My game crashes when I enter the airport and get close to where the helicopters spawn. The dodo is fine though. I'll try it on a clean game now.

III/VC output an "Exception at address" little box when crashing, can you read the address and post it?

 

Manual Installation hasn't been thoroughly tested, but I spawned a helicopter and flied around for a while - everything seemed alright.

 

EDIT:

Doublecheck if your game version is 1.0 - I didn't want to keep the mod unreleased any more, so I didn't add 1.1/Steam support yet. That'll hopefully come soon.

 

 

EDIT2:

HOLD ON, THERE IS AN ISSUE IN ONE SPAWNER CODE, WILL REUPLOAD BOTH PACKAGES AS SOON AS POSSIBLE:

Pretty sure its 1.0, every other ASI/Cleo mods works perfectly. I installed with the assisted .rar too.

 

-EDIT- Just seen your edit. Nevermind.

But let's say that III viewed from above doesn't look so good, lot of bad/missing textures for the rooftops.

Hmmmm, weird. I'm still crashing when I'm at a certain point at the airport.

 

-EDIT- I got three stars and the police helicopter was also the same as the default game.

 

-EDIT2- Nevermind fixed it. Apparently it was my exe.

Thanks to this mod now we know why Rockstar removed the top down view in Vice City, draw distance starts to kick in when you are flying, even more when you are really high, the helicopters seem to bobble a lot as in, you can really flip your helicopter upside down in the air easily (might do a video of that later)

 

I used the assisted method to install the mod

 

bugs so far that I have noticed:

 

· The Hunter rotorblades have alpha issues (they can look square sometimes)

· I don't know if this is a problem on my end but the LODs for the helicopter models seem to have texture issues (they are grey)

· This is a minor thing but in my save I have not unlocked Shoreside Vale yet, and yet.. the LCPD maverick is up there in the Police building letting me reach Shoreside Vale before even completing "A drop in the ocean" same goes for the Hunter

 

 

-annoyances

 

I like to use W and S to thrust a plane/helicopter up and down, and Q and E to move to the left or the right, when I bind things to work this way it also unbinds Q/E/W/S from other things, such as vehicle binds, so when I have this setup I'm unable to drive vehicles with W A S D and I'm also unable to look to the left or the right with Q and E on a vehicle, and thus, unable to driveby.

 

(tl;dr: you can't bind the same keys for helicopter and vehicle controls, while i'm sure that you can do it in Vice City, could this be fixable?)

 

 

other than that amazing work on the mod, this is easily one of the "must install" gta 3 mods out there nowadays along with 13AG's WS fix and the xbox mod.

Where do you find the Skimmer and News Chopper? And how do you get the LCPD Heli without another aircraft? I can't enter the building that it's on top of.

Wow! I Just downloaded the modification and tried it out. So awesome. The Maverick could fly a bit faster. Don't you think? It's really slow.. Or maybe i don't know how to fly this thing properly ^^.

I also like the new added Planes. Nice work Silent!

Loads now, but game keeps crashing randomly. Can't play for over 30 seconds.

 

EDIT: Fixed! This mod is amazing. My only concern is that some of the helicopters are somewhat slow, since they don't pitch forward enough. Still, this is a fantastic mod.

I also like the new added Planes. Nice work Silent!

The other issue with heli's in this is they kinda fly like the Skylift in TBOGT.

 

If you tilt forward, and use the increase altitude button, you still increase. You can't tilt far enough forward to not gain altitude well flying forward. Now SA and IV are a little more limited as to how far you can tilt well using the increase altitude button. But normally when you do that, the heli should ether stay level, or even better yet, drift down slightly, so you have to adjust your tilt to keep the same altitude.

 

Edit: I'm interested in the compression of the txd's you mentioned in the read me for the Steam version. Is it any different on VC and SA? Does it look different inside the files?

 

Edit: Found a little mistake on the full wing Dodo. the flap texture doesn't extend out as far as it should. Here is a pic so you can see what I mean.

When your in the Skimmer, and a boat where Claude is supposed to be sitting down, he has the standing animation.

Nope. They're really slow. The only way to change them now would be to edit the handling for them until Silent changes them.

Indeed, I have no idea what caused LOD issues. Hunter blades does not seem relevant though.

Done deliberately, so people can enjoy the mod straight away, without having to beat missions.

There is one helicopter in Portland too... smile.gif

Unfortunately not. I recommend trying a pad if you have one though smile.gif

Again, done deliberately. Maverick's handling is taken from original III values, so that's how a proper III helicopter is flying. I decided not to copy VC handlings as the aim of this mod is to give III-styled helis, not to port VC helis to III.

On the other hand, that's why handling.cfg has flying handling data inside. You can play around with the values (taking lines straight from VC is a bad idea though, remember these physics are somewhat beta VC physics).

Steam txd.img has uncompressed textures inside.

Not a bug at all, Claude stands in all III boats, even in Speeder (when he has a seat)!

Oh indeed. Mistakenly duplicated default.ide name. Yes, it goes to handling.cfg.

 

Will fix it in a future release (if one comes).

 

EDIT:

 

Obviously, Step 4 refers to carcols.dat. That's how writing stuff at 2AM usually ends dozingoff.gif

CLEO just handles the spawning of the vehicles and disabling the main threads that deal with insane and unique jumps. Most of the work is done by the asi. And you can use the steam version which doesn't have CLEO and put that into the main.scm directly.

I'm not going to integrate spawnpoints into the ASI. You could port the code over to main.scm, as CLEO script is open source.
