Does anyone else feel like screaming when you remember that Marvel doesn't own the rights to make a Spider-man movie? Because it really bothers me.

Yes, but more so because they don't have the rights to produce X-Men movies either!

Though The Amazing Spider-Man was actually half-decent by Fox's standards. I enjoyed it far more than any of the other Marvel films made by Fox. I'm looking forward to the second one at least.

Didn't Marvel get the rights back for Blade and Punisher? Think one or both of those characters need their own movies (made by Marvel).

I know nothing about GotG, but I won't lie, I'm f*cking excited for Rocket Raccoon!

Here is a Venn diagram of who holds what rights...

tumblr_n0sbtcJKyr1qa0uujo1_1280.png

Man do I wish Marvel had all the rights. A "Secret Wars" or Avengers vs X-Men type super movie would have been f*cking amazing. Or just to see Spidey fighting with the Avengers.

Secret Wars? I thought it was called Secret Invasion or ...Something like that. Iunno.

There's the "Marvel Superheroes Secret Wars" (Or Secret Wars for short) which was a 12 issue series that came out about 30 years ago, and involved an all powerful being known as the Beyonder teleporting all the big Marvel characters of the time, hero and villain alike, to a distant planet where he tells them that if they kill everyone else, he'll grant them everything they've ever wanted (or something like that). Along the way, Spider-Man finds his black suit (which eventually falls into the hands of Eddie Brock and turns him into Venom), a new Spider-Woman is introduced.

And then there is Secret Invasion which was a massive crossover event that happened five or six years ago, that involved an invasion of Earth by the Skrull where all the big hitters joined forces. I don't know much about it, I didn't read it.

Both, to me would be awesome to see, but I have a soft spot for Secret Wars.

Blade was the first R-rated movie my dad took me to. Not including Judge Dredd, which thinking about it, probably didn't deserve an R rating.

But I think they can hold off on Blade. They did a good job on the other movies, and deserve to let their version stand as the definitive version for a while. Plus if they did a reboot, I fear it would be too fantastical. I loved the dark gritty tone of the Snipes movies, especially Blade II. I'd hate to see them as a knee jerk reaction to the success of the other MCU movies, go either not dark enough or too over the top in the action. And yeah, PG-13 would be bad.

Like I said, though, every new movie announced, if it's not Hulk, I roll my eyes. Even if it's Black Widow. They absolutely knocked the Hulk out of the park in the Avengers, and I want more of that. After that, I want Hawkeye. I want Hawkeye, and in that movie I want Kate Bishop and Lucky the pizza dog (my avatar). If they made a Hawkeye movie based on the current comic run, I don't know what I'd do. I wouldn't be able to see it, because I'd die of nerdgasms, just from the announcement.

Looking at that diagram makes me sad. Before Marvel Studios started producing The Avengers films, X-Men and the Fantastic Four were two of their biggest franchises. Marvel put them on the back burner so they could focus on pushing their new Avengers (who essentially became a Marvel version of the Justice League).

I'd love to see Marvel Studios pull off a X-Men or F4 movie. Especially because I know they'd get the tone of both of them right. X-Men should all be about the prejudice they face as mutants, and F4 should be SCIENCE ADVENTURES!

I for one would kill for another Blade movie, personally. As good as the Snipes movies were, they are too rooted in 90s GRIMDARK and looks like a scene outside Hot Topic/Blue Banana.

Here's some amateur footage of the Avengers: Age of Ultron on location filming. No spoilers really, unless you didn't know there would be explosions and the Incredible Hulk in the movie...

The trailer premieres tonight on the Jimmy Kimmel show. So sometime between 11:30pm to 12:30am EST, I think. I've watched the teaser ten times. Can't wait to see the trailer. Only a couple hours.

Edit: Amelia Pond?...

hnnnnggh we didn't hear any 'I AM GROOT' nor Rocket's voice.

Trailer was f*cking ace though :^:

Yeah, I really want to hear Bradley Cooper as Rocket Raccoon... Vin Diesel can definitely pull off I AM GROOT over and over again. Really wanna see Bradley Cooper's performance.

That was unique. In the best way possible. Ah Disney/Marvel. If corporations really were people I'd f*ckin' marry you.

Is that real? Haha. I don't read GOTG. But was planning on picking up the most recent trade paperbacks, because I hear good things.

When I first heard about this I was worried about Chris Pratt. I know absolutely zero about GotG and I figured they were going to try and make him the next in the line of super-serious comic book hereos. He can do that sort of thing (he's pretty good in his brief time in ZDT) but he's much better when he's got a bit of a goofball side to him (see Parks and Rec and Her). Basically, all I want now is Burt Macklin in Space.

I'm glad this looks like a lot of fun and not another gritty superhero/comic-book film. I'm much happier to have stuff closer to Thor in terms of tone than Man of Steel (yes, I know that's DC).

On an unrelated note, it's worrying how much a green Zoe Saldana is working for me.

Green, Blue, she's hot no matter what.

As for Bert Macklin in space. That's pretty much Star-Lord from what I know. Or at least what I imagine Andy Dwyer imagines what Bert Macklin is like. He's your typical American smart-ass swashbuckler who can fly and has super strength.

I love the tone of these Marvel movies. They all have the twist of humor, much like the comics. Marvel comics, I find, always has that tone. There's always a quip, or joke when needed. DC comics on the other hand seem to be more serious. You'll hear a joke now and then, even in Batman, but it's usually not so much funny as just humorous. The DC movies on the other hand are bleak as f*ck. The only part of Man of Steel that perfectly matched Superman comics in tone, to me, is those last few scenes where Supes takes down the drone, and has that friendly conversation with the general. I'm hoping for more of that in Batman vs Superman. But I digress.

You know, after hearing Steve Downes as Star Lord in Earth's Mightiest Heroes, I really wanted it to be him in the movie.

But now that I see Chris Pratt doing it, I really like it. If it were Steve Downes, I'd be thinking of Master Chief the whole time, not only would it have ruined the character, it would have ruined the whole movie. As much as I love Master Chief, it would have been very awkward to hear him talk for 2 hours, especially with the tone of the movie.

STILL wanna hear Bradley Cooper as Rocket Raccoon.

And I really agree. Man Of Steel, not only was the writing very meh, but it was not Superman at all. The S doesn't stand for hope, it stands for "$$$ off of Batman fans, cause this is more of a Batman movie than a Superman movie".

The Guardians of the Galaxy trailer was great but for some reason, people in the press are already bashing the movie calling it "marvels first flop" constantly. I have high yet realistic hopes. Cap' 2 first though and unfortunately I saw a bunch of spoilers about it the other day and

how it ties into Guardians of the Galaxy

I thought the trailer was just a standard "pretty interesting" when I first saw it, but it's really stuck with me for a reason for I can't exactly put my finger on.

It could be that I can't get this out of my head:

Bradley Cooper's Rocket Raccoon in action!!

One line? Come on Marvel.

Well, better than no line ...Now we know how he sounds.

Now we know how he sounds.

He sounds a lot like Bradley Cooper!

As a side note, I love how twice Oscar nominated Bradley Cooper is cool with playing a talking raccoon.

Anyway, there's one of these for each of the Guardians. There's very little stuff that's not in the trailers in each.

God damn does Vin Diesel actually look like a tree

Edit: We can't embed more than two YT videos per post? Lame.
