That moment when

Sam calls Cap on the intercom and tells him to look over his left shoulder, and then f*cking EVERYONE ever shows up. Then we finally get our "Avengers... Assemble!" line from Cap. And when Tony got the stones and said "And I.... am Iron Man" as he snapped his fingers. CHILLS.

10/10 everything it should have been and more.

Spoilers ahead:

The only slight I could say about the film is that the time heist part goes on a bit too long and Hulk didn't really get the moment we kinda expected him to get after IW, but that last hour was so unbelievably good that it didn't matter. That sh*t was straight out of the comics and it was absolutely f*cking glorious. Cap and Stark couldn't have had a better send off.

The "Avengers assemble" moment was absolutely perfect and it was only possible because they took their time with the MCU. 11 years of build up for that one moment and they knocked it out of the park.

Also, Thor is GotG3 is gonna be fuuuuuuuuuuuuun.

Wanna see something cool?

If you go to Google and type in Thanos and then click on the hand under the more images it'll remove all the spoilers from the search results.

Here’s my spoiler stuff...

I know it already kind of happened in Age of Ultron, but I wish instead of Captain Marvel destroying Thanos’ ship, that it was Nick Fury and SHIELD in a helicarrier.  But I guess Captain Marvel didn’t have much going on in the rest of the movie, so it’s not so bad to give her a great entrance.

I wasn’t sad to see Iron Man go.  It all goes back to Yinsen in the cave.  “Don’t waste your life”.  Plus while everyone was cheering when he took the infinity stones, I was thinking back to Thanos and Hulk’s experiences with the stones, and realized there is no way he can survive.  There was complete silence in the theater when he laid there dying.  At the end of Infinity War when the credits rolled, there was silence, but this was like the air was sucked out of the room and no one could even breath.

Of course the audience went nuts at the reappearance of all those who were snapped.  Especially for Black Panther, the Guardians, and Spidey.

I liked Thor seeing his mother.  I just don’t think those first thor movies showed as much emotion as they should have.  This kind of makes up for it.  Just wish Sif could’ve shown up.  Tony seeing his dad and telling him that he had a daughter hit the same spot.

I love Cap and Peggy.  I still get a bit choked up watching the end of “the First Avenger” when the radio goes dead and Peggy says, “Steve?”  I really enjoyed the Agent Carter TV show, which further showed her mourning Cap.  I get more than choked up at Cap visiting Peggy in Winter Soldier and then getting the text in Civil War “She’s Gone”.  I resented Sharon Carter.  I get it, it wasn’t wrong, but Peggy should be the only one for Cap.  Giving Cap and Peggy another chance was my favorite part of this movie.  I couldn’t think of a better end for Cap.

I am still processing it all.  I’ll probably write another five paragraphs when I do.

edit: And f*cking Jarvis!  The real Jarvis!

I'm still debating whether or not this is my favorite MCU film. The third act is perfection, but the second dragged on a little. I will say there was a lot more humor in the film than I was expecting, given the dark ending of Infinity War.

Probably my biggest gripe with the film was

Thor. He was basically a joke for 90% of the film. Hardly the badass he once was.

Yea Hulk and Thor both kinda got (temporarily?) nerfed in the film, Thor with the confidence issue and not being in shape and Hulk's arm getting f*cked and not getting his worldbreaker moment that some people expected. Thor had his moment in IW though with the Wakanda entrance, I think they wanted some others to have their big moments this time around.

Anyway, some more thoughts about the film:

After thinking about it a bit more I think both act 1 and 2 both have some minor issues. It's never really explained well how Stark is found, but if we're to assume Captain Marvel's post credit scene is canon I guess CM went to Earth, talked to the Avengers and then went out to find Stark, it would explain why Pepper was at the Avengers facility. That whole scene isn't really explained very well in the film though.

Act 2 (Time Heist) is still too long. I know why, and it's a good reason, they wanted to play around in the past and let some characters have some good moments like Cap seeing Peggy, Stark seeing his dad, Thor seeing his mother, etc, and sprinkle some cameos along the way. But yea, it could've been shaved down a little, there was a lot going on.

Act 3 is completely f*cking flawless. It's the absolute pinnacle of super hero films.

I still have gripes about Captain Marvel being OP as all hell, Thor and Hulk should be on her level at the very least (Thor should really exceed it). But then again, I don't have issues with Scarlet Witch basically soloing Thanos so it's not really a big deal lol.

It will be interesting to see how this film changes things going forward, half the universe just got brought back to life after 5 years of the universe adapting to life after the snap. That's gotta cause problems somewhere down the line. There was also a good bit of setup for Guardians 3, with Gamora's character development since the first film now mostly gone, but Thor on the team opens up all sorts of possibilities. Beta Ray Bill maybe? Also, there's a villain Loki out there somewhere with the space stone.

But the main thing I'm interested about is what they're gonna do about the fact that the Avengers have a fully functioning and essentially portable time machine. I can see them using Kang to solve that problem in some way, or least I hope they do anyway.

And that's why you have Phase 4 - to explore all of this. And the box office numbers coming in are absolutely insane - $350M domestic and $1.2B worldwide opening weekend. Not even Episode IX is going to come close to even touching that.

Actually,

Loki's escape with the Space Stone was undone after Tony and Steve got more Pym Particles in 1970.

Was it though? From my understanding Cap took the stone back to 1970, meaning what happened in in NYC in 2012/2013 still happened.

And I think I found a pretty major plot hole.

At the end of the film, Steve goes back in time to return the stones to their rightful places, and earlier in the film, the prophet from the Sanctum Santorum was saying how crucial it is to return things to the past. So naturally, Steve takes Thor's hammer back to Asgard with him. Except that got me thinking: If things from the past must be returned to the past, then what about Past Thanos, Past Black Order, Past Nebula, Past Gamora, and Past Thanos' Army? If they never return to the past, we have a MAJOR paradox on our hands. Without them being in the past, the events of the Guardians movies and Infinity War never happen, and thus the 5 years post-Snap time line is void.

No,

Cap had the Mind Stone. Tony lost the Space Stone which is why they had to go to 1970 to get more Pym Particles so they could go back to 2012 and prevent Loki from leaving with it. And they obviously succeeded because when they all return to the present, they have all 6 stones.

Wut, they get the space stone from 1970 as well as Pym particles. Stark gets the stone, Cap gets the particles. There's no mention of them stopping Loki escaping with the stone in 2012. It wouldn't make sense for them to get the stone in 1970 if they were gonna go back to 2012 and get it from there.

If Cap fixed this when he jumped back there's no mention of it.[/spoilers]

Wow!

For a movie that really had to live up, they really hit a home run here. Loved Endgame, I gotta go again!

That scene at New Asgard with Korg and the other one playing Fortnite damn near slayed me and my son. We both were in hysterics for a while there, Korg is just awesome!

The last part where the Avengers all fully assemble was pretty mind blowing too.

Looking forward to see where it all goes now though, Thor and The Guardians together is gonna be a blast, surely.

That is rumored to be the plot of the Loki TV show on Disney+.

God there was so much in this movie.  It is packed.  What I hear the most about the length of this movie is people saying it’s three hours but it flies by.

There was also a great homage to a classic comic cover that made me fanboy the f*ck out.

When Thanos levels the Avengers facility, Hulk and several Avengers are buried, but Hulk saves them by holding the ground above them from crushing them.  It’s not quite a mountain, but it’s definitely a tribute to the Secret Wars #4 cover where Hulk is holding a mountain that Molecule Man has dropped on him and the heroes.

Yea I've had that thought too. Last I heard of that show though was that it would be about Loki's shenanigans over the centuries, don't see why he'd need the spacestone for that. Perhaps he'll be portaling about and telling stories through flashbacks? Just wildly speculating there mind you. Would be pretty cool and a great sign for the Disney shows if Endgame of all movies sets up a TV show.

I think that was answered early on in act 2. They stated that you can't actually change the past, because the past has already happened, that's why good Nebula didn't vanish after killing evil Nebula. So all those things still actually happened in the timeline. From what I understand the only way to actually change the past is to use the time stone.

The main issue with the stones was that removing them from a timeline and not returning them would create alternate realities. That's what The Ancient One was warning Banner about in NYC. Cap taking them back meant there's no alternate realities, the timeline is intact.

That's how I understand it to have all played out anyway. It is confusing though, Steve going back and staying (where did that shield come from?) and Loki escaping with the spacestone. I reckon we'll get answers to the second one at some point at least.

Is this The Guy?

Definitely my favorite MCU movie wow.  That was definitely a lot movie too.

Cap wielding Mjolnir and finally getting his dance made my day

and I don’t know if I’m the only one but...

Fat Thor walking through Avengers headquarters looking like The Dude from The Big Lebowski made me love him even more.  And the thought of him being in Gotg Volume 3 made it even more epic

Going to go watch again this weekend.

it’s not that there’s no alternate realities, it’s that those alternate realities wouldn’t diverge drastically from what they’re meant to be. Cap taking them back meant no divergences, but for the alternate realities they’ve already been to. From how we see it, there should be about 7 or so timelines

main timeline

2014: Thanos and his army disappear timeline

2013: timeline where Frigga talks to her son at least one more time before her death

2012: Loki escapes, Ancient One meets hulk, etc etc.

1970s: Howard Stark (unknowingly) talks to his future son

1940s: Peggy Carter reunited with and lived a life with Steve Rogers

2023: slight one where Clint Barton briefly comes back and yells for his daughter before being sent back

Basically, going back at all is all it takes to initially create the alternate timeline (and they’re able to return to those timelines at the end because of the gps that they have). What they’re trying to avoid is causing multiple divergences for those timelines (essentially screwing them over to save themselves)

Tbh the only thing I enjoyed about end game was Thor 😆

It wasn't a bad movie at all I just think it left a sour taste in my mouth when it comes to Thanos there was too many inconsistencies surrounding the plot of the movie.

I've seen it twice now. I still think it's a great film, but now that the hype has died down, I was able to look at the film more critically on my second viewing.

Some thoughts:

-I still think the worst part (not necessarily "bad") of the film was Thor. I understand that up until Endgame he was this really arrogant and cocky guy, and Marvel probably decided to knock him down a peg, which I'm totally on board with. My problem is that he's also an obese couch potato and any time he's on screen it's very distracting and kills any serious moments for him. At the very least they should have cleaned up his hair and beard. He just looks so unkempt. I half expected to see Cheeto dust in his beard at some point.

-The second act, the time heist, was pretty average, and a bit too long. The only heists I really enjoyed were Clint/Natasha on Vormir, and Tony and Steve in 1970. Nebula and Rhodey basically just knock out Peter and grab the Power Stone from the vault. Bruce getting the Time Stone was only okay because of the Ancient One telling him about the ramifications of the time heist mission, but getting the stone was just meh. I liked 2023 Cap fighting 2012 Cap, and his little "Hail Hydra" moment in the elevator. Thor and Rocket getting the Reality Stone was a total snoozefest, only good part being the return of Mjolnir.

I still say this is my favorite movie in the MCU though. The third act is perfection and a fitting conclusion the the 21 preceding films.
