Otter 7,937
I get the feeling that this is going to be more like a "precursor" to the dark knight returns. Almost as if the incident in that quote is what we're going to see. A drastically older Batman (older than Supes) just wouldn't make sense. But who cares! A Brolin-Bat would be rad. Sup3rman 63
Well they want to make a JLA movie next, so can't be a ye olde batman. Ill just say again, Brolin would be awesome in both roles(Bruce/Bats). But guys, try to post some more interesting actors who would be good playing Lex, cause i can't think of any. Otter 7,937
I wonnnnder. These guys are all totally different and perhaps, in a few cases, flame bait - but think about it. Taylor Kitch. Anson Mount. Armie Hammer. Antony Starr. Karl Urban. Older lookin' dudes: (quite the age gamut here) Matt Dillon. Hugh Laurie. Mickey Rourke. (Imagine Rourke in the Dark Knight Rises!!!!) Kurt Russel. Gerard Butler. And you know what? f*ck it. Bryan Cranston as Batman hisgoddamedself.
Don Garcia 84
And you know what? f*ck it. Bryan Cranston as Batman hisgoddamedself. As old Bruce, hell yeah. If they ever do the Batman Beyond thing, Cranston as the grizzled Bat would be rad. But it'll never happen...
Girish 3,798
Well they want to make a JLA movie next, so can't be a ye olde batman. Mark Strong would be awesome as Lex Luthor. He has the talent required to get under the skin of the character. Good voice as well. A thumbs up to Josh Brolin as Batman. Can't go wrong with that. As for Cranston, majority of the fans want to see him as Commissioner Gordon and I don't disagree. He definitely has the looks.
Sup3rman 63
Indeed, i agree with Girish completely here. But Otter, you can't really have Mickey Rourke in a DC universe film, can you? He was already in Marvels Iron Man 2.
Moonshield 9,926
Indeed, i agree with Girish completely here. But Otter, you can't really have Mickey Rourke in a DC universe film, can you? He was already in Marvels Iron Man 2. Alright? Also, Chris Evans has played two different characters in different Marvel franchises (if you can fall Fantastic Four a franchise). Sup3rman 63
Okay...forgot about those two. But Green Lantern sucked, and he had such a minor part in Wolverines first movie. Also F4 and avengers things are sort of different universe.
Otter 7,937
Yeah, I don't see a problem at all, there.
darthYENIK 8,858
I don't care if actors are double dipping in comic book movies. I feel bad for Reynolds though. They really f*cked Deadpool up. Although rumors are still swirling that Reynolds is trying to get a proper Deadpool movie started. Rourke is still too ugly. Although realistically, Bruce Wayne would have that boxer's face. Otter 7,937
Yeah, I mean, he'd only work in a direct adaptation of Dark Knight Returns. As for Reynolds, he read the script, did he not? In both cases, royally sh*tting the bed.
Girish 3,798
So what's all this talk I've been hearing about Christian Bale being offered $50m to reprise his role as Batman? That's a sh*tload of money to turn down but I doubt the credibility of the source. Seems to have originated from some book. Edit: Here's an article on it - http://www.digitaljournal.com/article/356085
bluetops 1
^ I heard somewhere that Bale said he won't be Batman anymore unless Nolan is making another Batman movie. Uhm. I want to see to Batmans - old and young versions. I dunno. I just want to.
darthYENIK 8,858
It's official. Ben Affleck is Batman. http://variety.com/2013/film/news/ben-affl...man-1200586881/

Girish 3,798
Not quite happy about this casting. Surely there were better choices than Affleck? They should have probably gone with a lesser known actor.
darthYENIK 8,858
I was really hoping to see Broman (what I was gonna call Josh Brolin as Batman).
the young hooligan 15
Oh dear lord... Ben Affleck? Yep, cause 'Daredevil' was brilliant
Girish 3,798
I was really hoping to see Broman (what I was gonna call Josh Brolin as Batman). heh, that was a cool nick. Hell, I would have taken Ryan Gosling over Ben Affleck.
GunWrath 3,131
Ben Affleck? Seriously? Wow.. I prefer Brolin, Liev Shreiber or Micheal Fassbender as possible candidates.. but Brolin is probably the best one. All I'm going to see is a DareDevil instead of Batman.
darthYENIK 8,858
I can't say I'm excited, but I can't say I'm too upset. Affleck hit a rough patch about 10 years ago, but I think he's rebounded well enough. He's not a bad actor, and he looks like he could be Bruce Wayne. But like I said, I was really hoping to see Brolin, who is an amazing actor.
GunWrath 3,131
Yeah, Brolin is an amazing actor, loved him in No Country For Old Men and W. Affleck isn't a bad actor by any means but he's had his ups and downs like some actors. I just don't think Affleck can sell Batman though man, that's some big shoes to fill.
Sup3rman 63
Aflec isnt the worst actor, but he just can't be Batman...maybe only Bruce Wayne. I find the way he acts lacks the suitable dark persona to fit this role. I just can't imagine even him in the bat suit. Bad choice imo...when you had such great less known actors to use. This is indeed like asking Clooney to be Batman again...
DarrenC1888 129
It would have been great seeing Christopher Reeve's Superman and Tim Burton's Batman on screen at the same time. I'm reluctant to watch the new Superman but I might watch this new one when it comes out.
Otter 7,937
All the talk about Ben Affleck seems to sidestep a bit of a confirmation here: Batman is older, world weary and wiser than Superman. I haven't seen the Man of Steel yet, but do they make any reference to another caped crusader existing in the world? Seeing as how it's an origin story, as Superman sort of "comes out," don't you think the comparison would have been drawn by the citizens of Metropolis? Silly nitpick, I'm sure, but f*ck you guys - that's what internet forums are for.
darthYENIK 8,858
If they are going away from the canon of the Dark Knight Trilogy, and making their own up, Batman could be considered more of a myth. But at the same time, I'll be willing to believe that the subject just never came up in Man of Steel.
Typhus 1,431
I think a big part of the conflict with be Batman's methods. Take a look at a guy like Professor Pyg, he's not evil, he's mentally ill and is not responsible for his actions. Ditto for guys like Firelfy and the Mad Hatter. To Superman, all he sees is a bully beating up these diseased, vulnerable people. Batman, at the beginning, will probably seem very much like The Punisher to Clark - an evil, monstrous lunatic without a shred of empathy. Likewise, I think Batman will have a tamer version of Lex Luthor's xenophobia - seeing Superman as an alien threat. Luthor can really bring the two together when Superman sees how empathetic Batman is compared to Luthor, and Batman reevaluates his opinion on Superman when he sees that Lex is basically a collossal racist f*cknugget judging Clark not on his actions, but the accident of his birth. I think they need Lex as the main villain and another foe as a secondary villain to show the differing approach to their methods - ideally, any secondary villain would be one of the aforementioned loons who Superman would view as needing protection from Batman. darthYENIK 8,858
I see one of two things happening. Either Luthor or someone Else on Superman's radar is operating in Gotham City, or Batman is in Metropolis for one reason or another. That's how they usually meet. They usually just see each other as just another villain, to start out. But If they go the Dark Knight Returns route, then Superman is going to be asked by the US government to take Batman down. Harley 4,506
No lie, when I saw the 'Ben Affleck is the new Batman' topic from the board index, I thought it was a milestone topic in genchat. Ridiculous casting.
