The new batmobile is so meh and doesn't really "make sense". Why does Batman need a batmobile? for practical reasons, so unless you're going with really cartoony/comic book -overall style (Burton), the batmobile should primarily look "functional". That's why the Tumbler works so well as it is supposed to be a some sort of military prototype, later modified for vigilante use. Even the Snyder's batmobile makes more sense design wise. 60's muscle car looking batmobile sounds cool on paper, but why would batman use a design like that, especially if the design doesn't come from any specific car model? I mean the body shell kinda looks like it's taken from a -67 Camaro, but not exactly, so why would batman create a Camaro looking body shell for practcal vigilante use? This is a hardtop with coke bottle waistline etc...

This is just a 1:64 toy, so the details may be highly inaccurate, but it has a freakin vent window! Batman's gotta keep cool too KEKW

Hot Wheels The Batman 1/64 scale Batmobile: TheBatmanFilm

Or maybe the film doesn't use licensed cars and Bruce actually builds the batmobile from his "dad's old pony car" he finds from a barn, that's why it still looks like an old passenger car, that would MAYBE make sense. (I don't know I haven't seen the film.) Don't get me wrong, I don't really hate the design itself, I just think it doesn't make sense to look that way and doesn't feel authentic giving it's owner and purpose. (also the exposed engine is like the Lex Luthor armor that protects all but the head 🤪)

My problem with the batmobile is that he's BILLIONAIRE Bruce Wayne and can obviously afford something much much better.

I gather they're going for a relatively inexperienced and low-tech Batman that works his way up to the traditional gadgets and more advanced vehicles, he's supposedly only in his second year of crime fighting if I recall.

I thought it was a bit daft at first but the car's growing on me and it works with what they're going for. In hindsight a lot of film Batman's go from zero to crimefighting detective virtuoso over night so I'm down for this take on him tbh.

Is this The Guy?

Hyped for Black Adam and Aquaman 2.

Might give Flash a watch

I have absolutely no interest in sitting through another Batman movie.  I know I’m in the the minority and it will never happen but if they ever go back to campy Batman with a bunch of gadgets and goofy criminals I’m all for it.

Out of the upcoming slate Black Adam is probably the one I'm most interested in, it's something a bit different from the rest of DC's slate of films.

The Batman looks good but it's Batman, we all know what he, his villains and Gotham are about so it's basically just all about the performances there, there's not much world building or anything of that sort to build on. The Flash could be interesting but Flashpoint as his first film could be one film too early, but the main problem for me so far is it seems like they're leaning on nostalgia a bit too much with the Keaton Batman etc. Aquaman was an enjoyable action CGI-fest and the sequel will be the same, except now everyone knows Amber Heard is a tw*t who should have got dropped ages ago.

Still, overall I think DC have finally got their act together with their films and are starting to figure out how to do it well enough. Just a shame New Gods got binned, that could've been fun.

Budget issues I guess. The footage seems intentional in terms of displaying the details on the Bat Mobile. Bale's movies from the Nolan Trilogy had more attention to detail on the Tumbler (Bat Mobile; even had rampless jump thingy & detailed afterburner footage), Bat Cycle and even the Bat (Heli-Tank from Dark Knight Rises). Pattinson's movie seems underwhelming in terms of highlighting the things that make "Wayne" the "Batman" (he obviously doesn't have super powers that take the stage/center of attention).

I think the point of the film is supposed to be that he's still only been doing this for a little over a year and hasn't really figured out who Batman is yet. I imagine that's his character arch for the movie.

As far as the car is concerned I don't think it has anything to do with budgets but with story. The batmobile has never really made sense for a guy who prides himself on being a stealthy, hide in the shadows, urban myth but this one's the closest any movie has gotten to something even remotely discreet.

I think a big part of it though is that he just doesn't trust anyone. Sure, he could pay someone to build him something better but then each person he's got building his tech is just one more potential vulnerability that could lead to his secret identity being revealed. So he went the DIY route and in that sense it's understandable that a guy building his first car, billionaire or not, wouldn't end up producing the most amazing batmobile ever.

I've heard one hypothesis is that in this timeline of the film, Bruce does not trust anyone, also he does not want to involve anyone else nor his connections, company. And so he decided to do everything by himself.

I forgot where did he hear this from but the explanation actually sounded pretty logical.

I think that's more than likely where they're going with things. That's pretty much always the way Bruce/Batman is portrayed in the comics. Even in current comics where he's got all kinds of allies and family he still tends to keep things close to the vest and not trust people with key information.

New The Batman trailer. I think this is the most we've gotten now and it's getting to the point that I think I'm done with trailers.

It looks like they might be taking some cues from the Telltale Batman game with the Wayne Family's secrets returning to haunt Bruce.

This was always a movie I was going to watch but I get a little more curious with each trailer. I currently have no real idea what tone their going for as each trailer has felt a bit different.

In other news: WB have announced that The Batman will be going to HBO Max 46 days after it's theatrical release. I'm not sure what to do about that. As excited as I am to see the film, that announcement makes it feel really easy to just wait. Feels like a good sign that they won't delay it, though, like a lot of other films lately.

Speaking of games, there appears to be a cypher of some kind at the end of the trailer under where it says "experience it in IMAX".

First three Peacemaker episodes are out today and after watching the first ep I can say the show is... bonkers.

Feels like James Gunn's been given a load of money to make whatever the hell he wants and he's went a bit balls to the wall with it, and John Cena is all in too.

Don't you think they're revealing too much of the plot in The Batman trailers? That's usually a bad sign.

Possibly a by product of the fact the film was meant to be out ages ago but was delayed more than once due to covid. Does feel like there's been a million trailers but tbh I still don't really have an idea what the plot is, I just know the characters in it.

Wouldn't surprise me if they've snuck in another villain in there somewhere that they've not shown (I've not read any leaks, so no idea whats confirmed there). It's a matter of time before the Court of Owls show up and this take on Batman and Gotham seems perfect for them, wouldn't be shocked if they're in there somewhere.

I'm enjoying Peacemaker, so far. Tonally, it sort of feels somewhere between Doom Patrol and the Harley Quinn animated show. Not quite as good as either but still a fun time.

Yeah, after the last trailer I felt like I'd "seen too much" but thinking on it, all I really know of the plot is that it's an early days Batman, Riddler's the main threat, and his plan ties into Bruce Wayne's past.

As far as Court of Owls are concerned, I hope they don't show up outside of a few Easter eggs. For me, what made them scary in the comics was that they'd been hiding right under Batman's nose for decades. That doesn't have the same weight to it at a time when Bruce is still trying to figure who Batman is.

Deadline's gotta pretty good interview with James Gunn released today.

https://deadline.com/2022/01/james-gunn-new-suicide-squad-sequel-tv-series-peacemaker-renewal-chances-1234921004/

Apparently he's got plans for another TV series at HBO Max. It's being reported as a spin-off of The Suicide Squad which as a lot of people trying to guess which character from the movie it might be. Gunn just says "it's connected to this Universe", though which, to me, leaves things open to just about anyone. He also said it wouldn't be as much of a comedy as Peacemaker.

Also, sounds like Season Two of Peacemaker is a forgone conclusion. They're in the final stages of making it official.

I feel like they're going for the Telltale Batman route, with Thomas Wayne being a mobster or at least a corrupt/ruthless individual and Alfred hiding this information from Bruce. Plus, the Riddler's main plan is likely about flooding Gotham by blowing up the leeves of a river of some sort. There's a part in the trailer where Batman is looking to a map of Gotham ("a real change") and this map have quick flashlights that seem to expose the exact points which are probably going to be bombed. Plus, they freely gave away the answer to one of the riddles ("the answer is justice").

Peacemaker might just be the best out of all the comic book TV shows, and I say that as someone who strongly prefers Marvel over DC. It's just so well done from start to finish, really looking forward to season 2 when ever that airs.

James Gunn can really do no wrong right now.

Peacemaker is ridiculous, it’s vulgar, it’s corny, it’s violent, and it has no filter at all.

It’s probably the greatest series I’ve watched in a while.

I hope Gunn sticks around for a while if this goes more seasons than just the two.

That cameo though lol.  A lot of Snyder league fans are pissed.

Just saw the new Batman movie.

A few spoilers below.

My main problem with it was the length. F**k me it was an unnecessarily long movie. Clocking in at pretty much bang on three hours, they could have told the same story in two. Selina Kyle should have been axed. Her character added next to nothing. Same goes for the Carmine / Thomas Wayne storyline.

The action scenes were awesome. Batman felt a lot more violent than usual. Unfortunately they showed the best parts in the trailer - the Batmobile coming through the explosion and the fight in the dark with the only lighting being the muzzle fire. I knew what was coming both times and they still had that 'holy sh*t' moment.

Robert Pattinson done a great job as Batman. It was refreshing to not see him already established but rather the early days of Bruce Wayne becoming Batman. Nothing too extravagant. The bottom half of his suit was basically jeans and a pair of Dr Martens. His tech being just a grappling hook and a wingsuit.  Wasn't really a fan of his emo look though. I kept waiting for him to bust into Jesus Of Suburbia.

Riddler started off on the right foot but his reveal at the end was really disappointing. He was a villain that had the entire GCPD on edge only to be revealed as an Antifa dork.

I probably wouldn't see it again. Thats not a knock on the movie but rather the runtime.

I'd agree, if it wasn't obvious that they were planning to make more of these, with her being a permanent character. But if that doesn't happen, then yeah. Her role was barely significant and the movie could have worked without her. But she's still the best cinematic version of Selina Kyle, so there's that. It's kind of sad in its own right considering that no one has gotten Selina Kyle right in a movie, ever. But I like this version of her.

Other than that I liked it a lot. I didn't mind the length. The movie was ballsy. It's essentially a crime thriller that just so happens to have Batman as the main character. It's definitely a lot different that what you'd expect from a Batman movie.

I don't like it more that Nolan's first two Batman movies, but I can't say that I like it less, either. I'm gonna have to watch it again to form a more conclusive opinion.
