will riding a horse. lols

Alabama? I f*cking hate the SEC. They have so much pull with the media and apparently the comittee... and here I thought this was an improvement over the BCS. I guess every team in the SEC has a "tough schedule" considering they go against each other, so instead of the college playoff I say we call it the SEC Playoff. SEC's best team could have two loses at the end of the year, and I have no doubt they'd get a spot over an undefeated Memphis or 1 loss big 12 team.

There will never be a cinderella team in the playoff, this "selection committee" will never allow that. We need a 10 team playoff, with the top 2 teams getting a bye the first round.

I'd consider last year's Ohio State team a cinderella team. You are right, the playoff needs to be expanded.

I've been wanting a six team playoff for a while now.

When it's all said and done, I doubt that there will be 2 SEC teams in the final four. Even though it gets a lot of love, the SEC is probably the best conference this year. Not the deepest, but likely the best. Having said that, for two SEC teams to get in the final four, it would have to take Alabama beating LSU, and then having both teams win out the rest of their games, in addition to some stunning cannibalization in the other Power Five front-running conferences.

When it's all said and done? I'm projecting the following:

1. LSU (undefeated)

2. Ohio State (undefeated)

3. Clemson (1 loss)

4. TCU (undefeated)

I'm hoping OU wins out, and our opponents (Ok State, Baylor and TCU) are ranked highly so we can make the playoff. If not, I'd like to see TCU make the playoff, I think Baylor will be exposed without Seth Russell, and Ok State just isn't that good.

I just wish OU, OSU and Texas would wise up and move to the SEC. Big 12 is easily the most stupidly ran conference in college football.

As long as they don't have a conference championship game, other teams will get that bump during CC week. And as long as they only have 10 teams, they can't split to form a two-division conference.

Unless they add more teams, the Big 12 is f*cked.

We've had chances to get teams, BYU, Louisville and Houston were a few colleges given serious consideration to join the Big 12, but no one never pulled the trigger. I understand how it works, which is why I stated Big 12 is ran by a bunch of idiots.

On the hoof, it feels like BYU and Louisville would be good gets (in terms of both football and men's hoops). BYU definitely has the academic chops. UL and UH aren't totally outstanding in that arena, but they're far from chopped liver. I mean, it's not like they're Fresno State or anything.

at least Fresno is a Cali university, I'd be happy to see something like that in the Big 12. I hope if they don't bring in a few teams to create the conference championship game, then the big name schools (at least OU/Texas) need to move on... especially if ee can't get any love from the playoff committee.

Not so long ago, Texas flirted with the joining the Pac-12 (or Pac-10, as it used to be). But basically, they only did that for leverage to get a monster slice of the Big-12 network's media deal.

That sh*t is even more disappointing than the loss. Last game at the Shoe and you chose not to go out with class....

Tha'll bite him in the ass in the pros..Especially since the Browns are a prime candidate to grab him. Way to think ahead, Zeke.

  • 4 weeks later...

I called it some time ago. OU wins out, we'll make the playoff, and the biggest one... Baker Mayfield is a stud. How he got ousted out of the Heisman is completely ludicrious. How Derrick Henry won it over Christain McCaffery is insane, and how DeShaun Watson got more votes than Baker Mayfield is simply baffling.

Samaje Perine had better looking stats last year than Henry this year. The voters mentality for the Heisman is just too stupid for me now-a-days.

I see a OU/Alabama National Title, with, of course, the Sooners winning.

How Derrick Henry won it over Christain McCaffery is insane,

It's not *that* surprising. I mean, Stanford had a sh*t load of night games on the Pacific coast this year (7 of 13), so most of the east coast voters never really saw him play (save for the Pac-12 title game, which is probably the only reason why he got as many votes as he did). Especially when he went berserk versus UCLA (370 all purpose yards and 4 TDs vs what people believed at the time to be a premier national defense).

Plus, east coast/southern voters aren't objective. Unless it's a QB from USC (or, now Oregon, I suppose), the west coast players aren't getting the votes. Much less a white running back from Stanford (see: Gerhart, Toby).

Totally f*cked up, but I'm not shocked in the least.

Christain McCaffery broke, arguably, the greatest NCAA (and NFL) RB of all time's record in all purpose yards in a single season.... while his son is backing him up. To me and you it's not surprising, but good god, whats the logic behind the votes?

Henry for SEC?

Watson for... undefeated season?

I was hoping someone would shed light on the logic, not say stuff I already know. Oh well, I guess here on out if you get in the top 3 all-time single season rushing list in the SEC your an automatic shoe-in for the Heisman.

That's why you don't pay the Heisman any mind. Great award for the player, but there is so many factors and BS rooted in it.

I have no right to say this, but Ohio State probably had the best chance at beating Alabama.

Too bad they got their heads stuck up their ass.

Still rooting for you though, Sparty.
