Gasoline

So being able to fill up tanks from gas stations is a must.

No it's not. If it was, molotovs would have confirmed a gas mechanic in most previous GTAS. But they didn't.

It's busywork. That's all it is. A boring chore. Nothing more, nothing less. The reason people play games like freespace 2 and assassin's creed 2 and ace combat and batman arkham city is that they want to be immersed in a world that's different to our own. A world where we're batman or a cool assassin or an ace pilot.

Sure, this would increase the immersion, but would reduce the point in doing so, since most people play games to get away from chores like this.

It's not filling up the tank for the sake of replicating real life. It's filling up a canister with a view to further do something else, it has a point, in this case to create gas trails to light and blow something up. Just the same as going to ammunation to buy bullets in a sense. The game will focus on preparation to achieve a goal and also includes customisation of weapons, so why wouldn't they include this as a way to further add to your weapon inventory and cause havok.

Oh you meant as a weapon and not to make cars work. Well, yeah. I can go along with that. I think gas is a great weapon. It just sucks to have to get it for your car.

Well, that's what I said in my post, it's a shame you deleted 3/4 of it to try and prove a point, read it next time.

Another reason:

If there is not a full canister in the near vercinity, filling up and empty one is far more dynamic, it's quicker and far less annoying than having to go and find one.

Ive not been keeping with all news but im wondering if the petrol station will explode in a similar dissappointing manner as GTA4 or in spectaular almost real-life fashion.

That sounds pretty cool. One of my ideas is you could take out the pump hose, light the gas coming out, and use it as a stationary flamethrower turret. What do you think?

Also, sorry for ignoring parts of your post. I try not to do that. I've just argued the refueling thing for way too long.

No gasoline is too realistic for GTA.../sarcasm

Ofcourse it should be in the game. Dem haters can go buy SR4 tounge.gif

There's never been gas in any GTA before...

OP is talking about the gas being able to be put on fire, which is f*cking awesome

By this principle GTA 3 should not have changed to 3D since change is scary.

Things change. Innovation requires change. If you are not confident that Rockstar could pull off fuel for cars in a fun and interesting way then I suggest you go back to older games since ya know all you guys are stuck in the past.

Fuel isn't fun. Just like hunger in GTA SA it gets annoying and is a chore. The only people that liked it are the 12 year olds kids and the Role Players.

I'm surprised we didn't see a jerry can in the back of Trevor's truck. There's two lockboxes, so what's in those?

Would you stop with the 12 year olds thing? It's not a good argument and it doesn't help our case.

Could be cool. I also agree completely with the refuelling of car, if they were going to do it, it would of been done in IV, as it worked of probably worked most in that game. And realistically speaking, because of map proportions, you would have to fill up a whole tank just to explore the map once. That would be really annoying. No worries for not reading, understandable. They could play with gas a lot in the game considering they've introduced it as a weapon now, just hope they do it the right way, i'm sure they will.

I'm also confident in my statement, as when Trevor uses the gas tank in Trailer 2, he's at a gas station. So either what I said has some credibility, or there will be full canisters at every station, which is good news anyway.

Actually I did read it. And I'm tired of it.

You really can't read because I swear I told you to f*ck off

I think, just like in real life, that it's gonna suck paying 4-6 dollars a gallon for gas. That's one way to spend money, I guess. I just wonder if we pump it at the pump, then walk in and pay for it/ or use credit card? Where do we get the gas from? And can we use a gas hose to steal it?

Mr. Tuna Taco

I've always wanted this in GTA.. I liked it in Mafia II, althoutgh you never really ran out of gas since it was like 234241342234 liters of gas in those old wagons .-.

But still it would be cool, it would give you one more step to plan before the heists, and it would be a cool addition to car chases, and another way to spend money. And it would automatically bring in the need of stealing cars (which is what the game is about originally).

I'd rather spend my money on cars and weapons. You know, cool stuff. Not mundane crap.

I agree with ya, but I don't mind the gas idea as long as it's optional or done right.

Why are people discussing gas to power cars when this is obviously a thread about useing it as a weapon?

Anyhow I can't wait, especially liking the news that you can puncture the gas tank of cars and then shoot the trail of gas to ignite the car, it's made me think of all sorts of scenarios, one of them will be me playing as Trevor walking into a desert gas station robing the place seting the owner and the counter onfire, as I leave and hear sirens in the distance I'll park my truck in the middle of the road, and shoot the gas tank let it leak for a minute and then shoot the puddle of Gas below it to make it go boom in a bad ass ambush.

People dont check the news section do they.

Gas is confirmed by multiple sources. Doesnt say we need it to drive nor should it. Lots of cool sh*t to do with the gas tho.
