I think it's time to stop trying to recreate the 80's in movie form. For god's sake, do we need a new Ghostbusters, Indiana Jones, TMNT, Transformers, Miami Vice, Goonies or Breakfast Club?

Same issue though. Instead of trying to relive a great cinimatic time, why not... make a new one?? I mean, this is the Golden Age of Television, the Golden Age of Super Hero Movies... there isn't enough there to draw from? We need to make Goonies 2, reboot Indy (after JUST making the worst entry in the series) and do a new Turtles?

The sequels aren't and the new one seems to be taking most of its inspiration from the second film which is the most acclaimed one in the series.

 

None of them even speak with an Australian accent!

Personally don't find that too important. The action and crazyness looks spot-on and the director(who also did the originals) said that most of the special effects will be practical which is a very good thing.

 

But lets get back on topic now.

The way producers and directors milk their great franchises from their golden years is awful. And the sequels/reboots end up being terrible and pissing off the fans of the original. This is also something horror movie producers can't quite get their head around. Some things are just better left alone.

Another annoying issue is this unjustified necessity to remake classics and turn them into absolute wankfests. Alfie, Get Carter, Nightmare on Elm Street, Alice in Wonderland, The War of The Worlds, The Time Machine, Planet of The Apes. FFS, STOP!

One final complaint: Tim Burton needs to get his sh*t straight. He's become a complete parody of himself. Oh, and Johnny Depp... will someone please tell him that playing essentially the same flamboyant, eccentric character in different face paints does not constitute acting diversity or method acting?
The guy is a decent actor, but he got too caught up in this human cartoon bullsh*t and it's getting waaay out of control now. /rant

I think the American blog-o-sphere would implode if they made a "Dirty Dozen" remake, set in the US, but all the actors used british accents.

There is CGI too, but it doesn't seem like they're over-using it like Michael Bay. And the villain is played by the same guy who played Toecutter in the original and there might be other side characters who are australian if that helps. I admit that the lack of those accents may make it lose a bit of its charm, but I don't think the concept of Mad Max was ever something that was devoted to one country. And it's never been about continuity either. It's just not really something I'm worried about personally, but you can be if you want.

 

I agree that in general Hollywood puts out way too many sh*tty re-boots these days. But to me Mad Max: Fury Road looks like it could be an exception. That's my opinion and you don't have to agree.

Under the "Likes" tab on your profile you can change from "Received" to "Given". If there are 15 on each page and you have 629 pages I'd say you have given out about 9500 likes

If it makes you feel any better i have arrived on minor fender bender accidents to find one of the drivers wailing.

 

What happened? What caused the accident? What kind of car was it?
