I think it should be as much as Fallout 3, just the limbs and head, that's it.

No. RDR mixed with MP3 type of damage is all I want to see.

I hope it's atleast like mp3 exit wounds from gunshots. As of right now it seems like the majority want extreme violence and gore so why don't they give us what we want? I hated mafia 2 on ps3 there was no blood at all. I couldnt even enjoy it.

Oh come on, I want to see a limb fly off or head explode if i shoot them close range with a shot gun.

And if an RPG were used, what kind of "bullet wound" would you say is "appropriate"?

I'd like it in cutscenes. It would f*ck with the Euphoria experience in gameplay.

Of course, as long as it is realistic. It was pretty stupid how in GTA IV people stayed in one piece after being launched by an RPG explosion.

Yeah I agree now since you put it that way if it had both maybe lil too much gore.

What? I thought it was hilarious watching bodies fly in every which way possible and it never got old. Atleast to me.

Having them explode into pieces would be a novelty that would soon get tiring IMO.

Call Of Duty World at War style. But Rockstar are too much of a pussy to do that.

Do you remember in GTA III the bodies actually dismembered when you threw a grenade towards the victim or shot an RPG towards them? There has to be a reason why they removed this feature. Gore in GTA games actually declined as each new title came out. Just compare the effects of the Chain Saw in Vice City compared to San Andreas. Whenever you took a head shot in a III era game the victims head would disappear. But in IV it's as if nothing happened to them.

Could it be because they wanted to make death more 'humorous' in a sense? Maybe, but I just don't think that's it.

I remember using katana in San Andreas and it actually cut npcs heads. Hope katana makes a return.

I just feel having bodies explode into pieces all the time would make the game feel cheesy.

As I said before RDR mixed with MP3. MP3 especially had gore I think would be suitable for a GTA game without being too ridiculous.

Like the machete fight between Max and Milo. Milo's head is partially decapitated.

During one of the Jersey flash backs when the guy blows himself up in the corridor and the aftermath shows a torso that had been blown in half and the end where it shows Becker's body missing an arm and incredibly detailed burns.

Basically I want it within context than just to make it over the top for the sake of being violent.

I don't think Rockstar will do anything extreme like Fallout.

But, speaking of Max Payne 3 - I hope that at least explosions in GTA V cause visible damage like they appeared in cutscenes in MP3. Like the first New Jersey flashback, or towards the end of the game. I was a bit disappointed they had some pre-modeled damages for explosions, but nothing dynamic for when the enemies when were too close to a propane tank, or hit by a grenade launcher.

EDIT: Just saw your most recent post and you basically said the same thing. Haha.

But yeah, Max Payne 3's gameplay gore and cutscene gore was perfect. From what I've seen of pictures on the internet, most notably the Boston Marathon bombing, Max Payne 3's gore was pretty close to reality, and not too over the top.

Just because it is gore doesn't mean it has to be "over-the-top", realistic gore can be done well.

That's what he said. Max Payne 3's gore (that was mostly only present in cutscenes, bullet wounds were there during gameplay) was pretty realistic. If there is gore in GTA V, and it's anything like the gore from the cutscenes of MP3 - that's perfect.

I don't really see Rockstar doing peds exploding into pieces, but I can see them losing a limb or two, and having some major burns and bleeding like in Max Payne 3's cutscenes.

Which is what I described.

Anyway if GTA V retains executions from GTA IV I can see them being a lot more intense. It wouldn't surprise me if we have to cut off someone's head or burn them alive as a form of execution.

I'm not an expert, but I'm pretty sure someone being close to the epicenter of a RPG explosion is gonna be blown to pieces, so it is not inherently unrealistic to have someone be blown to pieces, provided the explosion is strong enough.

It's a lot harder making gore not look ridiculous this gen. Spec Ops the line has decapitations that look oddly similar to older GTA games and it looks cartoonish. I wouldn't want gore unless it looks like it actually belongs in the game, otherwise its jarring in completely the wrong way.

GTA has a bit more class than Saw I thought. MP3/RDR style is perfect.

what is this "class" you are talking about? the only limitation here is people cringing over pixel gore. when such limitation desists, realism becomes possible.

Well, isn't it pretty much impossible to have objects physically deformed that much on the RAGE engine(Why R* said getting toned/fat wasn't gonna happen)? Anyway, on the CVG interview with the mission designer, he said that shooting was going to be "visceral", even more so when you use Michael's slow motion ability. I'm not sure if I heard right but a violence filter too? And in the gameplay trailer you see an entry wound in an enemy's head.

TL;DR VERSION:Expect MP3 effects in combat, but things like dismemberment probably won't happen outside of cutscenes.

Ever heard of something new? GTA isn't RDR and MP3 type of damage is beaten to death already. I can understand that people are afraid of something new in real life situations, but the fact that you don't want to have something new in a video game rather than something already checked and marked.. And the sad part is it's not only you. There are actually people quoting and backing up your comment. Facepalm.

You make it sound like dismemberment is a new idea. We could cut off limbs in Manhunt 10 years ago. Not to mention all the games I remember from the 90s. I'm not afraid of something new, but over the top violence has always been apart of gaming for aslong as I can remember.

The reason I'd like a hybrid of RDR/MP3 is for GTA I believe it would suit its style of gameplay. I don't want GTA:Left 4 Dead that's all.
