Deffpony
GTA V releases in just under two months now, and before we dive into the sunny city of Los Santos, I think we should give GTA IV a proper send off. In this thread I will post two missions a day sequentially from GTA IV. Each day we will discuss the missions, how we remember playing them, what we liked or didnt like, and how we hope it affects GTA V come September 17th. All videos and walkthrough descriptions are courtesy of our friends at gta4.net. August 14th's Discussion Starts Here July 22 Chapter One The first chapter of Grand Theft Auto IV begins in Broker, Liberty City, where you take missions from Roman Bellic, Little Jacob and a group of hardcore Eastern European characters. During this chapter, Niko reveals his motivations for coming to Liberty City. The Cousins Bellic Niko Bellic arrives on a boat in Liberty City in search of a better life. Niko's cousin, Roman, brought Niko to Liberty City with a bunch of false promises. He claimed to be living there with lots of money, sports cars, women and a mansion. When Roman arrives at the docks to greet his cousin, he's too drunk to drive, so Niko must take the wheel. Once you have control of Niko, drive back to the "mansion" on Mohawk Avenue, Hove Beach, and stop in the yellow marker to trigger the cutscene. Niko is less than impressed with the mansion, to say the very least. Roman has to leave after a quick chat with Niko, but invites him to meet him later at the taxi depot. After the cutscene, various instructions are given on how to save the game and how to store cars at the safehouse. This is your first safehouse, and you can save the game here at any time providing you aren't in the middle of a mission. In the first few missions of the game, pay close attention to the instructions on the screen which tell you how to control Niko and operate basic functions with the cellphone. The cellphone becomes a very important aspect of the gameplay. It's Your Call Roman introduces Niko to his girlfriend, Mallorie. Vlad Glebov then enters the cab depot and warns Roman to pay his debts. After the cutscene, drive Roman to the hardware store on Dillon Street, where Roman is going to try and win some money. The business shut down a long time ago, but some guys still play cards there. Before going into the store, Roman leaves you with his old cellphone and asks you to call him if any Albanians show up in a beige Willard. These are the people he owes money to. Remain stationary in the car and look out for the Albanians. Approximately a minute later, the Albanians show up and park their car on the pavement opposite the hardware store. Access the menu on the cellphone and call Roman to warn him. Roman escapes through the back door of the hardware store, but the loan sharks soon become aware of his presence. Your task is simple - lose the loan sharks and take Roman back to the cab depot to complete the mission. July 23 Three's a Crowd The Albanians you met in the previous mission have arrived at the cab depot to roughen up Roman. Niko arrives and teaches one of them a lesson. The Albanians flee. Roman receives a phone call from Mallorie, who needs a lift at Hove Beach with her friend. Roman asks Niko to do it as a favour to him. Take Roman's cab and pick up the girls at the Hove Beach subway station. Park in the yellow marker and sound the horn to attract the girls' attention. Mallorie introduces you to Michelle, and recommends that the two of you get together some time. Take the girls back to Michelle's apartment on Rotterdam Hill. Michelle seems interested in Niko, and invites you to give her a call sometime. Afterwards, Niko calls Roman to tell him about his date, and asks for some advice on clothes. Get to the Russian clothes shop on Mohawk and buy some new threads. The Albanian loan sharks have Roman cornered. You need to go to Garrett Street and rescue him quickly. When you arrive, a short cutscene will take place, and afterwards you need to beat up Bledar and Kalem. Once the two men are down, approach Roman and a second cutscene will begin. Bleed Out During the cutscene, Roman spots Dardan - another loanshark - trying to make a run for it. Get in Roman's car and chase Dardan. Eventually, he will abandon his car at the Twitchins Sugar Factory near the bridge at Charge Island, so you have to follow him up the stairs and into the factory. Follow the on-screen instructions to disarm Dardan and steal his weapon. Kill Dardan, get back in Roman's car, and then take him back to the depot. During the drive to the depot, Niko tells Roman about a similar problem he had when he was in Europe - a man called Bulgarin believed he owed him money when he didn't, and he was always trying to "squeeze it out of him." Niko says Bulgarin is one of the main reasons he moved to Liberty City - he wants revenge. July 24 First Date In the cutscene, Niko suggests going to the carnival, but the carnival is currently closed because they're turning it into "some Las Venturas-style theme park." Go bowling instead, and play a 5 frame game with Michelle. This particular game is free, but in future they won't be. Once the game is over, get in Michelle's car and take her back to her apartment on Rotterdam Hill, to complete the mission. Easy Fare Vlad is at the depot waiting for his money, but Roman isn't present. While Roman is away, Vlad tries to persuade Mallorie to leave Roman and go with him instead. Niko and Roman arrive, and Roman reveals that he still doesn't have the money he owes to Vlad. He tells Vlad what Niko did to the Albanians, and Vlad says that as long as Roman doesn't pay, he will need to do some favours for him. Meanwhile one of Roman's regular customers, Jermaine, needs to be picked up. Get in Roman's car and pickup Jermaine at Rotterdam Hill. Jermaine wants you to take him to Masterson Street. Park in the yellow marker in the alley when you arrive, and some cops will show up. Drive out of the alley and lose your wanted level, paying close attention to the flashing circles on the radar. You need to stay outside of the circles for a few seconds without being seen by the cops in order to evade the wanted level. Once the stars are gone, take Jermaine to Gibson Street, where you'll be shown how to use the Pay 'n' Spray feature. July 25 Bull in a China Shop In the cutscene, Vlad states that he isn't a man to be messed with. He is angry because some old man who runs a china shop in Dukes hasn't paid him in months. He wants Niko to go to the shop on Camden Avenue, and scare the old man into paying his debts. Walk into the yellow marker outside the shop, and watch the cutscene which follows. The man refuses to pay the protection money, and tells Niko to go away. Go around the corner and pick up a brick (which is represented by a green blip on the radar) which you can then use to throw through the shop window, to indicate that you mean business. Make sure you are throwing at the window and not at the door, because the door will not break! To finish the mission, take Vlad's money back to him at the Comrades Bar on Hove Beach. Hung Out to Dry Vlad is on the phone to Mallorie, and after the call Niko warns him to stay away from her. Vlad says that after the last incident at the china shop, somebody else is refusing to pay protection money. This time it's a guy at a laundromat on Masterson street, so Vlad wants Niko to do the same thing again and scare him into paying the cash. Enter the laundromat and the man will try to escape. Follow him through the back door and hotwire the car that is parked outside. Chase the shop keeper and ram his van until it stops. Eventually he surrenders, and agrees to pay Vlad the money. Niko calls Vlad to confirm that the situation has been dealt with. Vlad tells you to meet him back at the bar for some more work later on. July 26 Clean Getaway During the cutscene, Vlad invites Niko to go for a walk with him. He's unhappy that Roman hasn't paid him his money yet. Vlad snorts some coke (given to him by someone called Mikhail) before going on to describe the details of your mission. Vlad needs you to get a car that is parked in the projects by E.I.C. subway station in Dukes. It's a silver Blista. Get to the subway station and wait for the train to arrive. Steal the silver Blista Compact at the destination, and make a getaway before the two people can stop you. Niko calls Vlad to inform him that the car has been successfully stolen. Since the car is dirty, you need to take it to the car wash on Tutelo Avenue, before taking it to the lockup on Tulsa Street. Drive Jimmy's car into the garage to complete the mission, and then call Vlad to inform him of the situation. Ivan the Not So Terrible Vlad reveals that someone called "Ivan" is planning to rob Roman at the taxi depot. Vlad set this up so that Niko can kill Ivan (because he has angered Mikhail, Vlad's boss) and say that the death was due to a failed robbery. You need to go to Roman's taxi depot and intercept Ivan. By the time you get to the depot, Ivan is already making an escape. Chase him down and make sure you don't lose him. Eventually he stops the car, and escapes into a construction site on Kid Street. Use the ladders to chase him through the construction site, and then jump across the rooftops until he reaches a dead end. At this point you have a choice - you can either kill Ivan or choose to save him. If you decide to let Ivan live, he'll give you an extra mission later on in the storyline. Killing him does not prevent you from getting 100%. Niko calls Vlad - regardless of what decision you made - to tell him that Ivan was killed. July 29 Jamaican Heat Roman wants Niko to pick up his friend "Little Jacob" on Oneida Avenue in South Slopes. Park beside Jacob, and sound the horn to attract his attention. Jacob wants you to take him to Schottler and act as protection while a deal goes down. He gives you a pistol and asks you to help "if anything bad goes down." Go to the lookout spot and crouch to stay out of site. This will also make your aim more accurate. Select the pistol, and watch over the deal. Three men arrive and begin shooting at Little Jacob. Kill the three enemies (which are represented by red blips on the radar) and then kill the shootist on the roof to your left. If you aren't familiar with how the combat system works, pay close attention to the instructions on-screen during the mission. Once all the enemies are dead, take Little Jacob back to the Homebrew Cafe and stop in the yellow marker to complete the mission. Uncle Vlad Roman becomes aware that Mallorie has been having an affair with Vlad. Naturally he's upset, and Niko wants to go to the Comrades Bar and deal with him directly. Go with Roman, and look for Vlad at the Comrades Bar in Hove Beach. Roman is reluctant to do anything, because he doesn't want to get himself into any more trouble than he already is. At the bar, Niko warns Vlad once again that he should stay away from Mallorie, but Vlad doesn't care. Kill Vlad's guards (two of them) and then follow him through the back door of the Comrades bar. Get in the car with Roman and begin chasing Vlad. If you let him get away, the mission is failed, so stay close to him and be sure to take the same route that he does. Vlad crashes his car under the Algonquin Bridge, and attempts to escape on foot. Niko tells Roman he's going to "finish it", but once again Roman is reluctant and begs him not to do anything (where would the fun be in that though?). Execute Vlad after the cutscene to complete the mission. After the kill, Niko reveals his motivations for moving to Liberty City. He explains that when he was in the army, they were on a mission to kill a squad that had been killing innocent people, but it was never done because someone betrayed the group. It was a setup, for money. Twelve of the group died, and two (besides Niko) escaped. One of the two survivors lives in Liberty City, and Niko wants to find him. July 30 Concrete Jungle Little Jacob wants to go for a drive. Get in a car, and take him to the apartment block in Willis. Stop in the yellow marker and let Little Jacob get out, then drive to the rear alleyway. You need to waste the three drug dealers who exit the back of the building. The easiest method is simply to run them over. Once the dealers have been eliminated, go back and collect Little Jacob. Now take him to the town house in Meadows Park, and go to the front door and take cover. Kill the drug dealer who comes down the stairs, and then move over to the window. There are three more drug dealers inside, so try to kill as many as you can through the window before moving inside the house. Go inside with Little Jacob and finish off any remaining attackers. There's a first aid kit on the table if you require any health. Finally, take Jacob back to the Homebrew Cafe to complete the mission. Crime and Punishment Roman is hiding in a dumpster because he believes he is being followed. An attacker hits Niko over the back of the head with a gun, and the two cousins are kidnapped and taken to "the boss". Two new characters, Andrei and Dimitri, torture Roman and Niko in Mikhail Faustin's basement, in order to get them to talk. They demand to know who Niko is working for, but Niko refuses to give a serious answer. Faustin comes down and shoots Andrei unexpectedly, and then shoots Roman in the stomach in order to keep him quiet. He agrees with Niko that Vlad was an asshole, and asks Niko to do some work for him. The only reason Faustin wanted Vlad around is because he was "f*cking his sister," apparently. Dimitri tells Faustin they "have a buyer for the TVs." After the cutscene, bring up the cellphone and dial 911. When the cops arrive, steal their car and lose the one-star wanted level. Niko calls Dimitri for further instructions - there are three vans in the area, and you need to find them and pull them over before they reach their destinations. One of these vans has the TVs that Faustin wants, and you need to find out which one it is. Pull over each van separately, and approach the driver at the window. The driver will get out and show you what's in the back of the van. Once you have located the van with the TVs, pull it over and one of the drivers will start shooting. Steal the van and take it to the lockup on Concord Avenue to complete the mission. Afterwards, Niko calls Dimitri to inform him that the mission was successful. He then invites you back to Faustin's home for some more work. July 31 Do You Have Protection? Faustin is snorting coke, and he's becoming dillusional as a result of it. He's angry because Dimitri treats him like a little child, and he's determined to do everything his own way. Dimitri says that him and Niko are ready to go and "deal with that guy." After the cutscene, take Dimitri to the sex shop on Delaware Avenue. Some guy has been making porno in his basement and he didn't pay Mikhail his cut, so Mikhail wants him dead. Dimitri is going to ignore Faustin's demands and simply give the guy a scare so they can benefit from the profits of the films. Stop in the yellow marker outside the sex shop and go inside. Dimitri threatens to kill Josepth unless he pays Mikhail Faustin his cut. After the cutscene, target Josepth in order to intimidate him. Then target the guy in the middle, and custom aim to shoot him in the leg after he has spoken. Josepth then agrees to pay Faustin his cut, and gives some cash to Dimitri to give to Mikhail. Leave the sex shop and take Dimitri to the gun store on Dillon Street. Go inside and purchase a Micro-SMG, which will be paid for by Mr. Faustin. Take Dimitri back to Faustin's house to finish the mission. Final Destination Faustin's gang is in trouble. The police have been authorized to tap their phones, and they know about the pot they stole because "too much noise has been made." Faustin thinks there is a rat, and he believes it is Lenny, Dimitri's cousin's boyfriend. Dimitri begs Faustin not to do anything, but Faustin doesn't listen. He asks Niko to go to Guantanmo Avenue in South Bohan and take out Lenny. On the route to South Bohan, slow down at the toll on Charge Island to avoid attracting police attention. Lenny is on the platform at Guantanmo Avenue Station. Go up the stairs and onto the platform, where a short cutscene begins. Lenny tries to make an escape, and his partner begins shooting at you. Kill Lenny's partner and then cross the tracks, being careful to dodge the trains on either side. Lenny gets into a car at the bottom of the stairs. Try to get a few shots in at his tires if possible, then steal a car and begin chasing him. Get close to Lenny and perform a drive-by shooting until his car catches fire. Finish off Lenny to complete the mission. After the kill, Niko calls Dimitri, who says that the boy you killed was Kenny Petrovic's son. According to Dimitri, Petrovic is a dangerous man, and you could now be in very serious trouble! August 1 No Love Lost Faustin is angry because his daughter has turned into "an ungrateful bitch." He wants Niko to go and meet her on Firefly Island, and kill her boyfriend if he is there. Once you arrive at the destination, a cutscene begins. Niko warns the biker away from Mr. Faustin's daughter, but he doesn't seem very happy about it. He states he is going to meet up with his biker buddies and "f*ck you up." Get on the motorcycle and chase the boyfriend. Try to get as many shots in as possible and kill him before he's able to meet up with his biker buddies, otherwise the mission will become a whole lot harder. It would be worth investing in armour and some decent weapons before the mission starts, just incase you aren't able to kill him quick enough. Head over to the weapons store on Dillon Street if necessary. If the biker manages to meet up with his buddies, go for the biker first and make sure he doesn't escape, then focus on his buddies. Niko calls Faustin once the biker is dead to confirm that the job has been done. Shadow Niko gets a rough introduction from 'Badman', Little Jacob's housemate. Some people are selling weed where they aren't supposed to be selling weed, and they aren't giving Badman his cut. He wants Niko to take care of them. Go and find the dealer in South Bohan. Stop in the yellow marker at Wallkill Avenue and watch the cutscene. After the cutscene, follow the dealer to his supplier on foot. Stay behind him and try not to be seen. If you spook the dealer he will begin running, so keep following him into the apartment block, but don't kill him! Roman calls half-way through the mission, so just hang-up when he calls. The dealer and his suppliers are on the top floor of the building. Shoot the lock on the door, and then kill the dealer and his two suppliers inside. Use the wall as cover. Niko calls Jacob to inform him that the dealer and his suppliers are dead. August 2 Loggin On Roman introduces you to Brucie, an eccentric character who is obsessed with physical appearance. You'll meet him later on in the story for some missions. Roman says you need to get online, and tells you to visit the [email protected] internet cafe and setup an email account. Go to the [email protected] cafe on Oneida Avenue, then go inside and talk to the assistant. Access any computer terminal in the cafe, and click on the 'WEB' on the desktop. Click on 'Check Mail' and then open the email from 'Eyefind Web Team'. Reply to this email to active your account. Logout and leave the internet cafe to complete the mission. PhoneRoman calls, and he says that Brucie has a business proposition for you. He's going to email you the names of all the cars that he needs, and you're going to get them for him. Rigged to Blow Faustin isn't home right now, so his wife Ileyna invites Niko inside until Mikhail gets back. Ileyna tells Niko that things didn't used to be the same, and that there was once a time when she and Mikhail were "happy together." Niko then tells her about his own troubles in life, and that he did some "bad things" during the war. Dimitri and Faustin arrive. Faustin wants Niko to find a truck owned by the guy who owes money to him, and then call him once he's got it. The truck is situated at an old factory in Schottler on Montauk Avenue, so go and pick it up. Once you get inside, Niko will call Faustin, who reveals that the truck is filled with explosives. You need to take the truck to South Bohan and park it inside a garage. Be sure to pay the $5 toll on Charge Island to avoid attracting police attention. Park inside the garage and trigger the bomb, and then watch the spectacular explosion which follows. Find a car and get out of the area to complete the mission. Niko will call Faustin to confirm that the job was successful. The Master and The Molotov Dimitri believes that he and Faustin are in big trouble because Niko killed Petrovic's son (in the mission "No Love Lost"). Dimitri now has a dilemna - he can either kill his best friend (in order to make peace with Petrovic) or die. Dimitri wants you to go to Faustin's club (where Faustin will be arriving shortly) and kill him. Be sure to have plenty of weapons (a shotgun would be useful) before starting this mission. Pay a visit to the weapons store on Dillon Street if necessary. Go to the Perestroika club and walk into the yellow marker. Faustin will be seen arriving with his bodyguards. Go inside the club and watch the cutscene. Faustin becomes aware that Dimitri has betrayed him, but he doesn't want to go down without a fight. After the cutscene, kill the two bodyguards, and then find cover. Kill the other guards in the room, and then follow Faustin through the back door. There's another guard waiting behind the door, so be prepared. There is also another guard up ahead. Once the guards have been taken out, go through the double doors where three more of Faustin's men are waiting for you. Again find cover, and eliminate the remaining guards. Follow Faustin onto the roof of the building, where he drops his weapon. Kill Mikhail Faustin to complete the mission. Afterwards, Niko calls Dimitri to confirm that Faustin is dead. Dimitri wants you to collect your money for the hit at a warehouse. PhoneLittle Jacob calls to warn you about the Russians. He offers to assist you when you go to pick up the hit money. Russian Revolution Dimitri invites Niko into the warehouse to collect his money for the hit on Faustin. Not surprisingly though, it's a setup. He says that many years ago, when Niko was smuggling people into Italy, he left a good friend (Mr. Bulgarin) out of pocket. Bulgarin's men surround Niko, and you need to take them out and then escape from the warehouse. Little Jacob will assist you. You need plenty of armour and ammunition before attempting this mission. Something like a shotgun or a Micro-SMG would be useful. Take cover behind anything you can find, and eliminate Bulgarin's men. Take cover at all times - do not run out into the middle of the warehouse unprotected. Some patience is required, because there are a lot of men to kill and it takes a bit of time. Aslong as you have cover you should be okay though. All of Bulgarin's men are represented on the radar by red blips. Some of them are on the upper level of the warehouse, and these targets have arrows on their blips pointing upwards. You may find it useful to blind fire. Eventually, Dimitri and Bulgarin are seen leaving the warehouse. A two-star wanted level is gained, and you need to evade the cops and get Jacob back to the Homebrew cafe. Ignore the cops and head straight for the Virgo that is parked outside. Wait until Little Jacob gets in, and then use the GPS to get back to the cafe. After the mission, call Roman to inform him of the situation. Roman whispers over the phone and asks Niko to "come quickly" to the alleyway off of Hopper Street in EIC. Go and meet Roman to begin the mission "Roman's Sorrow". August 3 Roman's Sorrow Stop in the yellow marker in the alleyway to trigger the cutscene. Roman is hiding in the trunk of his car because he believes his life is at risk - he says people were calling the apartment and then hanging up. Niko informs Roman of the situation with Dimitri and Bulgarin. The cousins agree to move away from Broker and lay low for a while, but first Roman needs to collect some things from his apartment. Drive Roman to his apartment on Hove Beach. When you arrive, you discover that the apartment has been burned down. Now drive Roman to the taxi depot, which you'll discover is also up in flames. Drive with Roman to your new safehouse in Bohan, and meet up there with Mallorie. Mallorie says she knows a bunch of people in Bohan "who may be able to help you out." Chapter TwoYou now have a new safehouse in Bohan, after the last one was burned down by the Russians. Roman says it's time to "start over again." In this chapter, Mallorie introduces you to two of her friends - Manny Escuela and Elizabeta Torres - both of whom provide work for Niko. Algonquin is unlocked after the mission "Blow Your Cover," and Alderney becomes unlocked at the end of the chapter. Escuela of the Streets Mallorie introduces Niko to Manny Escuela, a guy she grew up with. Manny is trying to "clean up the streets," and he's making a video to record his struggle. He wants Niko to help him take out some of the dealers in Bohan. After the cutscene, get in a vehicle with Manny and go to the dealer's place on Grand Boulevard. A cutscene shows the dealer leaving his apartment. Follow him, but don't get too close to him or you will spook him. Stay at least two car lengths behind him until he reaches the destination in South Bohan. Park behind the dealer when he reaches the destination, and follow him over to the warehouse. Manny goes back to pick up Jay (the camera guy) while you're taking care of business. Shoot the lock on the door, and then take cover behind the wall. Take out as many dealers as you can from outside the warehouse before moving inside. There is no time limit here, so you can take as long as you like. There is one dealer immediately to your right inside the warehouse, and several straight ahead. Once you've taken out as many as you can from outside the warehouse, move inside and immediately take cover behind the one of "Redwood" boxes. Take out the remaining dealers inside the warehouse, paying close attention to where they are situated on the radar. Use cover at all times, and watch out for the last dealer behind the pillar in the centre of the warehouse. Leave the warehouse once all the dealers have been eliminated, and watch the cutscene as Manny [quite happily] takes all the credit for your work! August 5 Street Sweeper Manny introduces Niko to Officer McReary, before providing the details of the next mission. The mission is very similar to the previous mission in terms of the main objective (take out some gang dealers) except this time it's a little easier. Go to Windmill Street where the gang members are situated, and run over the two gang members that are standing by the garage. Once you have been spotted, two of the gang members will attempt to escape in a car, so give chase and spray their vehicle with bullets. Aim for the wheels initially, and then finish them off before going back to kill the last remaining gangster at the garage. You can kill him however you like, though running him over is without a doubt the simplest Search and Delete Brucie wants Niko to whack some people for him. After the cutscene, call 911 and press '1' to summon a police car. When the cops arrive, steal their car and lose your wanted level. When you lose the wanted level, Niko will automatically call Brucie for further instructions. Brucie wants you to kill somebody called Lyle Rivas. Stop the police car and access the police computer. Select 'Search Police Records' followed by 'Search By Name' and then use the keyboard to type in 'LYLE RIVAS'. Add his location to the radar, and then exit the police computer. Go to Rivas's house and walk into the yellow marker. During the cutscene, Rivas makes an escape through the bathroom window. Exit the building through the door you came in, and begin chasing Rivas. Shoot his car until it blows up, and then run him over when he attempts to escape on foot. Niko calls August 6 Easy as Can Be According to Brucie, the guy you just killed (Lyle Rivas) had a car "worth stealing," which he left in an alleyway off of Yorktown Avenue in Steinway. Brucie wants you to get it and bring it back to his garage. When you get inside the vehicle, a cutscene begins, and a car containing two of Lyle's associates arrives at the scene. Get the car back to Brucie's garage. The two thugs will chase and shoot you the whole way back. Be careful when turning corners, because the car will get damaged very quickly if they manage to block you. Get the car back to Brucie's garage in one piece to complete the mission. The main objective of the mission is quite simple; the only thing you need to be careful with is your handling of the car. Be patient and slow down when turning corners and you should be fine. The car will [probably] be heavily damaged by the time you get it back to the garage, but that doesn't matter. Out of The Closet Rivas's cousin owes Brucie a lot of money, so he wants Niko to go and take care of him. During the cutscene, Roman creates a profile for Niko on Love Meet, which he's going to use to try and arrange a date with Rivas's cousin. Go to the [email protected] internet cafe, and Niko will automatically call Brucie once he arrives there. Brucie tells you to log on and access love-meet.net, and then search for a guy called French Tom. Go to one of the computer terminals and access the web. Go to love-meet.net and click on the 'males' icon, and then locate French Tom. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the button to arrange a date. You are now free to conduct other business while you wait for French Tom to reply. Once he does reply, Roman will send a text message telling you to check your emails. In the response, French Tom tells you to meet him at the 69th Street Diner on Hove Beach at 18:00, so go there and wait for him. Approach French Tom inside the diner, and Niko will begin talking to him. When you are ready, stand up and eliminate French Tom to complete the mission. August 7 Luck of The Irish Mallorie introduces Niko to Elizabeta, who then introduces Niko to Patrick McReary, a guy she's setting up a deal for. Elizabeta doesn't trust the guys that Patrick will be dealing with, so she wants Niko to act as his "guardian angel" and make sure that nothing goes wrong. The deal is taking place at Joliet Street, and Patrick has left a rifle on the roof of the place next door. Go to the building in South Bohan, and then go up to the roof and collect the sniper rifle that Patrick has left for you. Stay crouched and watch over the deal using the sniper rifle. About 25 seconds after the cutscene, the dealers begin to shoot at Patrick and his associate. Zoom in with the sniper rifle and take out all of the attackers. Take your time with each shot and deal with one person at a time. One of the attackers gets in a tussle with Patrick, so snipe him, and then three more attackers will arrive. Once you have taken out the three attackers, the last attacker will attempt to escape in the van. Snipe him through the windshield to complete the mission. Afterwards, Niko calls Elizabeta to let her know that Patrick is safe. She invites you back to her apartment for more work. Blow Your Cover Elizabeta introduces Niko to Johnny, who is currently sitting on a big pile of heroin. Elizabeta has found a buyer for him, and she wants Niko to oversee the deal and ensure that everything goes okay, so the objective is similar to the previous mission. She also introduces Niko to Playboy X, who's going to be assisting you at the deal. Take Playboy to the contact's apartment, and follow him up to the third floor to meet Johnny. During the cutscene, it becomes apparent that the dealers are infact undercover LCPD officers. Find cover, and take out all of the attackers. Take your time and pick them off one at a time, and then make your way up to the next floor. As you leave the room, there are two officers immediately to your right. Take them out, and then follow Playboy up to the next floor, where more officers are waiting to attack. There is a first aid kit situated on the roof, so collect it if you need it and then use the wall as cover. Take out the two remaining officers, and more will begin to make their way onto the roof. Follow Playboy down the stairs, where another officer is waiting to attack you. Once he is dead, a two-star wanted level appears. Make your way down to the ground floor, but watch out as there are two more officers waiting for you on the stairs. Once you escape from the building, get in the car across the road and lose your wanted level with Playboy. Finally, take Playboy X back to his apartment in Algonquin to complete the mission. August 8 The Puerto Rican Connection In this mission, Manny wants Niko to eliminate some people he used to roll with, who have been "bad-mouthing him" after watching his new film. It seems they weren't impressed. Go to the Algonquin Bridge and stop in the yellow marker facing south. The target you are looking for is on the train, so you need to follow it and eliminate him when he gets off. The chase will lead to Cayuga Avenue in Schottler. Make your way up to the platform and eliminate the three targets. It might be useful to take cover before launching your attack, but if you start with full health and a decent (quick) weapon such as the Micro-SMG then it shouldn't be necessary. The Snow Storm During the cutscene, Elizabeta argues with Little Jacob. She says some people he introduced to her have "ripped her off big time," and she needs Niko to go to the old hospital on Colony Island and get her coke back. The old hospital is heavily guarded by dealers, and you will need to eliminate all of them in order to get to Elizabeta's coke. Once you have the coke, you'll need to escape from the hospital, so it may be a good idea to go to the old hospital before starting the mission to scope it out first. There are multiple approaches to this mission. A good way to start would be to stand well away from the compound, and snipe as many of the dealers as possible before going in. The old hospital is surrounded by metal fencing, and there are two areas of broken fence which you can use to enter the complex - one on the north side and one on the east. You should enter via the north gap and escape using the east gap. Enter the building itself via the doorway on the east side of the building. Take cover at all times and eliminate anyone who attacks you. An SMG in addition to a heavy piece such as the assault rifle is recommended. You'll need plenty of ammo, full health and armour before starting the mission. Take your time, take cover at all times, and eliminate anyone in your path. Be careful when you are going through the main corridor section of the building, as there are attackers on the upper level of the complex as well as on the ground - refer to the radar to see which ones are above you. There are first aid kits located throughout the complex, so keep an eye out for them. The coke is being guarded in a room by two dealers. Waste them, and then pick up the bag of coke. Once you have the coke, N.O.O.S.E will begin to raid the old hospital, and a chopper arrives. Make your way back to the corridor, and go back out exactly the same way you came in. There are two officers waiting to shoot you near the entrance of the building. There is also a further officer waiting outside, who is taking cover behind a burned out vehicle. As mentioned earlier, exit the complex using the gap in the fence on the east side of the building, and then quickly jump into the Humboldt river and use the Jetmax to escape. Once you have shaken the cops off, go back and meet Little Jacob on Spin Street. During the cutscene, Michelle arrives and reveals that she has been working with the government, and that it's "her job" to keep an eye on Niko! She says the cops are ready to take down Elizabeta, and demands that Niko hands over the coke. Ouch. August 9 Have a Heart Elizabeta is becoming paranoid because she knows the police are finally onto her. Manny and Jay soon arrive at the apartment and begin recording a new piece for their film, where they accuse Elizabeta of messing up the streets However, Elizabeta is having none of it, and she shoots both Manny and Jay through the head! She then tells Niko to put the bodies in her car and get rid of them. Elizabeta knows a doctor that will deal with them. Take the bodies of Manny and Jay to the doctor at Dukes Boulevard. 'Natural causes' is his verdict. He says he'll have the organs "out on the streets in no time." Splendid! No. 1 Brucie wants to show off his new car by taking part in a street race, but Lenny (the mechanic) screwed something up, and he now has nothing to race with. Brucie wants Niko to take him to Freetown Avenue in Willis so that you can take Steve's car to the race instead. It's a yellow Comet. Once you have the car, go to the starting point and prepare to race. As long as you don't crash, you should be able to finish first with fairly relative ease. Take it easy at corners, slow down and brake properly otherwise it could cost you the race. The other five drivers aren't exactly great - they tend to crash a lot, so all you need to do (basically) is not crash! Take Brucie home once the race is finished, to complete the mission. August 10 Deconstruction For Beginners Playboy's old friend, Dwayne Forge, just got released from prison, and he is disgruntled that Playboy has moved on and left him behind. Playboy has left some weapons for you in an alleyway at Castle Gardens for the next mission, and he explains the details of the task on the way there. Apparently, the mafia have taken over a construction site belonging to Yusuf Amir, a big real estate developer who Playboy is aiming to impress. Playboy wants you to take out the mobsters guarding the site, and regain control of it for Yusuf. Get in the car in the alleyway to retrieve the weapons (a sniper rifle and grenades) and then walk into the window cleaning platform. Make your way to the top of the building, in order to give you a clear view of the enemy lookouts. Take out the three lookouts (1-3 on diagram) using the sniper rifle, and then take out some of the guards on the ground to make life a little easier when you enter the construction site later. Once you've taken out as many guards as possible, go back to the platform and head into the construction site. You can take the car in and then use it as cover. Take out anybody in your way, and then head towards the first union leader, who is represented by a red blip on the radar. Take cover at all times, and use the grenades to take out multiple enemies at once. There is a first aid kit on the upper level of the construction site, situated at the top of the ramp. Don't move out of cover until you are sure there are no more attackers. Soon, a helicopter arrives with backup for the last remaining union leader. Once again, take cover and eliminate anyone in your way. Kill the last union leader to complete the mission. Ruff Rider During the cutscene, Dwayne explains that he's pissed off at two things. Firstly, he's annoyed that Playboy doesn't want to roll with him anymore (instead he sends Niko) and secondly he's pissed that his girlfriend is ignoring him. His girlfriend has been hanging out with someone called Jayvon, who apparently was responsible for Dwayne going to prison. Niko sympathises with Dwayne because he sees a lot of himself in him. He then offers to take care of Jayvon. Go to the arcade in Chinatown, where Dwayne's girlfriend (Cherise) and Jayvon are hanging out. Jayvon attempts to escape, and you now have the option of executing Cherise or letting her live. If you let her live, you'll meet her again later on in the story, but it's entirely your choice and it doesn't affect your overall game progress. Get on the bike parked at the arcade and begin chasing Jayvon. Shoot him off the bike and make sure he's dead, then pickup the money that he owes to Dwayne. Niko calls Dwayne to arrange a meeting at the Cluckin' Bell in Algonquin, so he can hand over the money. Did you Kill Cherise?? August 11 Undress to Kill Dwayne seems fairly depressed with how things have been going since he got out of prison. He says one of the things he lost was a strip club in Bohan called "The Triangle Club", which was taken over by gangsters after he got sent to jail. Niko promises to take it back for him. Enter the strip club in Bohan, but don't enter with a weapon drawn or security will attack you. There are three managers inside the club, and the first thing you'll need to do is work out who they are. Approach the first two men you see when you enter the strip club, and listen in on their conversation. They will reveal the location of the first manager, Jose, who is in the staff room counting money. Leave Jose for now, and approach the stripper and the man standing beside the stage. The conversation will reveal that the man (Javier) standing next to the stripper is the second manager of the club. Don't kill him yet, instead go to the back room where the third manager is located, so that you now have the locations of all three managers. The locations of the managers should now be highlighted on the radar. Go back to the first manager (Jose) and kill him silently using fists, a baseball bat or a knife, so that you don't attract attention from the security. Jose has a gun, so kill him before he manages to fire a shot in, otherwise security will be alerted. Now approach the second manager who is standing by the stage, and take cover behind one of the tables in the club. Kill him, and then take out the security men who attack you afterwards. Once most of the security people are gone, exit the club and follow the third manager, who attempts to escape in a car. Perform a drive-by shooting and finish him off to complete the mission. Photo Shoot There is a growing tension between Playboy X and Dwayne. Playboy now says that Dwayne is beginning to "get on his nerves." Playboy wants you to eliminate someone who has apparently been bad-mouthing him. He hangs out with his team at the basketball courts on Exeter Avenue. You need to take a photo of the team with your new cellphone (given to you by Playboy X) and then send him the photo so that he can tell you which one to kill. There are five people in the basketball court. Get a photo of them and send it back to Playboy, but don't get too close to them or they will spot you. Playboy will call you a few seconds later and tell you which one to kill - each time you do the mission it's a different person, so you can't kill the same person every time! If you kill one of the targets before Playboy gets back to you, the crew will split up and you'll have to kill all of them, but if you follow the instructions this shouldn't be the case. t You can kill Marlon and the other gang members by shooting through the fence, you don't need to go into the basketball court. Once he is dead, the mission is over. August 12 Wrong is Right Michelle reveals that her real name is Karen, and takes Niko to meet a friend in office 396. The man (who refuses to reveal his name) wants Niko to find out about a person called Oleg Minkov, who lives in Iroquois back in Hove Beach. Go to Oleg's apartment and find out anything you can about him. When Niko arrives the apartment is empty, so he kicks the door down and calls the friend from U.L. Paper. He tells you to check Oleg's emails, and call back with any information that would indicate his current whereabouts. Access Oleg's emails and click on the latest email from "Vasily". It talks about a meeting at a jewellery shop on Tulsa Street. Niko calls back and the man tells him to kill Oleg at the jewellery store. Get a car and stop in the yellow marker at the destination. Oleg attempts to escape, so chase him down and kill him. When you reach Little Italy in Algonquin, Oleg will take a route which becomes blocked by construction material, so quickly reverse out of there and find a different route. Eliminate Oleg to complete The Holland Play Dwayne has irritated Playboy X to such an extent that he now wants him dead. Playboy wants Niko to carry out the hit for him, but Niko says he'll have to take time to consider it. Playboy will be in touch shortly. Dwayne calls shortly after the cutscene and reveals that he wants Niko to kill Playboy X! You now have a decision to make. Playboy X calls to ask Niko if he has reached a decision yet. Niko says he knows what he's going to do, and you now have the choice of killing either Playboy X or Dwayne. Who you decide to kill is entirely your choice. Each option has its own benefits, though killing X appears to be the favoured option amongst the majority of GTA IV fans. Killing Playboy X will earn you his loft (which will act as a new safehouse) in addition to a new outfit, and it also means that Dwayne Forge becomes a friend, which itself provides new benefits. Killing Dwayne will earn you $25,000 but Playboy refuses to speak to you afterwards, so there are no other benefits apart from that. If you decide to kill Playboy X, head over to his apartment in North Algonquin. He has four or five people protecting him in his apartment, so be prepared with plenty of ammo and armour. Take cover behind the door at the elevator, and eliminate each of the guards in the apartment. Throwing a grenade into the apartment should take care of most of them. Approach X, and he will jump across the roof to the opposite building, and attempt to make a run for it. Make your way to the ground floor and follow him. More of Playboy's guards arrive in a desperate bid to protect him, so target them and shoot them, but don't worry about X getting away because he will reach a dead end. Use the pistol to execute Playboy X for a cinematic execution. Killing Dwayne is considerably easier if you wish to choose that option instead. Go to his apartment, walk into the yellow marker and watch the cutscene which follows. Kill Dwayne's crazy bat-wielding friend, and then use the pistol to execute Dwayne. Who did you kill? Playboy X or Dwayne? August 13 Hostile Negotiation In this mission you need to rescue Roman, who is being held hostage by Dimitri's men at a warehouse off Lompoc in Bohan Industrial. Ensure you have full health, armour and plenty of ammo before starting the mission. There aren't any particularly difficult aspects of the mission, but you'll need to take out a lot of attackers which requires a bit of time and patience. Dimitri sends a text message containing a photo of Roman with a gun against his head. Walk into the yellow marker at the warehouse when you are ready to begin. Roman is being held on the top floor of the warehouse. When you take control of Niko, he will automatically take cover behind the wall. Take out each attacker one at a time, and don't move out of cover until you are sure there are no more gunmen. Blind fire if necessary. There is a first aid kit straight ahead if you need any health. Try to kill as many attackers on the first floor from the ground floor before going up there - this will make your task a lot easier when you eventually do reach the first floor. Once you've taken out as many people as possible, move up to the first floor and immediately look for cover. Take out any remaining attackers, and then move towards the second floor. If you need any health, the first aid kit on the ground floor should have respawned by now, so go back down and collect it. Turn left as soon as you reach the second floor, and again find cover. There's a first aid kit on the wall up ahead should you require it. Take out anyone in your way, and then proceed to the top floor where Roman is being held by his kidnapper. You'll know when you have reached the top floor because the arrow on the green radar blip will disappear. When you enter the room where Roman is being held, Roman and his kidnapper emerge from behind a desk. You need to use free-aim to kill the kidnapper and free Roman. Shooting him once in the arm should be enough, but be careful not to fire at Roman. Once you have successfully freed Roman, follow him out of the warehouse and take him back to the safehouse in Bohan. The mission ends with a lecture from Niko about Roman's gambling addiction. Portrait of A Killer U.L.P.C. want Niko to find someone, and he'll need access to a police computer in order to do so. Niko is informed that in return for doing these jobs, U.L.P.C. "may or may not" help Niko look for the person that betrayed him many years ago. TXTYour contact sends you a text message containing a photo of the target. You'll need to upload this photo to the police computer in order to obtain the location of the target. Find a police car and access the on-board computer. The easiest way to get a police car is to dial 911 on the cellphone, and then steal the car once the cops arrive. Lose your wanted level once you have the car, and then stop and access the computer. Select 'Search Police Records' followed by 'Search by Photo', and then upload the photograph of the target sent to you by the contact. His name is Adam Dimayev, and he's wanted for financing terrorist activity. Mark Dimayev's hangout on the radar, and then go after him. The hangout is occupied by around ten people, and your contact states that you must eliminate all of them. Start on the upper level of the hangout (Yorktown Avenue) before dealing with the guards on the lower level (Valley Forge Avenue). There is no time limit, so you can take as long as you like to eliminate all of them. You can take them out systematically one-by-one (using cover behind the various objects in the environment) or you can just launch grenades and take them out several at a time. If you need health at any time, go to Yorktown Avenue where there are no attackers present and dial 911 for paramedics. The paramedics will then arrive and give you health, but only at a cost. August 14 Dust Off Some guy is moving a lot of money for terrorists, and U.L.P.C. need him "neutralized." Grab a vehicle and go to the Civilization Plaza. A helicopter is seen leaving from the helipad, and as per the instructions, you must follow it to its destination before attempting to steal it. The chase ends at Kunzite Street, Westminster. Let the helicopter land, and then move in and take it. When you drive in towards the helicopter, there are 3 guards up ahead, so drive at full speed and take out as many as you can by simply running them over. Then get out of the vehicle, take cover and eliminate any remaining guards. Get in the chopper and fly to the dropoff point on the south side of the airport. Land at the location indicated by the yellow blip on the radar, and then a cutscene will show two FIB agents taking control of the chopper. Mission complete. Niko calls the contact after the mission, who says that his men "have the chopper" and "will get it back to you" soon. Apparently you're going to use the chopper later to eliminate the guy they are after. Call and Collect Officer McReary is the mystery man. You met him briefly during the mission "Street Sweeper." McReary states that he "knows all about" Niko's activities, and threatens to expose him unless Niko does some work for him. Some guy is blackmailing McReary, but he doesn't know who it is. He has arranged to do an exchange with McReary by the Humboldt River off Silicon Street, and he told McReary to call him there from the viewpoint. When you arrive at the viewpoint, Francis will send a text message containing the phone number of the blackmailer, and you must call this number and look out for a person answering their phone, so that you know which person to kill. Keep talking to the blackmailer until you identify him. Kill the blackmailer once you have identified him, collect the storage device for Francis, and then lose your two-star wanted level. Once that is done, take the photographs on the storage device back to Francis to finish the mission. Bertanius
I was thinking about making an emotional farewell video, maybe I might get around to it someday... I will be playing GTA IV into 2014 though, since the PC version of GTA V is a long wait. Niko will always be a great character. I also love going bowling with Roman. The Gardener
I'll be calling up Roman for bowling, Packie for darts, Brucie for races, Jacob for pool and Dwayne for strip clubs for many years to come. It's impossible to say farewell to this game. I've spent a few thousand to many hours playing it to say goodbye. Nice idea for a thread though, it's in the right hands. If anyone else made this thread it'd probably have been locked by now.

PoeticWhisper
As much as GTA IV got boring to me and as much as I disliked the characters.
