Okey I Downloaded the this mod and I Use the GTA III Police Stories but during head to the Airport, The Unhandled Exception will occurred.

What I'm personally hoping for is 1.1 support, since most of us (who use limit adjusters) are not able to go with 1.0. Which is why I added VC helicopters & non-functional skimmer to my Vice-2-GTAIII modpack, it looks identical to III Aircraft mod in-game, but uses completely different approach & solution to getting Claude airborne :)

My helicopters spawn weird. Yes, I know it is v1.1 on Steam and it is not supported since Silent never updated this mod since 2013, but can someone help me?

 

Lemme describe the problem.

After I did the manual install since the assisted install doesn't work, the helicopters "spawn" but they're floating, has weird propellers, no animation for doors, and if I enter them or blow them up, it crashes the game. This also happens with the planes. The full winged dodo doesn't have wheels but the Biplane does, and if i try to spawn a Skimmer, the game crashes altogether. If it's unfixable due to it being that incompatable, then how do I downgrade my Steam version? Please respond.

You can simply find a 1.0 No-CD somewhere, it is the only difference between Retail and Steam versions. Either it's by MYTH or by DEViANCE, it doesn't seem to matter.

@Silent i don't know if someone mentioned this before but why there's LCPD helicopter spawning in Garage lot

 

Times are tough, the LCPD can only afford 1 helipad in the entire city afterall.

It's a widely-known game bug. It's not the mod's problem. Sometimes (very rarely) you can see vehicles with "ignore" flag at that carpark (gang cars or police car for ex. since they're controlled by SCM). As a side effect you can see all cars with that flag.

EDIT: I noticed that GTA III/VC's XBOX deaddodo actually has nice "HQ" wings, so i used this instead :D

I can't believe that no one requested a XBOX dodod yet. Unfortunately neo was too lazy to "remaster" the aircrafts in VC.

Here's the original VC chopper (Police Maverick) for GTA III, this one fits better as the LCS styled polmav which has black invisible windows. (XBOX Version uses the same model)DOWNLOAD

But that's not what I'm going to say.

Today I've found out that III aircraft's plugin break vehicle shadow rendering. In the clean game vehicle shadows appear with fading and they all have the same gray color.

But with aircraft.asi car shadows appear suddenly instead of fade out and every car shadow has different color - it could be almost black, or just invisible.

 

Here are some screens but of course the best way to notice this - is a video, but I'm lazy to updoad it, etc.:

Same thing with the Ghost boat converted straight from PS2, is some kind of fix and bug at the same time. :p

Credits goes to Mugetsuga, he discovered this a week ago.

The dashboard and the console is the only difference I can see. Doesn't hurt to have a proper one TBH. :p

That is the difference, I suppose. The fake shadow that obscures the interior doesn't draw properly. The model is the same, if I understood correctly.

Who knows, maybe it's something related to fixing aircraft shadows to match collision. AFAIR if you spawn police chopper in clean game you'll get invisible model with giant square shadow (maybe it was a dream or I tried that 10+ years ago), so maybe those square shadows could be on every other new aircraft instead of heli/plane shape without some fix. Anyway only Silent knows more :)

This might be completely off-topic. I'm guessing you must have used a similar method Rockstar Games used when making Vice City. They improved and changed things in GTA III rather than start from scratch hence why you often saw a lot of GTA III stuff in Vice City beta images. Anyway..

 

Will you be working on any other improvements to GTA III? Adding bikes and their unique handling and physics would be cool.

I aint Silent, but I highly doubt it. IIRC, unlike bikes, the aircraft stuff was already implemented in III to the point where he was able to get it working. I remember there were mentions of bikes in the executable, but if Silent was up do implement them as well, he would've got to code the whole thing from the ground up.
