How much controversy do you think V will get?

How much controversy?

123 members have voted

  1. 1. How much controversy?

    • The most controversy a game has ever gotten (Banned in several countries, game has to be re-released with cut content)
      6
    • As much controversy previous GTAs have gotten (News shows and websites reporting how it's dangerous, banned in few countries, getting re-released with cut content in some countries)
      46
    • Small controversy (News shows and sites reporting on it for 1-3 days after it comes out, then they stop giving a sh*t about it)
      53
    • None (Self-explanatory)

Back in November, there was a thread for this and everyone thought V would be getting a lot of controversy. Now, me and several other friends I have all think V will be getting less controversy than IV, or even none since there hasn't been anything against GTA since V was announced. (Back when San Andreas' marketing started, soccer moms protested Blockbusters to stop advertising the game and Fox had some articles against IV when it was announced.) So, I want to see what GTA forums thinks now.

Small contreversey remember the media wants to make money and everytime a game with alot of violence comes out, then they get a big juicy paycheck for discussing it.

As soon as they realize you can bomb a triathlon...media will start crying. Oh yeah, and the whole plane into a building thing.

ps. triathlon's were confirmed right?

There will always be something for someone to bitch about... but so far there doesn't seem to be anything new and extreme (perhaps if Franklin can actually use marijuana or Trevor can cook meth there will be more) to warrant any significant rant from anyone. So, small controversy, a few moms bitching about their kids being raised by a video game to kill people and sh*t.. but nothing major.

No REAL controversy. Just the same few groups of people complaining.

Isn't it funny that San Andreas had Hot Coffee hidden in its code and it was a big controversy. Then GTAIV came along and had content more explicit and went unnoticed? I think the world has been changing and becoming more laid back about these type of controversies. People realize more that GTA is for mature audiences. The majority of people buying games are over 25 years old.

There will certainly be some media sensationalized controversy to sell advertisements during the news and will only help give more exposure and sell more games. All the while they will conveniently ignore the well thought out social commentary the game will have.

Jack got fired from being a lawyer, so we're safe in regards to him.

Thank God Jack Thompson was disbarred. If he wasn't, you'd see him on FOX complaining, but we still have Bill O'Reily. AKA Cranky old man who need to take his medicine and sir the f*ck down on his chair that goes round and round, that he bought with the money from his bank account.

I didn't get to respond in the other topic before it got locked.

Jack might have been an attorney but he wasn't a good one and I forget how many tries it took him to pass the bar but IIRC it was a lot probably to the point where he could do everything by memory, anyone can pass a test if they take it enough times. *Insert STD joke here.* He was first and foremost a right wing nut moralist with an agenda. His wife (also a lawyer) is the smart one (choice in partner aside, can't win them all) and the one who was making the money after he started his crusades.

GTA IV wasn't more explicit, it showed nothing while SA allowed you to control it.

On Topic: I believe there will be no controversy, nothing looks too bad.

No real controversy. But those idiots over at CNN or Fox News will use it as an excuse for all the gun violence and crime in the world, and say it needs to be banned because kids play it and whatever. But who the f*ck listens to them anyway?

It'll be the same. Nothing for ages, then some lunatic goes and guns a lot of people down somewhere and the news blames GTA. Same old sh.it, different day.

I second this, there hasn't been anything controversy wise that hasn't already been dealt with in a GTA game before, however there could easily be something controversial story related that has gone unseen and many features that haven't been revealed as yet.

For some reason, I can't see GTA V getting a bad rep. As far as controversy goes, the series has already pissed off it's fair share of activists and soccer-moms. There might be a complaint or two from animal rights activists about the ability to slaughter animals in-game.

GTA V is a game that causes a lot of violence.

You disagree?

I disproved the people that voted none, that was easy.

It'll just be the same, usual, naive controversy that GTA receives. All it does is give Rockstar free promotion for the game!

However, if GTA V was released in Spring as originally intended the controversy would have been a lot higher.
