Absolutely. Even if it's just there and doesn't function, it'd be awesome for staging our own online races. I'm hoping theres an actual race track in the game. I loved racing faggios around the gokart track in gtaIV but it would have been nice if it was big enough for real cars/motorcycles. I'm pretty sure we're going to get some sort of track, along with the return of hotring racers. I feel as though its safe to say that demolition derbys, hotring racing and very possibly sanchez trials (like the ones in GTA:SA) will be in the game. We already know there will be outdoor sanchez and atv races.

An amazing use of ingame real estate! Especially considering that modding cars will be much more customizable this time we definitely need a way to measure how much faster my car is going to be over all of yours!

It'd definitely be sweet to have a dragstrip. Especially with the modded performance oriented cars.

 

As far as it being a waste if space... Come on. GTAV is going to be huge. It's 2 lanes of a 1/4 mile track. Maybe a set I of bleachers on the sides.

And an airport is not a real dragstrip.

 

It's literally a road, some bleachers, and a light. Stick it in the middle of the goddamn desert even. It's not that much to make and you might as well have something in all those flat plains.

As long as it is works (not just a strip of tarmac - I mean that you can actually set a time - see your reaction time and total time + speed.

 

It could be a great mini game - Pressing buttons at exact times to shift etc....

 

this way you can see what the car mods have done to the car by seeing how much faster it is.

I just hope they put some where to race our cars other then the streets because I don't feel like spending time making cars racing and going head on with a tractor trailer. I just want some type of closed course I don't even car if it's dirt

That one doesn't exist any more.. game is set in 2012 or 2013 and that was demolished in 2007.

 

Anyway.. as someone said: Airport. Or just city streets. I love having a challenge of avoiding pedestrian cars.

the thing missing about zipping around at the airport is being able to compare a car or time with another's -- for all the airport provides, any empty highway will do, and i expect there is going to be a streetracing minigame or set of repeatable "race" missions.

 

like post above avoiding ped cars is fun element in racing GTA ^^ (that's why i like stoopid traffic cutting in front of me, haters.)

 

i'm a fan of any way in GTA we can get hard numbers to compare the speed & acceleration of cars in-game. the butt dyno on car modification isn't really gonna do it for me.

They said that you can over tune your cars - so maybe its not a question of maxing out every modification - but getting the balance right. This way all cars could be tuned in a slight different way - making it more fun than just tuning out the fastest car available.

Maybe a small car with a big turbo / light weight. would get a good time. or even a 1000hp 4x4 like the Arabs use in the desert.

If I can tune my car, I'll need to test it. If I'm going to test it, I'm going to want to test it against my friends. Give me a strip. Give me a light. Give me a time that I can rib on people's faces. I don't need it.to be downtown. Just a patch of uninterrupted road with a timer running.

 

For all of you who say that's what the airport is for, I remind you that its going to suck pretty bad when you've spent all that hard earned money to tune that car, just to have some douche in a buzzard lay waste to it on the starting line. Out of all the real estate on the map, two lanes side by each for a quarter mile won't hurt anything. And just think - a nicely measured quarter mile would help those in the mapping threads tremendously.

i tried that in IV. and a plane turned into the path and mullered my superGT.

 

gutted.
