So I just saw the crappy trailer for the Definitive Edition of sleeping dogs coming out for the PS4/XBone, and now I laugh cause it is going to compete with GTA V and I don't think that is wise. However I could care less about the sales, what I'm interested in is the graphics and other game features that will change. Now what I'm most interested is what we can expect and what I'm expecting is the same changes as GTA V and Tomb Raider Remastered Editions, which means sharper textures, better lighting, denser populations, and hopefully cool particle effects. What do you guys think, is a upgraded Sleeping Dogs worth it, I don't really think so cause personally sleeping dogs felt to awkward and the guns were crap along with the story.

They're trying the same strategy twice and hoping for different results ?

Loved this game.

That Definitive trailer reminded me of The Raid 2. Which is pretty much 98% Sleeping Dogs.

Maybe the director could make a movie adaption of SD.

I'll get the Definitive Edition. I have the game, but almost none of the DLC. And I've been thinking about replaying it. Might as well wait for this.

Hopefully they'll refine keyboard and mouse controls further.

@Johan

I am not saying anything bad about TLoU Remastered now am i? :D i was just trying to saying it like SD:DE with nm big changes or upgrades with the exception of it being Linear unlike SD :p;)

Except TLOU was upgraded, not just up scaled. Get your facts straight.

Am I the only one here scratching their head, wondering why they used footage from a film used to promote Sleeping Dogs pre-release for the next generation trailer?

Have you watch the Metro Redux trailer? Go watch it and tell me how is looks upgraded than a game that only had 1080p and 60fps enhanced and both are horrors btw ;)

So you think the only thing that changed from TLOU and TLOU:R is resolution and framerate? Lmao.

^from what i have seen on Digitalfoundry and IGN,i will say YES it only Resolution and Framerate enhancements and that the same thing SD:DE is doing ;)

Note:After seeing Metro Redux,i just reconsidered to not buy TLoU Remastered again, plus i have watched every walkthrough of the game both the original (last year) and the Remastered...I will keep the money for GTA5, Metro Redux and maybe SD:DE (cus i traded the LG version in just a week of buying it,never liked it with the exception of the fighting).

I liked the story and the environment. Wei Shen is definitely one of my favorite game characters. I liked the gameplay, especially the melee combat. Driving feels horrible and unrealistic; it's like driving in Saints Row IV. Free roam isn't that great because it seems too limited, so if you're going to play it, make sure your emphasis is on the story. It would have worked just fine as a close-world game, but maybe it wouldn't have the appeal it has. After all, it seems as though open world is the way to go for third-person RPGs nowadays.

I've forced Sleeping Dogs on myself a few times and just can't get into it. I always get to the mission where you drive to the arcade or whatever and then I just stop playing. I must have about 5 attempts at playing it.

Yet...I'll pick it up for the X1 because...well...I don't know why. I got problems.

Kinda makes me wonder why they called it a "remastered edition" in the first place

Remaster - refers to quality enhancement of sound and/or picture to a previously existing recording

While Sleeping Dogs didn't look bad at all for me (mostly played the PC version) I will still pick up this game on the PS4.

I know why. You need to justify buying the Xbone.

I got this game for free(GWG) and got board fast as f*ck. I was pretty hyped for this game prior to it's release, but it was either this or V.

Then just as I'm getting burned out on V, this pops up on GWG, perfect timing... and such disappointment.

Play GTA5 then play other Openworld Games afterward, then you will see the Wild Difference :p

Believe me, SD would have been equally as disappointing if V never existed.

I actually enjoyed sleeping dogs a lot, the atmosphere was brilliant...whether I buy it again is another story, I probably will though.

The thing is the graphics on that game got outdated real f*cking fast, after finishing that I played some other games and then went back to it and It was so bad, almost unplayable.

The thing is when playing this game is you have to really get into the story. That's what the game relies on to keep you playing. If you aren't invested in it then you will get bored. Sure there are some nice views scattered around the map, collectibles, poker and hacking cameras to spy on drug dealers. Other than that there isn't much outside the story to do. So don't go into the game expecting to fly planes or helicopters. And don't expect a gta type open world. You'll enjoy the game a lot more if you do that.

With that said I did enjoy the game. It does quite a few things well. The Melee combat is some of the best I've ever played in a game. And the story was entertaining enough to keep me interested.

Pros:

- Story
- Melee combat
- Art direction

Cons:

- Driving
- Not much replayability after story
- Map feels repetitive

It not an upgrade or anything, according to IGN and Gamespot it just them upscaling the game to 1080p with the additions of every dlcs just like **cough** The Last of Us **cough**

Why oh why are you still on these forums? The day you are banned will be the happiest day of my life. Yet again... you are completely WRONG!

“We’re giving old and new fans a lot reasons to pick up the game, as we’ve gone beyond just increasing resolution and running at 1080p," said senior producer Dan Sochan. "We listened to the fans: we tuned gameplay, we added to the ambience of Hong Kong, increased audio fidelity and pushed the visuals further than we could on the previous generation of consoles.”

Please never come back to these forums again.

I still prefer True Crime: NY over Sleeping Dogs. Loved planting evidence on people, responding to awesome dispatch calls, etc.

This is why I don't play it anymore. Yeah, it's a great game, but not worth going on unless you still wanna finish the oddjobs.

That would of been a Really good game if it was not for the Horribly Clunky/Buggy gameplay It would of been a better game than San Andreas if it was More Polished IMO But sleeping Dogs ? Well i have to Disagree.

I loved this game back in 2012. I'm definitely looking forward to buying the HD version as well.

Anyone had the chance to play the Definitive Edition yet? It's out near me now, so wondering if I should pick it up. Never played it, and it's only around £30 which seems like a good deal.
