breebreebran
I just got gta iv from gamestop. I installed it. I couldnt even get it to run because of a resolution error. So I did that commandline.txt and changed it to windowmode Now it sort of loads up, to the point where I have to click play. Then when I click play it shows the loading screen and plays the music. But it loads for so long that it still loads even after the music stops playing. And I cant figure out how to get around this. I updated direct x. Drivers are updated. I have 8 gb ram 320gb hdd space 3 ghz dual core i3 intel processor Onboard graphics which is intel hd graphics 2000 Windows 8 pro 64bit It handles most games fine. Like vice city and san andreas(both of which I got the resolution problem on but that was the only problem with those 2 which I fixed) and minecraft and black ops and secondlife and lord of the rings online. I reinstalled the game twice. I reinstalled rockstar games social club and games for windows live. I downloaded the title update 7 from their website. I set the launcher to compaitbility mode with windows 7 and windows vista sp 2. I've tried not signing into RGSC and still wont work.
CCPD
Your graphics card could be the problem. Have you tried deleting your game's settings file (click here to see how)? Try running the game in XP SP1 mode and as administrator.
radioman
That video card is way below minimum for this game, as Intel cards pretty much never have more than 128MB of dedicated vram(what games use)-at least I have never seen one yet? IV needs at least 256mb of dedicated vram to run optimally. On that set up, the latest GTA you can play is SA...OR IF you want to play a Liberty City GTA, play III, it will run great on that set up. Until you get a better Video card, IV and later games are out of the question...Should have read the box the game came in AND the Pinned "Can I Run it..." thread and you would have seen you do not meet minimum for the game. Just a friendly heads up.
