What would you think if a previous protagonist were to be killed in GTA V? (Niko, Luis, Johnny)

Before I begin, I am in no way stating that I believe a protagonist will return (Rockstar have clearly stated that it will not happen), so do not shoot me down in flames. I am merely asking a theoretical question..

 

How would you feel about a previous protagonist (from IV, BOGT, TLAD) were to make an appearance in V and be killed, possibly by one of the protagonists?

 

Would you feel weird trying to kill one of the people who you've spent time playing as?

 

Or would you think that it is a good way to end that character's legacy rather than never knowing what happened to them?

I wouldn't really care, as I've never created a bond with any protagonist so far.

I liked Luis, but I never really enjoyed playing as Niko or Johnny.

 

To be honest I like the idea, as it brings their story to an end, without ruining the previous game for you.

The only issue (I guess) is that if you did like the character, you may feel reluctant to kill them, and despise Rockstar for it.

 

EDIT: RDR SPOILER!

Imagine if We were made to kill John Marston in a RDR Sequel, I dont think that many people would want to

Vercetti was a legend, But Niko wasn't really a likeable character, Too boring and brutish. But still. Maybe the guy from GTA 3 learns how to talk biggrin.gif

Oh yeah, I forgot that, but add that it is an RDR spoiler because many didn't complete the game.

 

Also...

 

You remembered me, John Marston was the ONLY protag I ever liked and felt like sh*t at the end.

Would it be preferable for them to be killed whilst working along side the new protagonist(s)?

 

For example, if they were brought in for a heist and killed by the police?

The only GTA protagonist I know of that has been killed on-screen as part of the story is Victor Vance in VC (before VCS was released though). In GTA V, maybe it could be Johnny, if he's running the Los Santos chapter of The Lost and gets killed by Trevor or something. I am hoping though that if a previous protagonist is killed, he isn't killed by one of GTA V protagonists.

Well I'd hate seeing Niko dying, but Johnny or Louis, could be killed... It would make the story more intressting and also it wouldn't make me sad smile.gif

I know, but I was using that as an example of a death which players were upset by. Now imagine if he didn't die, and in a sequel we were made to kill him, it would be even worse than the way it ended because we would be responsible for it.

wouldnt like if they die , better should be seeing them working with protogonists or just meeting in some cutscenes , that would be cool , seeing luis and nico in los santos , and some memorials and easter eggs of CJ

I want GTA V to have no connection with the other GTA games. Easter eggs are fine but GTA V is it's own story, own characters and so on.

Well there was that plane ticket to San Andreas with Niko's name on it on the social club.. maybe Niko does make an appearance.

 

Maybe he helps you out on a heist but he takes all the money and you have to kill him.

 

A cool Easter egg would be Niko is one of the guys who you can employ for a heist.
