I used to pirate my games until I've opened my eyes more, I mean, everyone here pirated something, and if you say otherwise it's a lie, even if it is a small song or whatever.

I will support Rockstar of course by buying only ONE copy and that is for PC, I don't see the reason for more than a copy, unless like you stated, for PS3 and then for PC.

 

But every console gamer is flipping their sh*t as if only PC is pirated. Look at my damn country, 95% of the consoles are pirated.

When you compare Console piracy to PC piracy, The console end isn't even remotely close to how bad it is on PC.

You're forgetting about Middle Eastern countries and alike, there are at least 5 million consoles around here, which of, assuming by what I've seen so far, more than 3.5 million are pirated.

 

So, 3.5mil * $~100 = ~$350.000.000 are lost. It isn't a small amount now, is it?

It's true, Consoles aren't as widely pirated as PCs, and this is coming from someone who did "crack" his Xbox 360, because of two things.

 

1. The need to implement some hardware manually in the console in order to be able to read ripped games. You don't actually need to do that with PC's

2. The fact that both Sony and Microsoft have a Zero Tolerance policy towards piracy and are known to lock modded consoles from online. Again, no such mesures on PC's.

 

Also Sleepy, with all due respect, the Middle East isn't really considered a Market for consoles because as you said, 97% of them are pirated.

BUT, if companies advertised their games better in these areas and took care of the marketing here, it'd really be of great profit for them. It's due to the high prices that people prefer to pirate, it's due to the sh*tty treatment they get here.

 

I'd gladly purchase a game if it was $30-40, but I won't pay $100 when the avg. salary is $400. It's a no no, there are other priorities in life.

Also, if PC piracy was as high as you guys make it out to be, then no developer would develop for PC anymore. But yet they do?

There are paying PC customers, of course, but their numbers aren't as big as the consoles, at least for games like GTA.

If they're planning to have a PC version in the future I'm sure it's all set, they don't need to find 250,000 PC gamer's signatures to persuade them.

You're only counting retail sales, not Steam sales too, and if you're counting Steam sales, I'd love a source from Steam themselves with the number of sales.

Yeah, this is a problem in these kind of arguments - VGChartz seems to be massively inaccurate in a lot of cases. I was basing my observation on a look at Take-Two financial reports since 2005. As far as I understand these kind of things, the percentage of revenue from PC sales for Take-Two - i.e. 2K and Rockstar - is much less than consoles - at the very best, it's half that of consoles.

Half of what consoles sold? Honestly I doubt it, but even if that is the case I think it's quite good for a full of problems game with over half an year sold as new.

why does everyone count pirated copies as company's 'lost' money? if there are 1 million of copies pirated it does not mean there is a loss of 1 million * game price. Most of people who pirate sh*t out of every PC games won't just go and buy it if it's impossible to pirate, that being said if there was no piracy I think the profit change would be maybe 20% bigger but nothing much beyond that.

By the same token, you can't say that a pirated copy isn't a lost sale. Short of using a time machine and/or mind-reading device to see if each pirate would've bought the game if things had been different, maybe.

Because they want to appear as victims. Lost revenue argument is for the most part bullsh*t. I pirated IV and EFLC once. And guess what, I bought both IV and EFLC twice. I would buy just as few games if piracy didn't exist.

Don't really understand why the petition exists. It's not like they are staunchly against making a PC version. Maybe you folks can get them to release info about it a little sooner? is that the idea?

If someone can afford an ISP that's fast enough to pirate a game that is big as GTA V, I'm sure they can afford a $70 game.

Now shut the f*ck up and stop accusing every PC gamer a pirate.
