Nice to see that after so much time someone found a way to make flyable helicopters, planes etc. in GTA 3 working.

 

However, due to the fact Vice City was developed at around the same time as III, some code got mixed up.

If it so, is there a way to make motorbikes like PCJ also available?

Unlikely. There's only like one bike-related function left in the EXE. And that's not probably VC function.

 

Also, the code mixup thing is only an assumption. That didn't have to be an actual reason aircraft code is left.

I think there's no ceiling limit in GTA III.

There is, but the limit is pretty high. Not worth cracking.

Damn. Sounds are a bit problematic. We don't want helicopters to use Dodo sound, do we? tounge.gif

How about using the empty spaces in sfx.raw? Or this can't be done?

I want to use III sounds, without adding - Escape helicopter for all my helicopters and Dodo for planes.

That took ages, but I've rewritten helicopter audio handling from scratch and it turned out to be pretty nice! Obviously, it's not as natural and complex as VC, but I think it's still very nice smile.gif

 

Decided to make a longer footage due to that, so enjoy the flight!

Interesting. I noticed you have the Skimmer in the water. Does the fully flyable plane id act like a sea plane?

 

I was wondering if you could add a full wing Dodo at the airport.

 

Edit: Also I'd like to see this on GTA III 10th Anniversary Edition. For that, hope you can edit the handling so when you fly sideways it also rotates the heli.

It's an ASI mod, so pretty unlikely. I do more than just editing data files.

 

Fully winged Dodo is planned, no worries.

What is your heli ID? Because 155 and 159 fly when going backward and acts weird while shift (horn) is pressed. mercie_blink.gif

Yes, these are 2 heli IDs, but the code was buggy and you never could take off. I fixed it.

 

I plan to add more than 2 helicopters though, so I won't stick to these IDs.

planes like full winged dodo and Skimmer should have dodo sound and planes like shamal should have air train sound (that big plane).

They've been cut from SA due to possible RenderWare bug. Since the code implies a deliberate cut by Rockstar, something must have happened they COULDN'T fix - RenderWare bug would be one of the reasons (since they didn't have RW source code, a bug in Criterion's binaries couldn't be corrected by them).
